The Reduced Price Guide FAQ/OP has been moved to the SECOND post.

Below is SIX MONTHS or so(counting January 2010) of guide drop info. If you want to see the full list, please refer to the second post of the Reduced Price Guide Thread X that can be found HERE .

CE/SE/LE=HARDCOVER GUIDE

Their last big drop was prime, brady, then collectors. So it's possible those are on the block to the next drop. But these are all Brady games guides. Which makes it especially weird. Wonder if some didn't go through the system and they will have dropped tomorrow? I'm willing to go to gamestop tomorrow morning and check.
 
Starcraft 2 and Halo Reach are both Brady, so that logic might not apply here...

I honestly have a tough time believing that DQ6 would drop before 9....

That's not always true. Just because the site doesnt have it up doesnt mean the store will.

So far as long as I've been tracking penny guides at gamestop, if it was dropped off the site it pennied, but just because it pennied doesn't mean it dropped off the site.
 
The GS District Manager seems to be cracking down on penny guides in my area... :cry:

Although guides dropping off websites is a good indicator of a potential drop, it's not confirmed until it's confirmed (hopefully by an employee, or at least by a CAG). For example: the Final Fantasy XII (12) Collector's Edition guide at GS; it's not listed on the website, but there's still tons of copies floating around in stores and it definitely has not pennied!

But keep on posting those SKUs if they drop off the website; at the very least other CAGs can go check them out in person, and you never know if your contribution leads to discovering more drops! It might be better to clarify which are confirmed and which are just potentials, but thanks for being diligent in any case!
 
Posts # 2,3 and 5 have been updated with the 3 guide drop list(Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, Splatterhouse, Starcraft 2:Wings Of Liberty) from yesterday that was verified.
 
Uh-oh...it looks like the stock locator trick for GS isn't working as of today. I just tried searching for the KH: BbS guide and I'm taken to a page that says "Our server can't process your request" or something like that. The GS link provided on the first page (where you insert the SKU of the guide you want to find) also takes you to this page.

Oh well, at least I was able to search for that guide yesterday to place a hold on it at a GS; I just got the confirmation email that they're holding it for me! :applause:

Success! My mom was able to pick up the KH: BbS guide I put on hold, and she didn't have to pay for it--after noting that it was a penny guide and was supposed to have the cover torn off, the employee who helped her just slid the guide across the counter to her and said "Have a nice day; we never saw you." :lol:
 
Wonder if people putting guides on hold alerted Gamestop of the inventory glitch. I really liked it when we had it since it allowed us to tell what locations had the guide still marked in their system, and even pennied out collectors editions. Hopefully there's a new glitch to get it back soon.
 
I think part of the problem with the inventory glitch going away was that they switched to a new online stock check interface.

I can confirm the CoD hats/wallets/tshirts and a Halo hat. I, uh, found them last night, all stickered for a penny. I'll try to post SKUs when I get home from work.

Well, I'm not saying anything definite that might be considered trade talk, but, hypothetically, if someone could get their hands on some, then maybe they could help out someone else. Of course, this is all hypothetical, and in no way is definite or something that someone could hope for;)
 
Stopped by my most reliable GS today and found a Splatterhouse and Starcraft guides. The douche at the register, who has sold me pennied guides before, claimed that he had to override the price and adjust it to full price if I wanted the guides.

Now I'm depressed. :(

If he's given you penny guides before how can you call him a douche? It's not like he said "Oh I can't give these to you I want them" then laughed as he brought them in the backroom. gamestop isn't supposed to sell the penny guides, he was probably making sure he doesn't get yelled at by his manager for selling something he's not supposed to.

No, he honestly is a real doucher. I'm pretty sure as soon as he leaves work, he puts on his "salmon" polo, pops his collar, and says, "wuts up dawgz!" I got one guide from him before and that was probably only because I bought a couple games as well (and let me tell you, he was NOT happy). Maybe that's the catch, I need to throw a game in with my penny guide purchase next time.

I think I'm done trying to get penny guides though. Good luck everybody else!
 
Wow, I did not know I was being a douche when I wear my "salmon" polo. Not that I'll throw it out, but maybe be more observant of how others react.

I can confirm Halo ODST. Nothing else dropped that the store I go to had. They have so many they gave me a mini pile of 6 and told me if I wanted more they still have plenty sitting in the back.
 
Ya'll should go back a 10-15 pages and check out the pictures of BB's halo odst guides that were pennied...racks upon racks of stacks upon stacks of these guides.

Starcraft II is pennied, I have 2 copies here with the penny sticker on it even. The others only dropped off the site though, didn't penny out yet.

I can confirm this also. When I did my trade tonight, I saw a stack of 10 of them set to be destroyed when they closed.
 
I asked the guy at one of my Gamestop's what they did with their pennied guides and he said the district manager forces them to throw each and every one of them away.
 
That is the policy.
Usually if your a good customer, or couple it with an actual purchase you can get away with some.
I'm 5 for 5 on my last five trips. I never grab more than 10.

Hopefully they won't dump them in a landfill but recycle them. Wiping ass with toilet papers recycled from FF guides is better than some damn ecstacy :lol:
 
ok, this time i went to a different cashier than last time (he told me they were full price) and picked up starcraft 2, alan wake, and halo odst. yay ;) these are going on my trade list by the way.
