Resident Evil 4 Wii - $19.99 on Black Friday! 750,000 copies sold around the globe!
Some people just dont want to learn waggle.
Waggle? :whistle2:(

I know about shaking enemies off and it sounds like it mixes in well because its a hectic thing but I hope knife action isn't waggly. If you waggle more than twice, you're just playing with it.
I don't see the point of wanting GC controls for the Wii version. If you want GC controls so bad just get one of the many versions already out. The old controls only make the game harder (if true), because they are sluggish and less precise. That's a good thing?
Gamecube controls in the Wii version make it the definite version of Resident Evil 4.

I'm playing the Japanese ver and it's quite good.
The true widescreen makes an impression, it looks great.
The new controls took a little getting use to, but they are more intuitive and engaging. My GF tried the game on my cube before, but lost interest because she felt that using the cube controller was too confusing, but she wrapped her head around the wiimote scheme very easily and proceeded to slaughter the cows and chickens.
Aiming is much faster now that you just point and shoot, and the game feels revitalized because this changes the feel of shooting noticeably.
It is even more satisfying now.
I'm not sold yet, not until I see some US reviews. Famitsu's more recent high scores didn't translate as well to me as they used to in the past. If I'm not mistaken, they gave both FFXII and Nintendogs perfect scores and I found both of them to be 'great' at best.
Exactly, coming from reviewers who give Gundam games 8s and 9s, I just dunno...

It's a moot point because it has GC control's now, so even if you didn't want to use the Wii controls, it still has the GC controls, the same controls every other reviewer gave 9's and 10's too, then all the bonus stuff on top of that.

Wait, what? It DOES? I skimmed over that part. For $30 this is the BEST edition you can get. Can't wait till June 19th or so for the American version.

Yea, Botticus posted that someone else posted that, at least in the Japanese one, you can plug in a GC controller and you're set - it even changes the QTE's and stuff back to button presses.

It apparently isn't listed in the manual at all, but if you plug in the controller and turn off the remote, GC controls for you!

This and UC are my most wanted right now.

Will it have classic controller support then?
Will it have classic controller support then?
Survey says... yes!

GameCube/Classic Controller Support
Yes, both alternative Wii compatible controllers work perfectly with RE4 and control exactly like the GC version did (in respect to aiming - the PS2 version's aiming was slower and less accurate for some reason). The laser returns for aiming. And when buttons are prompted, whether its with the GC or Classic controllers, pictures of the Classic controller's button show up. So if Wii aiming is not your thing, these options are inserted here as an alternative.

This is good news, but I find it strange that all this extra controller support would be undocumented by Capcom. I think that support for the GC pad and the CC would push some fence sitters over the edge into buying the game, and equate to more sales for Capcom. I wonder if the US release will mention this support on the back of the box?

I'll most likely get this when it hits 20$. Such a great game and a few upgrades are reason enough to play through it again. I plan on selling my Cube RE4 and put it towards this at GameCrazy when I find a good price there to buy.
Support M-rated Games!
Why? I prefer to support good games. RE4 of course fits this discription.
I thought at first he was holding a Wiimote in the first pic.

Or is he....
I didn't see the gun at first and thought he was cutting his own hand

The color looks better on the CG version to my eye. Its really nit-picking and I might be going crazy, but the skin tones look better on the GC to me.

I beat the cube version once. I started a second go-through when the Wii version was announced. I paid $10 for it at TRU and just traded it in at GS for $9.80. Best 20 cents I ever spent. Got over 30 hours of game play.

I absolutely will be getting the Wii version and most likely will get UC and Manhunt 2 (if they get decent reviews.)

Dang, you get $9.80 credit for RE4 at GS? I have some games I was planning on selling, but I'm tihnking I might just say screw it and trade them in on something.

Does that current promption stack with the Edge card? So that I could get 40% more if I trade in 5 or more games? (30% for the promotion + 10% for the card)?

/thread derail.

I'm pumped for RE4 again in Wii-glory. :)

What's UC?
Any word on if the Wii version will be able to grab the saved game from a GC memory card?
Highly, highly doubtful. Then again, if this game truly does support the GC controller, that means it could be possible. It would actually be pretty damn cool if it did support that. That would put me on the fence about getting it. I beat RE4 on the GC and I've always wanted to play through it again. Playing with Wii controls could make that 2nd playthrough more enjoyable.

43,000 units sold first week in Japan. Nothing stellar, but considering it's the third release of the game, and priced somewhere between an average DS game and an average Wii game there (maybe the equivalent of a $40 game here?), not too shabby.

I wonder what Capcom's benchmark for success is for this game? I hope they're not expecting it to sell a million copies. Like you said, this is the third release of a game that came out over two years ago.

If it sticks in the top 30 next week, it might be able to grab 100k in Japan lifetime. Figure at least double that based on size of market and lower cost in the US, leaving 100k for Europe... should be doable.

I got the Gamecube version fairly cheap back in the day and beat it several times. I must nab the Wii version simply for the fun controls and seperate ways.
Any word on if the Wii version will be able to grab the saved game from a GC memory card?
I highly doubt that.

It would be a bummer if it didn't accept the GC saves and then "resave" the Wii version to the internal flash. It's not like when the GC is on it only has access to the GC stuff is true for the Wii. The Wii, when in its own mode, has access to everything. Should be a fairly straight forward thing to do. But I agree, it probably isn't the case.
Any word on price here for sure. I mean it is $29.99 here correct?
Yep.

Preordered from Buy.com for $8.99 shipped. $3.99 after PriceGrabber rebate.
