Resident Evil 5 -Gen. Discussion - Lost In Nightmares & Desperate Esacpe DLC Out Now!
Are you guys playing single player or co-op? Me and a buddy are gonna try and do this entirly co-op.
Honestly, after playing through the whole game with a friend, I question how much time I'm actually going to spend playing alone. The AI is a complete nuisance and takes a lot of the enjoyment out of it. They stick to me like glue at all times to the point that they're usually standing right in the way or otherwise obscuring my view.

From everyone's posts it sounds like co-op is the way to go. I just feel bad for my buddy since he got his copy yesterday and I'm still waiting to get mine in from Gamefly.

Oh yeah, it's horrible about that. I don't know how many times I have ran away while fighting the chainsaw to turn a 180 and whip my sniper rifle on him only to have my partner post up right in front of me. The AI is also really bad about moving in order to be able to hit the enemy or determining if they are hitting the enemy or you. While I was in the mine I don't Sheva hit anything but me. Dumb skank!
What controller settings are you guys using?
Type-D, default.

I've really had no quarrels with the controls. Occasionally in the thick of things I've shot instead of stabbed, or quick-turned when I didn't mean to, but overall the controls do what I need them to do.

I thought there was a way to move and shoot at the same time?

I've played the first 2 chapters with my friend. And will continue playing the rest with a friend.
Only problem I have is with the controls. But you do get use to them. I'm a FPS player though.

Not to spam the forum, but I just picked up the game as a rental. If anyone wants to play some co-op from the start, please pm me here or on xbl (udabenshen).

A few comments about the game-

1) It's really easy to exploit the game. All you need to do is start a co-op online, pick up some goodies and then have your friend pull his cord. You'll be able to over-write your equipment with the new equipment and start the chapter over from the beginning, where there's more goodies. If someone uses this in the part of the game where there's like 2 stacks of gold and 3 treasure items, they could easily upgrade all their weapons to max before even starting Chapter 2.

2) Enemies take WAY too many bullets to kill and you can't buy bullets from the shop. I think it's a little unrealistic to shoot a guy 8 times in the head to kill him. On veteran I can understand but on normal?

3) The AI is garbage, but I consider this to be a refined Army of Two with zombies. Didn't plan on playing it much offline.

Other than that, I'm really loving the game. The survivor aspect is gold.

I'm sure this might be a problem at the begining (I know it was in the demo) but wouldn't it get better once you start upgrading your weapons?

Not really. I mean even if you fully upgrade the pistol, which costs a ridiculous amount of money, it'd still take 7-8 bullets instead of 10-11.

I mean, I know it's a survival horror game, but it doesn't make sense for bullets to be scarce AND enemies to take this many shots this early.

What makes it worse is that an enemy is never really dead.

Zombies turn into the flying things and dogs have two stages and sometimes when you headshot a zombie which saves bullets, he gets one of those worm head things which takes another 15 shots to kill. It's kind of stupid that Capcom resorted to such cheap in-game enemies to make the game challenging.

I think you're way off on your numbers and you can truly kill a zombie, just aim for the parasite or step on the parasite's head.

Also, try using melee attacks and the knife. It works wonders, especially the stun baton.

By the end of upgrading, zombies die from one shot.

Hell, even bosses will die in a few shots.

Not everyone has 100k this early in the game to fully upgrade their weapons. It takes a little time.

And I don't even know when you get the stun baton.

I have two Words

STUN BATON

Takes care of those enemies with there heads flailing around nicely. Co-Op partner and I have used it more than the games in a sense lol.

My friend and I have been using the stun baton regularly to try and get the 30 kills achievement and it's been a very powerful weapon.

Just don't use it with the dudes with spears... they don't take kindly to random swinging and will stab the shit out of you. :whistle2:#

Ok, I fucking fucking fucking hate the tribal giants. lol...That aside I just started today and now I'm on chapter 3-1. Can anyone tell me if there are many occurences with the giants?

There's more in the fourth chapter. Not a lot of occurrences though.

So far I'm really enjoying the game, but I can't help thinking that RE4 did so many things better. Especially the inventory system...I miss my briefcase. Although I can see why it wouldn't work in a coop game.
I am going to start the game today. Just wondering what difficulty I should start on? Anyone know how veteran is?
My first playthough was on veteran. It was tough at some points, with most of the battles I was getting into I would only have 1-6 bullets left after. When I finished it though I felt really good that I stuck with the harder difficulty on my first playthrough.

1.) Exploits have gone farther than that now. The popular one is the Rotten Egg one, really easy to get 90,000 in gold in less than 5 minutes. You need to progress through the game before you can fully upgrade certain weapons. For example I am on chapter 4-2 and I can not upgrade my New Magnum to the fullest yet. It is upgraded, but I notice that after I beat a level the wepon will become upgradeable again.

2.) It is a game, to expect realism with bullet hits? Thats funny, I know what you are saying though. But it goes with there story line and they are infected. So in fact it is Capcoms realm we are playing in and if they say it takes so many hits than that is the realm of Biohazzard.

3.) AI as Sheva is garbage, that little whore goes out and takes any ammo she feels fit. I wish that there where better ways to control her, but at least it is a blast to play online with friends.

The only problem I am having so far is getting the works achievement. Any help or suggestions would be great. I also need a rotton egg on the PS3 version so I can get my character up to speed with my 360 character. Anyone find a rotton egg earlier than stage 4-1?

Did get that achievement quite early cause we use that damn Stun Baton so damn much lol. Gotta say, I will play this again when my other friend buys this since I'll play as Sheva.

http://planetresidentevil.gamespy.com/wiki/Resident_Evil_5_Weapons#Thrown_Weapons

Possible Spoilers on that Page but its a good listing of most if not all of the Weapons in RE5

And Also here is a link to the official RE5 Prima Guide Possible Spoilers and its an 8MB sample

But it does show the different Knife types But does not say how to unlock them.

So theres a ton of weapons and upgrades, Much more than Resident Evil 4

I do miss the Merchant and Brief case.

and Sheva is best used as a "Pack Mule" basically giving you more Carry inventory space than even REsident Evil 4.

Basically keep her in Defensive Mode and give her a Stun Rod, and no health items.

Odd, I already got the achievement for unlocking all the available weapons and some of those weapons listed in that wiki either don't exist or are named wrong.

Start up a regular single player game and once the game loads just press start on the second controller. Sign into a profile if you want to save progress for the second player, but I don't think that's required.

Picked this up on impulse this morning, played it on and off most of today and I am thoroughly satisfied. I am really enjoying the co-op. If anyone wants to join me GT is same as username.

Question to anyone who's completed the game:

When Chris first gets that little gadget thing and see's Jill on the screen, Chris experiences a flashback. What is that flashback from? Is it a re-worked scene from an event in RE2 or RE3 (I haven't played either), or is it an event unique to this game? (No spoilers though, please).

It's either a unique event or something from Umbrella Chronicles (IDK, never played UC).

loving this.
not finding sheva to be as big a problem as others though. shes not great. but i think i do an alright job with managing her inventory....

Yeah the only problems I have with her AI is that she always seems to use Pistols until she runs out of ammo for them even when there is large groups of enemies, and she doesn't use enough melee attacks, she should do more shoot the shins and melee attacks to conserve ammo.

With inventory being real time I just give her most of the healing items so I don't have to worry about healing myself.

To anyone who's beaten the game on a higher difficulty. Say you beat the game on Veteran, do you also unlock the achievements for the lower difficulties as well, or does one have to play through each difficulty to get them?

From what I've read you do get achievements for lower difficulties if you beat it on a higher one.

I just started my first night of co-op and this game seems very short. We only played for a few hours and I'm already 1/3 into the game. Don't get me wrong I love RE5. I'm having a blast, but I'm glad I didn't cave-in and buy it.

This is true. If you beat the game on veteran you get all the lower difficulty ones as well.

I totally agree with the pistol thing. So when I play with her I made an MG her standard weapon and make the pistol mine. Then I'll take along a sniper, and give her a shot gun or vice versa.

There's also a delay for when the AI will step in and save you; if they decide to at all. Half the time I only get out of danger because I wiggle the stick.

In general the AI isn't the worst thing ever but you definitely have to do a little bit of baby sitting.

beat the game and man
the ending was so stupid, and the game was far to linear and short. Who else would like to see a return to raccoon and real zombies in the next one.

Question on the formation of the BSAA as I'm at 4-2:

Do you ever find out who were all of the original 11 BSAA agents? I know Chris and Jill are two of them, and I assume Leon is the third. What about the other 8 or does the game never say?
