btw anyone who has completed the entire game, what was your average rating on the final main story missions of the game? Despite getting A/B/B average I am having trouble unlocking the final second part of Wesker's mission. Do you have to have like a B or higher rating on ALL scenarios across the entire game?
I unlocked Wesker's 2nd mission, and it only unlocks when you beat Ada's mission. In order to get her's, you have to beat the 3rd Desctruction of RC level with an A.

I was confused by it, too.

All I have left to finish is the final Wesker and the Fourth Survivor... so, some more thoughts.

Ok, the first 2 parts of the RE3 scenario... what in the hell did those have to do with RE3? Admittedly, the 2nd part was cool, as it reminded me of Silent Hill, but it had NOTHING to do with RE3. The third part redeemed it, aside from the horrible Nemesis voice change.

Now... since it's new stuff, I'll spoiler tag my thoughts on the 4th scenario:
Wow, that was a let-down. That's the 'fall of Umbrella'? I'm not sure why that had more of an effect that the destruction of other labs, but ok. Also, TALOS was ridiculously stupid. Honestly, I thought I was playing some horrible House of the Dead knock-off. He was too clean, too built, too armed... it was just bad and uncreative. Personally, the 'extra' missions are BY FAR better than anything in the main game. Oh, and seriously... we get it, laser hallways, great. It's not like they force every character to be an EXPERT ACROBAT or anything. Christ. Those movies were awful, so why must you remind us?

Anyway, here's the thing... I've ALWAYS hated how they retconned Wesker into the main villain of the series. I understand that he had personality, and people love guys who wear sunglasses all the time, and all black clothes... but it was unnecessary. Umbrella was fine as the main antagonist of the series, and to finish it's 'story' in this game is a real let-down, as the entire scenario played out like a half-baked shooter, NOT an RE game. At least the other scenarios had the RE vibe.... the fourth lacked it completely.

Regardless, I enjoyed the game, but it's a shame it wasn't built like RE4. I love the RE series, but I hate the new mythos that they've created. Unfortunately, this game was dripping with the latter.

Ok what the hell?
Can someone give me a run down on each of what's graded.
This one mission, I thought we did really well. We destroyed a lot of stuff, collected a lot of files, killed practically everyone and only continued ONCE..and yet, we still got a C?!

Enemy Hits..what does this mean? How many times the enemy hits you..OR how many times you hit OR killed an enemy???
I just don't get how we are getting C's and the ocasional B. We ARE finding files and stuff because we are shooting as many lights and frames and anything else that will break.

It's getting kinda frustrating since we think we're doing pretty well..and..only getting a C. ANY HELP?!?!

I just read the FAQ over at gamesfaq.com I was like you got to be fucking kidding me... Get an A Ranking on Racoon's Destruction to unlock Death's door then you got to get a high rank on that in order to unlock Wesker's final Mission part 2?!?!?!?!?

I avoided playing the unlocked sub missions until I finished the main story. I didn't want to be distracted by the sub missions. This is fucking redicilous Capcom!!!

God damn it, does that mean I have to waste my ammo blowing up objects where a file would be most likely NOT be hidden?!?!? I mean come on who the fuck hides secrets inside of a ceiling lamp??!??!!!??!?

Also you would think a rocket hit in the mouth or face would be insta kill in this game right? WRONG!!! Fired 4 MLR's at the Nemesis' face and it's still NOT DEAD!!!

Umm... ok, I could be TOTALLY wrong here, but what difficulty are you playing on? Maybe the game has a curve system based on the difficulty. Or perhaps it's because it's two player. Again, could be completely wrong, but just tossing that out there.

All I know is that I've been playing on normal the whole time, by myself, and have NEVER come close to going below a B ranking on anything.

haha... yeah, you'd think that.

Like I said, I'm not saying that's what's doing it, but I'm almost certain it is. Unless one of you really, really sucks. ;)

What exactly does enemy hits mean? I mean, I just don't get what we are doing wrong. We usually get the S on time. Get an A on files obtained and USUALLY an S or an A on Items destroyed. But the "Enemy Hits" and "Criticals" is what's fucking us up. How many criticals for a B? A? S?! We understand HOW to get them, and have done pretty well, in OUR opinion..LOL..but yeah..need those 2 cleared up for me
We've been playing co-op on EASY. WTF?

You'd think it'd be ..EASIER.. to get better grades. Ya know?!
nah... maybe less enemies or slower enemies on easy. I am playing Medium and the game is still pissing me off.
CheapyD and a few other people live in Japan. I'm sure you could work out a deal with one of them.
Ok, I'm not entirely sure how it's graded, but it does appear that Enemy Hits is how many times you... uh, hit the enemy. I don't know if the grade you get is on a scale, or some kind of ratio of fired/hit.. but my guess is the latter. I assume that, because if Criticals are their own category which gets a better grade for the more you get, if you got nothing BUT criticals, your Enemy Hit count would be fairly low, so a simple low-high scale for Enemy Hits doesn't really make sense.

Now, the first recommendaton is... bump the difficulty. I played on normal the whole time, and it wasn't a hassle. Then, I even played a bit on hard last night, and it didn't seem much worse. Also, you get MUCH higher ranks for playing on hard, unless I just managed to be playing REALLY well last night. My only problem, which kept dragging down my average, was Files Obtained. Obviously, it's an overall rank, so if you already collected say 5/8, you'd get a B even if you went through and didn't get any more. It makes sense, but it's still a shame that it drags down the average, as you unlock things by getting an S rank on everything. That may be only for hard, but it's a shame, since I seem to be getting mostly S ranks on EVERYTHING else, but I haven't collected most of the files, nor do I feel like spending the time to search for them. I mean, obviously I shoot a lot of objects, but finding files just comes down to luck sometimes.

Any of that help?

I picked it up and am having fun with it, but was surprised that there really is no blood in the game. Shooting the zombies just does not feel satisfying to me.

Yeah, it does make sense that an enemy hit is the amount of times you hit the enemy! But this one level, I had about 140 enemy hits, and my friend got like 120! We BOTH got C's. Now does this game recognize co-op?! I mean, maybe 140 is "LOW"..but..if my friend got another 120, how come we both seem to get penalized?! You know what I'm saying? It's silly that I can get a bunch of criticals, but my enemy hits count is low..ugh. This scoring system is really weird in this game!! I'll tell him we'll be doing medium tonight and see how we rank.

Hey..BTW! If I collected files on a level on EASY, when I replay it on Medium..will I have to find them again..?

hehe I found an amusing glitch....

In the subway level of Raccoon's Destruction... If you get into a zombie shake off mode, usually the camera pulls back while you zap the zombie with the stun gun. Which usually kills the zombie and pushes a few of them back in the process. Well in that level, the camera doesn't go back behind Jill, but instead goes to below her legs :O

Anyways, has anyone completed a level using JUST the standard pistol? Maybe using more powerful weapons is what brings down your rank.

A post from gamefaqs that seems helpful about rankings:
You get S rank for getting good ranks at:

- Time: Don't die and you probably do fine. If you don't get S even without dying, then you are taking too long to kill the boss.
- Enemies hit: this is the ammount of enemies you kill. Killing leaches with grenades help a lot. There will be many moments where you'll see many enemies but your character soon ignores, throw a grenade at them to increase your kill count.
- Critical hits: The critical shots you hit. Note: You have to kill the enemy with that critical hit, some enemies have critical points but they not always die with one shot at that critical point. For zombies, the critical point is in the head, more specific: The brains. Aim at the brains, and you'll notice the aim will turn a red point: that means its a critical point.
-Objects destroyd: shoot everything shootable. Grenades also help for this a lot.
- Files: the files hidden around the level. Good news is: once you get them, it'll count as you have them even if you are playing another difficulty. So one time only.

If you play Co-Op, enemies hit, critical hits and objects destroyed will NOT BE SHARED. Therefore, unless your friend kills very little and doesn't destroy as much as you do, it'll be hard for you to get that S.

I don't have this game yet, so a question about the cursor. How does it compare to the cursor in ZeldaTP or Link's CBT. I find those to be extremely laggy and detract from my performance.

WOW Thanks for the info... I am going to fire it up now and try this. I usually save my grenades for giant mobs of zombies. Using them on leeches and other bug crap is a waste.. Gonna use the MRL or whatever it's called on those mini bosses hehe :)

Ok, I did LOTS of critical head shots and tossed a few grenades here and there. That turned my C average for the first 2 parts of RE0 into A's and a B on the last part of RE0. Problem I am having is that if I take the MRL on the last mission, I have to waste a few rounds on the Tyrant, Marcus' first form, and his second form when he tries to chase me up the elevator shaft. I usually have nothing left for the final battle with him, and yes this is with a fully upgraded MRL with 8 slots. Tried this with the grenade launcher as well. Because of the Tyrant, those DAMN MONKEYS, Marcus' first form chasing you up the shaft, it takes a LONG time to kill it and I die multiple times bringing down my grade. Also tried this with my upgraded Submachine guns with 700 rounds for that level. Again, ran out of bullets by the time I got to Marcus' final form. I think I am going to try to upgrade the assault shotgun and hopefully do more damage with fewer rounds.

I need to get an A or S ranking.
Uhh. How come the 4th chapter didn't unlock? Tell me we need all A's or something...

I am really tempted to buy the hint guide for this game...but it doesn't come with a nice poster like the other games did :(

can you fucking believe it? My batteries DIED just as I was about to go re-kill that worm in RE3.......

No warning what so ever :|

argh... oh well I can replace them easily but it just plain sucks that it happened.

That does suck, but I'm sadly sort of happy that it's a game that DOESN'T feel the need to remind you that your batteries are low every 2 minutes.

I love Galaxy, I do... but really, the battery warnings were extremely annoying. Of course, my batteries lasted for another THREE to FOUR hours after the warnings started, but that's fine.

Then, of course, is the Godfather, which you can't even play with 'red' batteries. Nice job, EA.

Oh... so those that beat UC, did anyone beat the 'special stage' yet? Do you get anything for it?
I still haven't unlocked The Fall of Umbrella.. What do I do?
I played through every mission, both the main story and the side missions, and thankfully got it. It was in Normal and we were averaging a B or B- or so.

Give us the scores you got on each mission in each scenario.

I did like a C average in RE0, B in RE1 and a C in RE3 and it unlocked TFoU for me.
How in the hell does one defend against Nemesis' underground tentacles?
lol I asked that a few days ago....

Well you can't really defend yourself against those things. If you have a shotgun, try to use that to hurt them, but chances are you are going to get hit, but to as much.

Well that's bad news. I tried to beat him two or three times last night and ended up quiting in frustration. I have a feeling that it would be much easier with a second person.

Yeah... I also have no idea how to stop them. It makes no sense.

Obviously, you shoot them, and they feel it, but it doesn't seem to effect them in any way.

Either we're missing some extremely simple, or it's just poor boss design.

poor boss design. See if this game allowed for full 360 view, then you could turn around and hit his arm and get rid of them. Yes it takes awhile to beat nemesis. Just keep firing on his face.
It seems like shooting them while they're streaming toward you underground may have some effect, although I could be wrong.
yes your right , if you look carefully they tend to glow white and look a bit stunned.

so, Post-Mortem- What's the consensus on this? Worth $50? It might be a post christmas purchase, and I think it'll get traded in used pretty quick. Unless it's more feature-rich than I thought.

Honestly I think so.

It has a high (not very high replay value).. You have to get like an A average in most of the missions if you want to unlock most of the importaint sub missions.

Ok, I went back to the RE Scenarios and raised my grades to B, A, A which unlocked Ada's mission. Suprisingly I did well enough to get an A in that level.

I recommend using an upgraded shotgun for that level, you are going to need it.

This game is pissing me off big time.
Putting the game on Medium, we seemed to get an S on the very first mission.. a few A's.. some B's.

But ya know what's pissing me off?!?! It's like.. we HAVE to split things up. I have to say.. Ok I'll go for the kills/criticals! You destroy stuff and find the files! That's DUMB! This is CO-OP! We just now got a B ranking on Racoon City's first mission..and what hurt us was our kills & criticals. We had exactly 95 kills each! I HATE that the game is looking at it as "95 kills?! FAIL." When it's 190 kills total! If I had gotten 190 kills in single player, I would of most likely gotten an S or an A. Same for critcals. I had 16, he had 13. Had I got 29 I would of been rewarded with at least an A! I'm so mad because I really am enjoying this game, but to move on we have to get better rankings, and that's getting kinda hard since we have to play a certain way (i.e. I kill/get criticals, he destroys stuff/finds files)

Other then that, it's great. But damn. I'm getting kinda fed up :whistle2:(

Seriously?

If I get like 10 head shots and blow up at least 25-40 objects, it really ups my rank. It might be making things harder for you to get a higher rank when your playing co-op.

Yay I just finished Ada's Mission and unlocked Wesker's final mission part 2. I took along the MRL, unloaded that AND the anti tank missile I picked up on the way in. Fired all 4 MRL and the Anti tank missile and a hundred rounds of machine gun ammo and killed that Russian :) Got an A rank :)

Saw the final ending and the clear version of it vs the Youtube one

When wesker uploads the Umbrella data to his computer, it points out to several other locations including Japan, south pole, asia, North america..

I unlocked Hunk's mission so I will play that tomorrow.

Few days ago, I went back and did the solo missions and I even did some of the regular missions by myself. I had gotten an S and a few A's. So it's like.. the game penalizes you for playing in co-op.

The problem is that we are killing practically everyone, and breaking almost everything. However, if there's 100 enemies in a level.. alot of times we get 50 enemies each. Because I killed 50 enemies, the game basically said I did horrible and gives me (and him) a C for enemy kills. Same for criticals. This is why I'm pissed off. I got this game so we can play it in co-op. We are having a blast, but c'mon now. It should tally up your scoreS into ONE score and then rank it.

^ that's what's making this game kinda painful for me.

hmm maybe you are right. I guess Capcom ups the requirements because they know 2 players can waste everyone in this game easly. Don't give up man!

I just wish there was a cut scene viewer because some of these cutscenes are nicely detailed.

Here's the thing, though... just from what you're saying, lilboo, and the fact that HALF of the missions are single-player only until you beat the game... it seems that Capcom intended this to be a single player game. So, I guess that maybe it *does* penalize you for playing on co-op.

Really, it seems the intention was to beat it as a single player, and then play through again with another player. Here's a question, is there one overall ranking per level, or is there a seperate ranking for both single and co-op?

If it's all one ranking, then perhaps you ARE supposed to beat it single player, gain relatively high rankings, and then go through with another player in order to, say, collect all of the files more easily.

Again, just throwing some stuff out there. I enjoyed the game, but I admit that I'm glad I got with leftover credit I had at a local store. If I had dropped the full $50, I would've been slightly annoyed. It's a solid enough game, but it does feel either rushed, or that Capcom didn't polish it the way it needed to be. I mean, hell, look at the Zapper set-up for a demonstration of that. The settings are for the Wiimote in the Zapper, and the nunchuk seperate? Oh yeah, Capcom, that makes sense.

So, for the person who asked, that's my response... it's an okay game, worth between $20-30, but certainly not $50. It helps to be an RE fan going in, obviously, but it also hurts, as well. Some of the changes and choices in this game are just baffling, and off-putting (I.E. Nemesis voice). So, again... for cheaper, great... for $50, merely passable.

The levels get one overall ranking. But it's based on the average of BOTH scores. At the end of each level it shows "Player 1" and "Player 2" scores. They totally fucked that up big time. If in a level the required kills are 80 for an S...I could kill 50, and my friend could kill 35. We would both get a C. (Well in that case..with a 50/80, I might get a B..) But usually we get C's in enemy kills. The criticals we do pretty well once in a while. The objects and files are ok.

YET, files obtained count as 1 score. Which I find ridiculous. Why are they going to count files obtained as it's own score, REGARDLESS of whoever picked it up..and yet..let us suffer on enemy hits and criticals.

All they had to do was to tally up our stats at the end of each level and THEN rank it. Hell, I would of been cool if they raised the bar on co-op levels. But since it's 2 different scores.. Ugh.

I just don't get the point. An on rails shooter with the Wii Zapper. This is meant for 2 players. The levels are based on TWO people. The game should treat you BETTER for just doing co-op!

It's only making me irate because I like the game so much! :bomb:

Like I said, it's indicative of the lack of thought and polish that Capcom put behind the game.

Files get one rank simply because they carry over. It really doesn't matter how many you picked up on the particular run... it's an overall rank. Say you already have 7/8 files for a level, which would give you an A ranking everytime, no matter whether you find the final file or not. They have to do it that way, because the files disappear each time you find one.

I agree, though, it's an incredibly stupid system. I only ended up going through it one-player because no one had the time to go through it with me right when I got it. Sadly, it seems I lucked out on that, which is great for me, but does sort of ruin the expierience of 'discovering' the game with a second player.

I can't even remember how many times I wished someone was with me so I could applaud what the game did right.... and eviserate all it did wrong. Now, of course, it's going to be slightly less interesting, as I've gone through the game twice, and essentially know the entire game front-to-back.

I'm just amazed that the company who produced the PERFECT RE4 port (gameplay, content, price) could bungle this one so badly. It's like Capcom sort of went... 'oh, they all bought that, so let's toss something else RE out there'. Though, in their defense, maybe they just wanted to get it out by Christmas.

... by the way, I realize I'm complaining about the game a lot, but I *did* enjoy it. I don't want anyone getting thte wrong impression.
