Resistance 2 CAG Clan/Night - Get yo ass on! - Friday Nights @ 7PM PST/10PM EST
Alright I'm jumping in headfirst to this tonight. So please understand why I'll be blundering around getting shot up.
I'll also be playing more, if for no other reason than to watch Zenprime blunder around and get shot up.Your newtype warhawk piloting skills can't help you here:twoguns: I will be late on Wednesdays because of school.

R2 night will be tomorrow, starting at 9:30pm EST.

I'm actually debating right now about giving Warhawk Saturday night fully, and allowing R2 to have Friday night fully (since I seem to see people play R2 a lot on Friday night), but I'm still debating.

I'll definitely try to hop in tomorrow. I don't really have an opinion on R2 Fridays, other than the fact it will make Friday much more appealing. Do whatever you think will work, only one way to find out after all.

Whoever designed the last level in co-op needs acid thrown in their face. It is the worst designed level ever. I hate protection missions in any form, but it's even more annoying when the damn level is a complete maze and you can't get to the guy you're supposed to protect. So one guy gets lucky and goes in and the rest of the team can't figure out where to go, which screws everything up. And instead of the comp staying in one location, he moves around and gets himself killed. I've failed 3 missions because of this crap. Thats 20-30 minutes down the drain each time.

Soldier just takes way too long to level up. I probably won't platinum the game because of it. I'm only at level 16 and I only have 5 more co-op missions to do and I'm completely done with everything. Meanwhile, the medics can play with both hands down their pants and still get an assload of experience. Totally stupid.

Let me just say early on, leveling up the soldier takes time (or any class, including medic now). Once you get to level 12 or so, it becomes easier. Once you get to level 16 or so, it seems like you are gaining a level every few matches. I mean, I use to start out barely making over 10k experience, and later on I could get over 40k experience (20k happened almost every match). Just keep sticking to it. I already got all my co-op trophies.

As for the last co-op mission, I actually like it a lot. My only disliking for it is getting lost, but I love it because it seems the most varied every time I play it, and I usually earn no less than 25k experience.

To let everyone know, there's no guarantee I'll be there at 9:30pm EST. I'm watching the NBA All-Star weekend right now and there's no way I want to miss the PlayStation Skills Challenge (Derrick Rose from my favorite NBA team is participating).

I should be on (not sure how the turnout will be).

EDIT: R2 night will not really be official tonight. I may be on a little with a college friend, which anyone would be more than welcome to join.

A few weeks back Mana and I were actually discussing how long it took to level up the Soldier. I found it weird that I'd be in matches with other soldiers and performing just as well as they were, but they would somehow magically get 40,000 experience while I only got 15,000.

From what I can tell, the experience that you gain scales as your levels go up. So the same performance is worth more at higher levels than it is at lower levels.
Not anymore, they can't.
Then how do I see medics on my team with 20-30k more experience than me each game?

I'm level 16. It is taking FOREVER to level. It's not like I suck either. I just don't get it. The last level is fun because you get to do a lot of killing and get a lot of experience, but the level design is garbage. We constantly get lost. And that protecting the one guy mission is crap.

you can get more xp from being a higher level and the perks associated in addition to being a good role player. the more xp and greytech you get, the more upgrades you have accessed to. they really help.

for medics, chloro + voltatic armor is pretty sick. chloroform by itself is really nasty. for everything you zap with chloro, you get timed xp gain as it slowly poisons them. plus, there is the benefit of halting enemies' progress.

And again I fail the mission because the guy you're supposed to protect runs right into the enemies and gets himself killed. They cannot have protection missions on these long ass levels. It completely sucks. Half an hour down the drain.

You usually need a good group of people who are quick and don't die a lot to finish them. However, you do NOT need them finished to get all the trophies, Bryce Canyon and Holland Tower have several mission routes, and both have one you are more likely to fail than pass. All you can at least do is just be glad you kept your experience although you failed the mission (failing a mission isn't really much to be ashamed of). If you want to quickly get all mission reports, just search for the list of co-op games, join a game in-progress and one that has 6-7 people (of a particular map) and most likely you'll pass the mission. It's really just important to keep playing missions, whether you fail or pass, because gaining experience is the key thing you want out of it along with gray tech.

I actually did this last night, on Bryce Canyon only, and won 3/3 times.

I did more missions last night and thankfully got 3 in a row that didn't involve the protecting part. I got the Gold trophy for Co-op. Yay! Now all I need to do is get 10k kills, beat game on insane, and rank up in co-op.

10K!, level 30, and spinners yesterday. im just missing the stupid intel and superhuman that ill probably get today.

I just got this game yesterday and played about 7 hours and am have 2 levels left in the campaign. It looks like you guys are still active? I will apply to the clan and try to play Wednesday night if possible. I have a bluetooth so I can talk. Hope you guys let me in, should be fun!

Yeah this week was kinda bad. we didn't play wednesday or Saturday but it was a fluke. we are still alive and kicking(knock o wood) hopefully this doesn't change once street fighter comes out...

Wednesday just ended short since I had to get off earlier (due to job interview). I changed plans for Wednesday at the last minute since my interview was a little later than expected.

Regardless, we WILL play on Wednesday, unless something major comes up. I'll be on regardless.

Yay. I'm really enjoying R2 online to my surprise.

I know this is the R2 board, but the R1 board is pretty much dead. I was just curious if the Co-op mode in Resistance 1 is available from the very beginning when you boot up the game? Someone told me that it was only available after beating the game in single player campaign mode. Is that true? Also, is it just local or is there online coop?

^^^ I'm not sure, but someone else may know.

To let everyone know, I still start the party at 9:30pm. We'll start off with co-op with a smaller group, but then get into competitive later. If the party gets very big, then we can only do competitive. For the most part, it will be 2 co-op, then 1 competitive, and keep alternating. This time I will throw in a TDM.

As long as there is no Core Control. Don't like Core Control.

IIRC Co-op is available right away. And it's local only.

lol. Going for a full day of R2 Mana?

I'll see if I'm game tonight. My friend were supposed to call me to hang out yesterday if not today.. so we'll see if they do. I've been a laundry master since I got home from work so far and I wouldn't mind blowing a few people/aliens up before I call it a night.

As a warning to everyone, I'm in an extremely social mood tonight, so you might hear me talk more than usual. :p

There's no doubt I'll be on. If we don't fill up the party and a few of my college friends are online, I may invite them in too (or call them up on my cell phone).

I'm kind of absorbed in Fallout 2, and really only interested in co-op, and only available after 10pm, so I probably won't join tonight.

Co-op in R1 is definitely available as soon as you put the game in. Did it myself.

I didn't think that was possible :D I'll jump on ASAP.
I'm super pumped to play tonighttt
Be sure to join the clan. Once you are in the clan, I send invites to those in the clan on.

If we do just co-op, that's fine, I don't really care. Whatever, it will be the first 8 get in. And since I don't have to be up early tomorrow, I will stay up until after 11:30pm EST to play.

God damn! My internet just keeps kicking me out. I don't know what else I can do, I have a wired connection to my wall here, the same that I use for internet on my computer and XBL that has no problems.

Sorry guys...I wanted to play but it's too much disconnects. Any solutions? I had been waiting since Monday to play with you fellas, and now I can't. Booo...
Sorry guys...I wanted to play but it's too much disconnects. Any solutions? I had been waiting since Monday to play with you fellas, and now I can't. Booo...
Are you using a router for the PS3? If you are, open the DMZ on the local IP your PS3 is set to. Many PS3 online games require it (or port forwarding) because your online connection may be too secure (which blocks your access from various things online, causing disconnects). First off, be sure to check your NAT Type under PS3 connection settings list. If it says NAT Type 3, you may have issues (there are many ways to fix it though).

Anyway, that was a lot of fun. Thanks for showing up everyone.

No router for me. Just plugging a cable from the PS3 straight into the wall with an ethernet port. It's the same that I use on my PC and for my Xbox.

I'm still waiting for Mana to post a picture of the screen from the skirmish where I finished in first

Just got this through the CC liquidation. I'm going to join the clan and hopefully show up sometime, although my gaming time is somewhat limited.
No router for me. Just plugging a cable from the PS3 straight into the wall with an ethernet port. It's the same that I use on my PC and for my Xbox.
Hmm, still tell me what type of NAT you are getting from the PS3 under Network settings list.

The thing is, unless you are MS (because they pretty much write software for computers and know the secrets to breaking through holes on a router), games tend to use various ports (pretty much all PS3 online games are this way) and if you are NAT Type 3, it MIGHT have limited your connection. If you NAT Type is 1 (which it should technically be connecting directly to the PS3), you shouldn't have an issue (but we'll look into it). Have you tried playing other games on PS3 and have you had disconnection issues before on the XMB?

Anyway, I'm going to reveal the future schedule of R2 nights:
2/21/09 - Saturday - Starts at 9:30pm EST (no 100% guarantee it will happen)
2/25/09 - Wednesday Starts at 9:30pm EST (100% guarantee)
3/4/09 - Wednesday Starts at 9:30pm EST (100% guarantee)
3/6/09 - Friday Starts at 10pm EST (Very possible)

There may not be an R2 night on Saturday anymore after this week.
What'd he say? Something bizarre always happens in R2 parties. Even Rick Astley made an appearance :D
What I said was a certain player on the other team was tough to kill (he was moving around too much), so I called that person a "frisky" player.

I bought this game 40% of at Circuit City last weekend and I have to say I am really impressed. I've played a fair amount of other online shooters and I have to say this blows them all away, hands down. I'd definitely recommend this game to anyone on the fence about it.

Anyway, I added myself to the clan the other night (PSN ID is WriterDan), but my play schedule is pretty last-minute, so I don't know how many CAG nights I'll be able to make. Anyone who sees me online though, I'm always up for a good match and I'm a pretty decent medic.
How is this game compared to the original? I havent played either yet, but When I played the demo it wasent really my taste.
I will just say it's very different from the original, I mean very different. The only thing similar between the two is Nathan Hale and some weapons. Gameplay is very different. If you are into sci-fi shooters like a Halo or something, you'd probably enjoy it. I like the second way more.

Reminder again, I'll be on tonight with the main party. If people show up we'll play. If people don't show up, we may not play long.
wow this sucks no one is on.
Yeah, Wednesday has done very well, but we've run into issues on Saturday. I put some blame on me for not sending out reminders and just being really tired/busy as of late.

But I will get back on a little after 10pm, and as long as there are at least 2 on, we may just do a little co-op for a bit.

This is the very last R2 night for Saturday anyway (I may have it on another day also, not sure yet).
