Rewarding Achievements - Confirmed!
Lego Star Wars II looks like a good one too. If you play through the whole game looks like you can get around 70% of them
No. Beating the game earns you dick. I think I got 125 for the whole thing.

Most of the achievements in LEGO Star Wars II are earned through beating levels without dying -- which you usually do via the free play mode after you beat them once. You only get 230 points for simply beating the game.

I hope that for this first promotion, gamerscore is not based on calendar year, but since the 360 launch. I'd imagine that's how it will be.

I really need to get off my ass if I expect to have 10000+ by the 12th...

fuck, I'm too lazy to own a 360. I'm a horrible person.

I didn't buy it...it's just the trial!

NBA 2k7 is fairly easy for achievement points, you can get a good 400-500 out of it with out much work. Plus it is a very good game best basketball game I've ever played.

Well if anyones curious I have a few 1k games, or close to it.

Top Spin 2 is a 20 hour + project, at most, and you can get 750 out of the 1000 points playing decently. Amped was fairly easy and enjoyable, managed to rack almost 800 points in less then 10 hours.

Call of Duty 3 450ish points only took me 10 or so hours of gameplay to.

R6Vegas in a few days work, and cheezly earning the multiplayer achivements can get you very close to 700 points or so.

Dynasty Warriors Empires is EXTREMELY easy to earn the 1000 points. It's just a matter of time, but my guess is you could get the 1000 in under 20 hours of gameplay.

Viva Pinata is another VERY easy to get 1000, but it does require some time investment.

Oblivion took alot of work to get the 1000 (aka time) but it was well worth it.

I've heard Condemened was pretty easy to get achivement points but I haven't look into much of it yet.

I plan on picking up King Kong down the road. It's only $12ish shipped used through Amazon, and only $19.99 new! I am also planning on getting Samuari Warriors 2: Empires, and from what I'm reading achivement wise it sounds easy as DW:Empires was, so I can recommend both of these for easy achivements.

Of course 2k6 sports games are REALLY easy to get achivement points :)

College Hoops 2k6 and NBA 2k6 can each net you 1000 points in less than an hour. I already have the NBA 2k6 points though, so I will have to scrap 500 from some other game.
'the hell did that 1 point come from?
I looked at his achievements, it's from UMK3. That one gives you weird numbers that aren't in multiples of 5. He's got a 12, 11 and 8 on there.

I heard Eragon is really easy for achievements so I'm going to play that one once Feb 12th rolls around, combined with NBA 2k7 or NHL 2007

Supposedly NHL 07 you can get 500 points easily with 2 controllers and Eragon you just need to play through twice but it's really easy

Full Auto is a pretty easy one to rack up the points on. If you want to get the full 1000 it does take some effort though.
How is COD2 in terms of difficulty?

I really need suggestions...
Not a good choice. You only get the points for playing on the hardest difficulty and it's pretty difficult.

COD 2... 200 pts no problem, just beat the game... The remaining 800 pts are going to take some effort.
How is COD2 in terms of difficulty?

I really need suggestions...
Call of Duty 2 on Veteran is something you'll have to just go ahead and accept that you'll die a good 50 times before you make your way through the level. I've never been happier in that game than when I hit a checkpoint on that difficulty. With that being said, don't even attempt Call of Duty 3, it's not worth it.

Fusion Frenzy 2 is the easiest game to get achievements on that i've played by far. It took me about 2 and a half hours of gameplay to get all 1000.

QFT.

It's unfortunate since I won't be falling back on old sports within the first few hours of the contest, chances are I won't be able to get a game and the same gos for everyone else. Well, I guess it all depends on how many copies MS is giving away.
I think I captured it pretty well in Post #69.

Can't compare to CoD3. I don't fancy playing any more Veteran CoD after that experience. More like work than gaming.
Yep, that pretty much sums it up. The Veteran difficulty on CoD2 is one of the most frustrating console experiences imaginable. Notice I didn't say difficult because the average, casual video game player can beat it they just need to put in a HELL of a lot of time with it and realize they will die, a lot.
CoD 2 has nothing on DOA4.

I've never been so pissed off in my life while playing that game.
Well the game as a whole is pretty balanced, its ALPHA fucking 152 that's a cheap whore.

Sweet... Sounds like a perfect rental (esp. after reading the EGM reviews). I'm just starting out so I wouldn't get the free copy anyway ;).

I rented it from gameznflix and it's on it's way back now. It's not a good game at all. The most annoying thing is having to sit through the announcer everytime in between minigames online.
REMINDER: there's an attempt for the 1000-people-online achievement on NBA Live 07 tomorrow, so probably a free 100 points for those that have/rent the game.

Its so stupid that they are trying to do that NOW, since your gamerscore has to increase 1500pts starting from when you register on the 12th of Feb. They should have done this next week. Grrr.

Though I suppose if you're trying to increase the total to get one of the other levels of prizes, its something to shoot for.

I haven't had much time to play since I even got my 360- just check out my Gamerscore, lol. Still, I'll be happy to get Contra for free.

Wow....I have COD 3 and COD 2 both veteran achievements. Im not going to get a fuzion frenzy 2. The nxt three games i am getting are NBA Street, Crackdown and MLB 2K7

Hi:

Has anyone mentioned madden yet? the 2006 version gives you 400 points if you play a 30 year franchise. From what I have read online you can get the achivement if you sim the 30 years.

I have simmed 29 years. On Feb 12th I will sim the last year and get a quick 400 points. I will also be playing college hoops 2k6 and get a quick 1,000 points. The other 100 will come from Fight Night. that should bring me up to about 14,000 points total.

I hope they don't run out of prizes on the first day.... I do give it about a week before microsoft says they have run out of prizes.

Kevin
I am still confused. I have at total of about 5700 points. But do they only count the points you got last year (2006)? Can someone clarify?
The total gamerscore that you have when you sign up (starting tomorrow, Feb 12th) is what sets your level. In your case, Level 2. You then have until April 12th to score 1,500 achievement points. If you do, you win whatever prizes were listed for your level. It's in your best interest to sign up and get points as soon as possible though, since they do say prize supplies are limited. While it's not like they can literally "run out" of Contra downloads it does look like they set a maximum value of prizes to give away and that's when they'll "run out".

The part about score per year probably applies to future challenges. Since this one is the first, it's a little different.

Yeah, I think I'm going to sit this one out and wait (hopefully for at least the new quiet-drive model if not the 65 nm or super-secret black one with 120 GB HD and HDMI ). I'll monitor this though to see if they run out of this stuff (even the dashboard themes and such) within a week. If so, I'll be glad I waited. If not, then maybe I can still get in on it in late March or so.

It does seem odd they would even bother with the long deadline if they were going to limit all the prizes to such small numbers though. You would hope from a PR standpoint they keep some of the frivolous ones, at least, unlimited. I think we have already seen the benefit of this program for MS in this thread - people are out buying/renting games just to rack up achievements. (Rentals don't help MS's bottom line but do help with the public perception of the 360 being popular).

I don't think it is going to be as hard to win the level 3 prizes as some seem to think. You have to remember that it is only open to the US, having a 10,000+ gamerscore is still quite a feat, not everyone that qualifies will bother to enter, and not everyone will be able to actually meet the 1,500 extra point requirement. I think our chances are actually pretty good. And you also have to figure that most people with 10,000+ points have already used the games with very easy points to get where they are today anyway, which means they have to find alternate sources of points just like everyone else.

Indeed. Most importantly, it's fostered a fair amount of good will towards MS. Nicely played. Nintendo and Sony would do well to learn from this.

I'd dive in, but there's no way in hell I'd be able to compete in such a short amount of time, even with rentals. I'm launching into the new Phoenix Wright tonight and wanna go straight through it before getting too seriously into anything else. :)

Unfortunately I am level 1 and I really dont care about Contra. I wish I was Level 3 for the free Fuzion Frenzy...

Anybody have any idea when the registration will open up? I have Fight Night Round 3 and NBA Live 06 waiting to try to hurry and get the 1500 points for Fuzion Frenzy 2.

I would guess at 12:00 PST, so maybe 40 more minutes? We just don't know if they'll be prompt or not so I'm just holding off until morning to register.

Well we are eight minutes into Feb 12 and the site still isn't up... perhaps this will be like phase 2 of the Halo beta and go up at 11:xx AM.

Yea I was just over at xbox.com and no sign up just yet. It's 4:24 on the 12th so I thought I'd check before Id hit the hay. I unplugged my 360 on friday and beat GRAW and got to a few other games I haven't been able to play so hopefully when I sign up and I hook into live, I'll have like a sudden increase of achievements, chaching! I was kinda hoping they'd let us exchange our AP for MP ^^
