Rewarding Achievements - Confirmed!

Alright well I finally got through. You should get a confirmation page after hitting "submit" stating:

Registration Successful. Thank you for participating!

My browser either times out when I hit the Sign In button or it brings me to a page that reads:

Sign in to Xbox Rewards Help
[Error symbol] Windows Live ID is unavailable from this site for one of the following reasons:

* This site may be experiencing a problem.
* The site may not be a member of Windows Live ID.

You can:

* You can sign in or sign up at other Windows Live ID sites and services, or try again later at this site.

What a bummer.

oh here's a way to register, someone posted it on Nelsons blog and it worked for me

"ok, I figured out how to get in. go to login.live.com and make sure you check the always ask for email and password then choose signin with a different email. That will log you out of the servers. Then go to the rewards page and hit join or sign in whatever it is then choose register and sign in from there. I got a thank you for registering page that way with no time outs"

so after you log out, goto rewards page and click the link to the left

Nope, didn't work for me. Oh well thanks for the idea though.
I bet you guys are trying to sign in instead of pressing the register now button...
Thats the only option I am getting at the moment.

If there were a Register Now button I'd gladly press it. But you have to be signed in first I would assume.

Does it automatically sign you up for the Old Spice challenge if you register?

...where can I check what level I am? I should be Level 3, but you know, that whole "annual" GamerScore BS might take me down to Level 2.

here's the register button and you don't have to be signed in

http://i7.tinypic.com/343jas0.jpg

hit register, it will take you to a new screen, log in, then fill out the form

i've just registered 10 times and didn't have a problem once doing this

i'm pretty sure it works cause when i go back to the site there's a lil thing with 3 controllers underneath my name

Thank you. That worked for me. Once you're registered, are you in the contest or are there more steps? Cause even though it shows I'm logged in now, I still can't view the rest of the site without it messing up.
I signed up after about an hour. Fusions Frenzy 2 isnt in the rewards list anymore. That took like 5 minutes to run dry.
lol what a fucking joke of a promotion.

Oh, and the trick above isn't working for me in IE or Firefox.

Thanks for posting an image. I was under the impression that it was on the page www.xbox.com/rewards

Edit: Not the page that you go to once you click to sign in.
well here's what i see now when i go there

http://i15.tinypic.com/2mq6ubs.jpg

if you see there's 3 controllers under my name, i'm guessing for level 3

anyone who isn't level 3, do you have 2 or 1 controller?
As soon as it lets me know, I'll tell you. Its just not loading properly right now due to traffic I assume.
here's the register button and you don't have to be signed in
You have to click Sign In on the main and wait for the next page to load though to get to the page with the Register Now button. That's the problem.

Well looks like im in, it told me i already have signed up for the challenge

*edit* yup im in when i got to the challenge sign up page "im finished" is the only selectable option
Looks like the Live sign up thing died. Why is it that no one can make a decent web server?
You would think Microsoft would have had a decent shot at it what with them being the biggest software company in the world and all...

What the hell is that link? I'm not about to click that it's probably some sort of phishing site and they will steal my logon!

Pretty cheesy limiting the number of MS point awards and copies of Contra, that stuff should be guaranteed to anyone who completes the challenge. Not a good way to roll out the rewards program. I agree that I'm happy they are doing this, but limiting the awards that have such little value (i.e. 100 MS points) is pretty poor. Esp. considering other companies have sponsered free point giveaways (Verizon).
This is precisely why they should have launched during the day when everyone was at work rather than put it up during the most popular internet-using time of the day.
Yep...I know MS is a west coast company and all, but put this crap up at Midnight Eastern time since it's a US promotion. That would allow everyone an equal shot at the site.

So just registering is not enough...you still have to actually "JOIN THE CHALLENGE"?

This is a fucking mess.

Agreed. I think Microsoft would want to give Contra out themselves but unfortunately Im sure they have to pay Konami for each copy they give out and that adds up

Yeah, midnight would have worked to. I mean, I'm fairly certain that's why most Arcade games go up in the middle of the night cause they obviously know that its not a good idea to launch during peak internet usage time but who knows, maybe they forgot or something.

That's what I'm assuming as well but what about the 100 and 200 point codes then? Those are a cost that Microsoft could directly incur to themselves but they obviously don't think its worth it to give it out more than a few thousand.

So am i the only person that doesnt care about this anymore. Especially with the way its being run; no game restrictions. Kinda funny that I am the OP

I've been playing my 360 a lot more lately in anticipation of this and to be right at the edge of earning new achievements and I'll continue to keep up playing my 360 but now that it seems even the lower level prizes are going to be severely limited and its nearly impossible to even sign up, it doesn't even seem worth it.

Nope, you are not alone. I was looking forward to playing through some games tonight and tomorrow. This was going to be an enjoyable contest, but with such limited quantities and the impossibilities of simply registering, this whole contest wreaks... almost as bad as Old Spice.

Hiooooohhhhhhhh^^^^. Good one. Well i am glad to see i have support. Ill wait for the next one when theres actual restrictions on the games that can be used

haha, fuck you Microsoft, fucking cockteases

I finally got to the sign up page and I thought "wow, I finally got it" then I submit my information and....

There is an issue with registration at this time. Please try again later.

I agree with you except for the part about Old Spice not smelling good. I'm on a T1 and I can't finish the signup process. I bet by the time I sign up the contest will be over.

I really hope Major Nelson gets a shit-ton of emails about this. I can't wait to hear next week's podcast but then again its just gonna be the same old "we here at microsoft are sorry about the little glitch we had with the program initially."

Agreed. This contest had promise but this whole signup thing reeks. And the amount of prizes is an even bigger joke. FF2 and MS points cost nothing for MS to give out.
