Why was it my favorite? Because Ashley running the ropes reminded me of my childhood, when you'd get together with your friends and beat the snot out of each other inside the house. Ostensibly, the walls of the room you were in served as the "ropes," and I recall running at the walls, then gingerly "bouncing" off of them (without touching them), only to run back into a clothes line or something of that nature.
;)
Yeah, who hasn't "run the ropes" as a kid? If you see "Before They Were WWF Superstars," it has a segment with Edge & Christian where they go back to their old school and show where they used to wrestle. They would do the same thing: run at the wall, slow down, and then bounce off the walls. Also, they would use staircases as the top turnbuckle for aerial moves.

-- Sean Waltman, formerly known as the 1-2-3 Kid, X Pac, etc. will be meeting with WWE some time this week. The reason for the meeting however, is unknown. TNA is looking to sign Waltman, but due to his friendship with Vince McMahon and Triple H, not to mention that they have more money, it’s likely that he would sign with WWE if that's what they are interested in.

Sean is a long time friend of Triple H, and has stated on numerous occasions that he feels Triple H and Vince saved his life when they paid for him to go into rehab during his battles with addiction.

It might happen, I doubt it though.
Wouldn't it be great if Angle came out as "Kurt Cena," a la HBKurt?

For some reason, I remember Kurt and Cena having a rap off on Smackdown. But this was back when Cena was a heel, and Angle was a face.

You all thought I was going to say Reno 911!, which is having it's season finale tonight, didn't you? :)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- After having surgery, Kane is not expected to return until October. No word is available as to whether that return will coincide with RAW's debut on USA.

- The production quality for recent United Kingdom telecasts of WWE RAW has been very poor, with readers complaining about the absence of sound and late returns from commercial.

- With WWE losing Heat and Velocity, wrestlers are once again growing concerned about possible roster cuts. Since WWE is not expected to feature any new matches on its weekend recap hour, the company simply won't need wrestlers who can't contribute to the main television shows. While there is nothing to confirm this speculation, it is a concern growing in the lockerroom.

New Orleans native John Heidenreich finally spoke to his wife and kids over the weekend. They're now staying with his mother in Picayune, Mississippi, after the house they were staying at in Slidell, Louisiana, was ruined by Katrina.

His father Ronald is recovering in Harahan, Louisiana. Both of his father’s homes withstood the hurricane, although he is without power and low on essentials like food and water. Heidenreich has yet to talk to his dad, but other friends have relayed promising updates about his health and the condition of his house.

Heidenreich, who had his entire hometown leveled and most of his immediate family displaced by Hurricane Katrina last week, is heading home Wednesday to personally assess the damage.

“I’m anxious,” Heidenreich told WWE.com Tuesday. “I want to see what all of this is going to look like up close and not on television.”

Heidenreich, who lives in Meterie, Louisiana, will land at the Mobile, Alabama, airport Wednesday morning, where his wife will pick him up and drive him into New Orleans.

“I’m going to bring down as much food and water and supplies as I can for my dad and my family,” Heidenreich said. “I have to see what’s going on and check out my own house. I’m going to try and recover as much as I can.”

Heidenreich will collect as many valuables as he can, including his cat Caramella, and drive back to Louisville, where he’s temporarily staying at a hotel.

Louisville, or possibly Atlanta, could soon become the full-time home for Heidenreich and his family. With New Orleans and its surrounding areas so damaged by the hurricane, Heidenreich has a hard time envisioning a healthy future in the city.

“I’m probably going to move to one of those cities,” Heidenreich said. “I need some time to find a place, but I’m probably going to move.”

Gail Kim officially signs with TNA. Jackie Gayda is currently in talks. TNA is moving forward with a new women's division.

- TNA and Spike TV signed a 52-week contract to air "Impact" on the network.

- During the week leading up to October's Bound For Glory PPV, Dish Network will be running a special one-hour TNA Wrestling "freeview" program on its PPV channels featuring matches and packages promoting the event.

- TNA is in talks with Japanese standout Jushin Liger to work the Bound for Glory PPV.

- At this point, Team 3-D (Dudley Boyz) will likely be unavailable to TNA for the Bound for Glory show due to international commitments.

- Sonjay Dutt, Shark Boy and Simon Diamond will be traveling to India on 9/20 to begin a promotional tour for TNA in the region.

- Team Canada member Johnny Devine has been told he will be brought back in October, and was given permission to work TV matches for WWE.

- According to Dave Meltzer, Comcast OnDemand has added two new matches in the TNA section, located in the sports section. The first is an X Division 3-way from Slammiversary and the second is Samoa Joe vs. Chris Sabin.

- The Wrestling Channel in the United Kingdom will be airing TNA Sacrifice on 9/18 and Unbreakable on 10/16, so five weeks behind what is seen in the United States.

demoman may find some satisfaction in this: after going months without buying any wrestling figures, it took every last bit of my willpower to not buy some TNA figures from TRU today. I really wanted to, but I don't have room for more crap.

Giggle away, demoman, and rightfully so.

Isn't TNA's "Bound for Glory" their version of WrestleMania? If so, that might be worth a watch. I hear that it is possibly going over 3 hours. And if they get Jushin "Thunder" Liger, I absolutely have to watch it! Hopefully, they'll let him come out to "Ikari No Jushin" and not some lame TNA music. If he comes out to his proper music, I will definitely mark out. Who would he wrestle? Hopefully they put him against someone great. Liger is always awesome; what else do you expect from a legend like him? Japanese champion God knows how many times... trained by several legends, including the late, great Stu Hart... Liger's one of my all-time favorites.

OK, I need to turn my Liger fanboy mode off...

EDIT: After checking WWE.com, it also seems that John Cena will be at my local Best Buy signing copies of his CD. Do you all think it's worth the money I will spend on his CD to go meet him and get an autograph? Right now, I'm leaning towards no.

They could have Naked Mideon signing books with his wang and people would go.

But seriously...

I'd get Cena's autograph. They had the Rock come to my little mall in Martinsville years ago before he got big into movies. I REALLY wish I went and met him. It was probably the only chance I'll ever have to meet him.

I guess I'll try to go and get his autograph, and possibly a photo with him. Supposedly, he is one of the nicest people you would ever meet.

Another cool guy I met was Booker T. Got his autograph when he came to a car dealership to promote a SmackDown! taping. Shook his hand (Lord, does he have a giant hand... probably bigger than my foot!) and got a photo with him.

JAPANESE LEGEND SET FOR TNA DEBUT
by Mike Johnson @ 8:00:00 PM on 9/6/2005

PWInsider.com has confirmed with sources in Japan that Japanese legend Jushin "Thunder" Liger will be making his TNA debut at the 10/23 Bound for Glory PPV in Orlando, Florida at Universal Studios.

It would be Liger's first appearance on PPV in the United States since WCW's Starrcade '96, where he pinned Rey Misterio, Jr, although he made later appearances on WCW television. There is no word on who Liger will be facing yet although Christopher Daniels, AJ Styles, and Samoa Joe seem to be the most likely candidates.

Considered one of the greatest Junior Heavyweight wrestlers in history, Liger is a former IWGP Junior Heavyweight and WCW Light Heavyweight champion. He helped break ground for the high flying style that is associated with most Cruiserweights with a historic series of bouts with the late Brian Pillman in 1991 and 1992.

More possible wrestlers to appear on TNA on SpikeTV?

TNA is also attempting to bring in Kevin Nash, Sting, and others to be a part of their Spike TV debut. They had been in talks with Mick Foley until he took the deal they offered him and put it in front of WWE and they gave him a deal he couldn't resist. We also know TNA would like to have the likes of Chris Jericho, Bill Goldberg, possibly Scott Hall, and others be a part of the big debut as well.

Just a heads up for anyone who was considering going to Hardcore Homecoming: there's still Platinum level tickets available for all 3 shows. Platinum seats are guaranteed front row in Cleveland, and 2nd row still available for the other two shows. Not a Cheap Ass deal by any means, but damn... not many opportunities to be front row for a show that's got the names this one promises to have.

On second thought, maybe I could start a fundraiser and get $100 in time to go to the Cleveland show :)

WARNING: VELOCITY & SMACKDOWN! SPOILERS BELOW

Velocity/SmackDown spoilers from the Gwinnett Center in Atlanta , GA

Tony Chimel welcomes us to the show and tells us we’re going straight to the Velocity tapings. No dark matches tonight. Well…pre-taping dark matches that is.

VELOCITY

Brian Kendrick & Kid Kash vs. Mike Knox & Derrick Neikirk
Kendrick got a good response, as everyone seemed to remember who he was. Kash was also well received. Knox & Neikirk are from WWE’s developmental group, Deep South Wrestling, that runs in McDonough , GA. Kendrick is looking weird though. He’s really pale and wears these really skimpy pink trunks. Yikes. Kendrick attempts Sliced Bread #2 on Neikirk, Neikirk breaks it, but Kendrick rolls him up in a Rolling Prawn for the 1-2-3.
Winners: Brian Kendrick & Kid Kash

Josh Mathews & Steve Romero are introduced for Velocity commentary.

The Mexicools (Psicosis & Super Crazy) vs. Nunzio & Vito
Mexicools were insanely over. Juventud was with Psicosis & Crazy. Psicosis & Crazy used a lot of innovative team moves. While Vito and Crazy were brawling outside the ring, Nunzio set up Psicosis for a superplex. Psicosis shook him off to the mat, and hit the guillotine leg drop for the win. They were placing emphasis on the fact that Psicosis pinned the Cruiserweight Champion.
Winners: The Mexicools (Psicosis & Super Crazy)

Sylvain vs. Matt Johnson
Johnson was billed as the hometown boy from Atlanta , GA but to no avail. Total squash. After a few minutes of a beat down, Sylvain applied his finisher, which looks like a typical suplex, but he brings them down on the front of their stomach.
Winner: Sylvain

Booker T. vs. Steven Richards
Sharmell was with Booker. It’s a shame they dropped the bWo, because that was a lot more entertaining. Back and forth action, until Booker kept Steven down enough to perform a Spinaroonie. Follow it up with the axe kick, and this one’s done. After the match, Sharmell kept pointing to this huge ring on her finger.
Winner: Booker T.

Mathews & Romero leave, and Michael Cole & Tazz come out for SmackDown.

SMACKDOWN

GM Teddy Long comes up on the screen and announces that the first hour of SmackDown will be seen on WWE.Com and the second hour will be seen on UPN on Friday Night at 9 p.m. Long flubbed up and originally said “9 p.m. Central” and then quickly corrected himself. He announced that tonight, you’d see three of the biggest matches in the history of the WWE. Chris Benoit defends his U.S. Title against Orlando Jordan, Eddie Guerrero takes on Rey Mysterio in a Steel Cage Match, and Batista goes up against JBL in a Bullrope Match for the World Heavyweight Championship. “One of the biggest matches in WWE history” and “Chris Benoit vs. Orlando Jordan ” do not need to be grouped together.

WWE Tag Team Championship
Road Warrior Animal & Heidenreich vs. MNM
Mercury & Nitro are accompanied by the always-lovely Melina. You’ve got to check her out Friday night on WWE.Com. She was wearing this tiny black miniskirt. It was so short that if she walked a certain way, you could see half of her rear-end. Jillian and her monster growth was nowhere to be seen and probably not missed. MNM spent the whole match working over Heidenreich, which led to the hot tag to Animal. Heidenreich and Nitro spilled out to the outside, while Animal started slamming Mercury into turnbuckles. The second turnbuckle he rammed Mercury into had the referee Jimmy Korderas in front of it, so he went down. Melina grabbed one of the tag belts and attempted to blindside Animal. Animal grabbed the belt from her and backed her into the corner. Just as Mercury was about to attack, Animal splattered the belt across his forehead. Animal revived the ref and got the win.
Winners and STILL WWE Tag Team Champions: Road Warrior Animal & Heidenreich

After this match, attention was drawn to a luxury box, where Teddy Long, “Network Executive” Palmer Canon, Stacy Keibler, & Christy Hemme are seen watching the show.

Ken Kennedy vs. Paul London
After Chimel introduced Kennedy, Kennedy took the microphone and berated Chimel some more. “There’s two things you are really horrible at: announcing and…announcing.” Kennedy then introduced the match being one-fall with a 20-minute time limit. He then introduced himself at 243 pounds as “Mr. Kennedy…Kennedy”. London came out. This was nothing but a squash. London really is getting buried since that verbal scuffle with Vince backstage. Kennedy hit his amazing finisher off the middle rope for the win, and announced himself as the victor.
Winner: Ken Kennedy

Paul Birchill vs. Scotty 2 Hotty
I had no idea Scotty was still around. They showed a replay of Birchill debuting on Velocity two weeks ago, attacking Scotty. William Regal accompanied Birchill and did commentary. Pre-match, Birchill gave his first promo. This got the “What?” chants going for a legitimate reason: either he was talking so low or the audio volume decreased to the point where we could barely hear him. After a few minutes of back-and-forth, Scotty set up for the Bulldog which usually precedes the Worm. But Birchill threw Scotty left- shoulder first into the ring post, and did it two more times for good measure. He then hit Scotty with a beautiful shoulder breaker and followed with a Fujiwara Armbar for the tap out victory.
Winner: Paul Birchill

Josh Mathews is backstage with Randy Orton & Cowboy Bob Orton. They are holding a gift for the Undertaker, which is a giant check.

The Undertaker comes out to the ring, intro and all, and says it’s time to quit playing games. “You and your father are going to find out what death and The Undertaker have in common: we wait for no man.” Father & Son then come out. They ask people to come out with their gift for the Undertaker. The signed Undertaker DVD they put up on WWE.Com’s auction block apparently sold for $1,416 and they had a check ready for Taker’s retirement fund. Orton put his signature on the check, but told Taker he had to come get it himself. The lights and the titantron start getting screwy. Taker apparently uses his dark, magic power to summon lightning that strikes down on the check and sets it on fire. Both Ortons bolt out of there.

Chimel informs us that this is where WWE.Com’s portion of SmackDown cuts off and UPN’s portion starts.

Steel Cage Match
Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio
The match starts off interesting. Rey immediately tries to go for the 6-1-9 but right when he’s about to do it, realizes he can’t with the way the cage is. Lots of high spots in this one, such as a Russian Leg Sweep from the top rope, Rey powerbombing Eddie from the top rope, and Rey jumping from the top of the cage on Eddie, who is standing on the turnbuckle below him, and hitting a hurricanrana. The finish comes when Rey, instead of climbing out of the cage, tries to hit a cross body splash from the top of the cage, but misses. Eddie is on the steps about to touch the floor, but goes back in to hit a Frog splash and finally gets a win in WWE-land over Mysterio, 1-2-3. Certainly not the best cage match ever, but it was good for TV. Crowd was split for Rey and Eddie, with tons of “Eddie” and “Eddie Sucks” chants.
Winner: Eddie Guerrero

Ken Kennedy meets up with Sharmell backstage and introduces himself. He plays troublemaker by telling Sharmell that her husband and Chris Benoit are such good friends, but Benoit hasn’t given Booker any title shots. He then defends this with a classic line: “Friends don’t let friends drive drunk…but they sure as heck give each other title shots!” As Sharmell is about to respond, Kennedy thanks her for her time and, reminding her that the name is Ken Kennedy, leaves. He than pops right back in the shot and says Kennedy again. This guy is seriously money. I’ve honestly never seen a guy this charismatic since the breakout days of The Rock. And he’s getting over too. As one guy in my section said after this promo, “Wow, that Ken Kennedy guy is f****** awesome!”

WWE United States Championship
Chris Benoit vs. Orlando Jordan
Before the match, they replayed both matches from SummerSlam and SmackDown last week. Right when the match started, a timer came up on the TitanTron, and you knew then this match wasn’t going to last long. Benoit squashed Jordan in 22.5 seconds. Jordan threw a temper tantrum in the ring, while still selling the shoulder.
Winner and STILL United States Champion: Chris Benoit

World Heavyweight Championship Bullrope Match
Batista vs. JBL
After JBL makes his intro, he reminds us that it was this very match in which he won the WWE Championship in, and tonight would be no different. Batista comes out to the biggest pop of the night, even bigger than Undertaker’s. They did the same deal from the JBL/Guerrero Bullrope Match with the lights in the corner. JBL’s was green and Batista’s was red. This is where it gets weird. Batista had the biggest pop of the night, but this match was a huge snooze. It was easily worse than their Great American Bash and SummerSlam matches. Bullrope Matches are usually bad by default, but Jesus, this was brutal. The crowd was absolutely dead. After about 30,000 clotheslines, Batista hits the Batista-Bomb and starts dragging JBL around behind him while touching corners. JBL remembers his old tricks from the Guerrero match and touches the corners after Batista does. After the third one, JBL jukes in front of Batista and is no less than 6 inches away from the World Title. After about 10 seconds, Batista finally pulls him back, hits a spinebuster, and touches the 4th corner for the win. As J.R. would say, mercifully it’s over.
Winner and STILL World Heavyweight Champion: Batista

This is where SmackDown ends.

Local advertising was promoting a special bonus dark match, a 6-Man Tag with Batista, Rey Mysterio, & The Undertaker vs. JBL, Eddie Guerrero, & Randy Orton. It really didn’t look like this was going to happen and about half of the arena was empty……when Randy Orton’s music hit. Orton came out bedecked in his wrestling gear, sans Cowboy Bob. Orton got on the microphone and said, “I’m tired of all the smoke and the mirrors, and I’m tired of the bulls***. Get out here Undertaker, and let’s fight right NOW.” Taker comes out, Brian Hebner’s in the ring, and it’s an instant-super bonus match.

SUPER BONUS DARK MATCH
Randy Orton vs. The Undertaker
Orton and Taker easily had the match of the night, and I’m willing to say this one was better than their WM21 or SummerSlam encounters. It was just that good. No man dominated this one and it was totally competitive. Immediately after Hebner got squashed in the corner, Orton hit the RKO on Taker, but there was no referee to count. Cowboy Bob came out dragging Charles Robinson to the ring, but only got a two-count. Taker chokeslammed Orton, but the Cowboy dragged out Robinson at 2 and just decked him on the outside. Orton went for another RKO, but Taker shook him off. While he was distracted, Cowboy Bob came in the ring and nailed Taker in the face, which Taker no-sold. Taker tombstoned Cowboy Bob, chokeslammed and tombstoned Randy, and pinned both after Brian Hebner recovered.
Winner: The Undertaker

NOTES
--- People were wondering where Christian was all night. There’s an obvious demand for this guy, and why WWE has chosen to not capitalize on that and do nothing with him is one of the biggest mysteries. A lot of people were disappointed they didn’t get to see Captain Charisma. But his t-shirt was in fact on sale and it seemed to be a hot seller.
--- Arena was not full, the entire upper deck was tarped off and a lot of sections on the hard camera side were empty. The place looked sold out for RAW back in March, but didn’t look anything close to it tonight.
--- Batista got the biggest response of the night.

Monte was actually a decent football player, though.

TNA annoys me most with how they've booked Monte. Not that I think he's a super worker, or anything. But, he was very over earlier this year. Plus, he's some easy mainstream popularity that TNA could use, especially around the Super Bowl. But, no, we have to put Big Slug Kevin Nash in the main event then...

Ideally for TNA, the Impact replay would be moved an hour earlier, so WWE Raw viewers could move from USA to Spike TV and catch Impact right after Raw. Spike TV has not added TNA to its website yet.

Former UFC star Tito Ortiz is expected to return to TNA for more appearances starting in October to try to draw UFC viewers to TNA Impact. As discussed in last Friday's Bruce Mitchell Torch VIP Audio Update, TNA is also interesting in having Sting and Bret Hart appear on early Impact shows on Spike TV. Sting, though, has not been easy to reach and Bret probably wouldn't do it before his WWE DVD is released, but might be open to it a month or so after the first Spike TV airing of Impact.

The post for TNA's Bound for Glory PPV features Kevin Nash prominently. PWTorch has not been able to confirm, though, whether Nash has agreed to return to TNA. As of last word, details were being negotiated between Nash's agent Barry Bloom and TNA. With WWE aggressively going after any major names negotiating with TNA, if Nash hasn't signed yet, he could end up in WWE instead.
Thanks for the TNA news, Demoman.

I like your formatting too. Think I've seen it somewhere before...

If you want to keep us updated with the latest TNA happenings, that would be great. Just don't bite off more than you can chew. You know, my buddy Scorch tried to do the news a few times... all I'll say is... when was his last news report?

There may be alternatives... but there is only one original!
What you meant to say was:

There are many imitators but no duplicators.

All hail His Sauciness!:D
Wow, I have an official fan! Cool. And you did say it better: Often imitated, never duplicated.

I'm often imitated, never duplicated... the tower of power, too sweet to be sour... limousine ridin', jet flying, kiss stealin', wheelin' dealin' sonofagun. Diamonds are forever, and so is the legacy of the one and only Saucy Jack! WHOO!!!!
Now you're just being silly.
Yeah, I know.

But at least I'm not battle rapping about "cheapsauce."

Not fully on topic, but what the hell...

Some people said before that my girlfriend looks like Lita. I don't feel that she does in most pics, nor in person, but I took this picture last night... It's not a very good picture of her, but I can see the Lita resemblence here:

So I'm Bud Bundy, and my girlfriend is Lita. Want our autographs?
