-- Matt Hardy and Lita have been seen together socially lately, and WWE sources say that they are clearly getting along now. Since Hardy found out about Lita’s relationship with Edge in the beginning, he had been in on-again/off-again contact with her.
As previously reported, Hardy was at several points extremely close to signing with TNA. One factor that some believe helped him decide, was the opportunity to reconcile with Lita and travel with her again. Despite this year’s emotional roller coaster ride they had been on, there was a lot of good history between them that Hardy had not given up on.
Even if his WWE run does go poorly, he may still come out of it with no regrets if he can end up in a healthy relationship again.
Speaking of his WWE run going poorly, Hardy told fans at the WrestleReunion 2 convention that they shouldn’t be concerned about his first few weeks in WWE. He said he was confident that in the long run, it would work out well.
WWE SmackDown! will be taped on Sunday October 30th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The reason for this is that "Taboo Tuesday" will be on the Tuesday that the SmackDown! tapings were scheduled.
There will be a Raw/Smackdown Super Show house show on 10/21at the University Of New Mexico's Arena in Albuquerque.
The October 4th Smackdown taping has been moved from Bossier City, Louisiana to Austin, Texas.
Funaki suffered a very bad shoulder injury at the September 1st SmackDown! and will be out for some time.
Randy Orton vs. The Undertaker will be the dark match for the September 15th/16th episode of Smackdown.
From John Permaul: Hey, I just got back from the Batista autograph session in Times Square. A total of 500 tickets were made available, with all being sold out. It was held to kick off the new day Smackdown airs on. The autograph session was held on the third floor of Toys'R Us. Batista posed with fans and signed the items brought in by the fans. Fans were told to move along since the session had a huge turn out. Batista didn't have the title with him (I didn't read any spoilers), so that was the first thing I noticed. Before meeting him, the fans were given Smackdown holographic magnets as soon as they got off the elevators. Overall it was a good experience. The WWE camera crew was there, so expect footage on an upcoming Smackdown. The next autograph session at this venue will be Carlito.
In what first appeared to be a reasonable effort to protect its trademarks, reports in August revealed that WWE was banning The Dudley Boyz from using their names and gimmicks outside of the company. When the scope of the ban grew to include Spike Dudley, Internet fans went into a frenzy discussing WWE's "flexing of its corporate muscles." Fans questioned what WWE had to lose by letting wrestlers continue to perform under the names and gimmicks they made famous.
However, WWE's attempt to control former wrestlers does not appear to be over. The company recently informed both Justin Credible (Peter Polaco) and Billy Kidman (Pete Gruner) that they can no longer use their popular wrestling names on the independent circuit. WWE has also asked the webmaster of Spike Dudley's website to remove photos from his tenure with the company.
And, it doesn't stop with wrestlers. WWE's legal department has turned its attention to Hardcore Homecoming, citing infringement of trademarks and intellectual property. WWE has asked the venues hosting the events for background information on the shows; the company also contacted the distributor of the first Hardcore Homecoming DVD under the similar notion of a breach.
WWE's legal team has been on a terror as of late by going after anyone and everyone they think might infringe on their copyrights and trademarks, most especially ones concerning ECW. Here are some of the people they have threatened with letters just recently.
Mark LoMonica is forbidden from using the names "Bubba", "Buh-Buh", "Bubba Ray Dudley" or "Buh-Buh Ray Dudley" on independent shows and appearances as they caught a company using the name "Bubba" on advertising for a recent New York indie show and then they sent him and the indy promotion cease and desist letters to stop him from using that name or any name similar to his old name for that matter. Devon Hughes cannot use the name "D-Von" or "D-Von Dudley", although they can't stop him from using the name "Devon" as that's his real name. And of course, they can't use or be referred to as "The Dudleys", "The Dudleyz", "The Dudley Boys", or "Dudley Boyz" period.
WWE is also claiming rights to their catchphrases and costumes. They can't wear camouflauge or wrestle wearing glasses. WWE is also not allowing the term "get the tables" be used in advertising for them as a press release was pulled with new phrasing as WWE wouldn't allow the NY indie group to use the term, "get the tables." There is also a possibility that WWE will claim the terms "3-D" and "D-Von, Get the tables", although they can't ban them from using the manuever. WWE is claiming broad rights to everything associated with The Dudley Boyz gimmick.
Hughes and LoMonica have talked about fighting WWE legally because they left ECW with the idea that they owned the rights to their names and gimmick, but it could end up being a costly fight which is why they might not challenge WWE in court. The former Dudleyz are currently brainstorming a new gimmick for the team and they will let TNA know what the gimmick is after they trademark it themselves.
The WWE legal team has sent a letter to BigVanVader.com, saying that Leon White (Vader) has given them the right to legal use the name. They want the site owner to transfer the domain to them, despite the fact that he runs it as a fan site and has done so at a financial loss, because it's now their property.
WWE have sent a cease and desist letter to Peter Polaco, aka Justin Credible. Apparently, he can no longer use the "Justin Credible" name on wrestling shows anymore.
Johnny Ace recently informed Pete Gruner (Billy Kidman) that he not use the name "Billy Kidman" or "Kidman" on the independent scene when his 90-day no-compete clause expires next month.
The WWE legal team informed the webmaster of Spike Dudley's official website, SpikeDudley.net, that they can no longer use photos of him taken during his WWE tenure on his site. The WWE legal team says it constitutes copyright infringement and threatened him with a $150,000 damage case per photo. Some official WWE photos are still up on the site as of this post, but I'd imagine they'll be taken down sooner rather than later.
Also, the WWE legal team is currently looking at the folks who put together the "Hardcore Homecoming" shows for any potential legal hole they can nail them with. There's nothing specific yet, but WWE is claiming that the shows were infringing on WWE's trademarks and intellectual properties.
And in one last bit of legal news, I have actually been contacted myself by the WWE legal department who have told me that I must remove any images on this website dealing with WWE. You would think they'd have better things to do but apparently not.
At this point, it looks much more likely to have John Cena vs. Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania as opposed to Steve Austin vs. Hulk Hogan. It may have been worked out prior to the finish of the Shawn Michaels vs. Hulk Hogan match, that Hogan would return the favor by allowing John Cena to defeat him cleanly at WrestleMania.
Many suggest that it would take quite a bit more than a large payday for Austin to return to the ring, especially against Hogan. Austin would only participate in a match against Hogan unless it makes sense. At this it’s much too far away to predict what will happen, but it does appear from recent reports from Jim Ross that Austin will at some point return to a WWE ring, but against who is still up in the air.
Chris Masters recently commented on WWE Byte this how big of a help John Cena was to him when he first started out training in UPW. Both John Cena and Masters originally trained at the California based school.
The feud between Kurt Angle and John Cena may indeed last into the month of November as the Australian “Survivor Series” Tour already has both men listed for a match. Of course, that is always subject to change at this point.
WWE officials are hoping for a big number from RAW on it’s debut with USA Networks. This is partly because of the return of Triple H, who by all indications will return to feud with Ric Flair and appearances by Hulk Hogan and Steve Austin. As one source reports, if the rating is not above a 4.0 then WWE will be very disappointed.
Officials on the other hand also understand that many people may tune into Spike TV either because they don't know of the change in networks or that they have forgotten. Spike TV will of course, counter the timeslot with a UFC show featuring many of the contestants from "The Ultimate Fighter."
Sources report that a big reason Jericho is on an indefinite leave is because of the pressure of being on the road constantly and the toll that has taken on his personal life.
Shawn Daivari was backstage at RAW this past week and WWE continues to work on ways to repackage both Hassan and Daivari.
The Undertaker had been advertised for the September 5th house show in Albany, Georgia, but did not appear.
I'm curious to see if this backlash prevents people from wanting to sign with WWE. I'd love to see this backfire in the WWE's face, but I'm not certain how it could backfire, and I certainly don't expect it to backfire.

WWE has announced on its website that the re-premiere episode of WWE Raw on USA Network will be a special (and the 1st) 3 Hour episode of WWE Raw! The last time wrestling fans saw a 3 hour show on TV, was back when Nitro was on TNT and was 3 hours...
A “Night of Champions” is scheduled for Monday Night RAW’s special three-hour homecoming to the USA Network on Oct. 3, starting at 8 p.m. ET.
Many former WWE Champions will be making their return to RAW on Oct. 3, including Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Mick Foley and Triple H. Even Mr. McMahon himself will make an appearance.
All of this is in addition to current WWE Champion John Cena and former WWE Champions Shawn Michaels, Big Show, Kurt Angle and Ric Flair being a part of the historic, star-studded evening.
RAW flourished during its seven-year run on USA network, establishing cable rating records as WWE fans flocked to the television each and every Monday night. And it’s happening all over again, so don’t miss RAW on Oct. 3 for this televised homecoming.
