Rick Rude's wrestling topic

It's like they want Conway to quit or something, giving him this gimmick. I was pleased to see Ashley win the diva search, I must say. As she actually seems to possess some desire to be a wrestler, instead of just more eye candy.
^^^^^
I used to use Soulseek a long time ago, I may bring it back after I reformat my computer sometime in the next 2 weeks. However, that'll depend on if the university has blocked soulseek or not.

I didn't know who any of the divas were until Ashley won; is she the one who wore all the baseball caps in the beginning? If so, I'd like to break her nose.

Just because.

Let Conway quit, send him to TNA. He seems that he would fit in (apperance-wise) very well with Billy Gunn.

Conway would probably fit in best in a gay porn with Buff Bagwell. Both of them are worthless and shouldn't be a part of anything that I'm gonna watch. Hence the reason I came on CAG to post: Conway's match.

The real question about Raw tonight is... why no Matt Hardy? It's Montrefuckingal for Allah's sake. He could've got a huge pop, heaven forbid though.

RAW was made better tonight because I had great company. :)

I was marking out when they played Bret's theme and titantron, even though I knew he wouldn't show up.

I still hate HBK, and always will, but damn that was a good promo. He did awesome in making the crowd want to kill him.

My heart sank when the WWE copyright logo came up and there was no Bret, or anything else, though.

You know, realistically, he probably won't appear on TV anytime this year (or sadly, ever), but it still pumps you up to hope that he will.

Maybe WWE is pulling a Matt Hardy's music at Lita's wedding moment with Bret's music... testing the waters...

I might have to order SummerSlam.

I came home, popped on Spike, two dudes were beating the evalovinshit outta each other but no Scorch on the Dashboard?

I come in here and have to piece together the show thru all the "oh my gods" and the fact they are just teasing us with Bret's DVD release.

So nothing happened? Worth a torrent download? Si? No? Que?

Chat closed down after Raw went off.. it's worth the download, if not just for the Bret teaser by itself. Shawn's promo was awesome, almost shoot-worthy.. I think Guyver was going to put up a video of Bret's teaser..
Conway once again draws a complete silent reaction.. that's awful, especially in Montreal.
With that music, it's impossible to draw a pop.

I wish WWE would have went with his gimmick when he started... faking injuries, and being a real CON-man. Instead of Buff Bagwell, with possibly worse music.

Please put up a high-quality Bret teaser! Pretty please! :)

Anyway, if you all were wondering about Bret's condition and such... here's a video for you. This is from at least 2 or so years ago. His condition has gotten even better since then. Now, he has fully regained his abilities. He can walk, run, bicycle, lift weights, etc. now. Also, his speaking abilities have improved even more.

This video has been on Bret's front page for a while now, but I just took the time to watch it myself tonight:

Also, I'd just like to comment that HBK is an amazing heel. Too bad he's fighting an elderly man, and most of their "match" will be Baldie posing before the match for 15 minutes.

So.. apparently Bret wasn't backstage and there's no plans to bring him back. WWE Creative can't find anything for Chris Masters. Ashley won the diva search and a returning Diva was scheduled to confront her but that will be put off until Summerslam.

Trish? Ya know, Trish really was the best heel on Raw, prior to Angle's arrival, and HBK's turn.

Maybe, just maybe, for once, you could... I dunno... say pull a swerve and actually have just a little respect for the man that made wrestling.

... I do like your ideas for Conway though, but WWE creative isn't that clever these days.
Yea ill have the teaser up in a bit....

I have to go run an errand real quick...
Appreciate that, I came home a little late from bball and missed the first 5-10 minutes of raw.

It was pretty cool right now. I was going to quote you (not to make fun of you or anything), and the gibberish was fixed. :)

Seems like the Masterlock challenge will never end, then. Also, do you think the returning Diva (not that we don't know who it is already) will confront Ashley at SummerSlam, or at RAW?

I was also thinking, when creative doesn't have anything for you... that can often mean that you are about to be released. Masters is in Day of Reckoning 2, if I'm not mistaken. Has the following ever happened? :

New wrestler is put into a new videogame (for his/her first game appearance ever), and released before the game hits shelves?

Hogan didn't "make" wrestling. He was the guy chosen for the right character that revolutionized the sport.

And that doesn't mean I don't "respect" him.

If he wants to do his little publicity tour... that's fine. Go yammer to the crowd occasionally, and do your routine. It's even fine for him to randomly beat up joke heels like Hassan at big events.

But, as far as "matches" go... someone like Kurt Angle should not be selling one move for that old man, let alone being basically defeated by him. I know wrestling is fake, but it simply looks stupid for a decrepit old man to beat an amazing athlete like Kurt Angle. That's a big reason why many people look at wrestling like it's a joke.

Hogan is still somewhat believable. It is when someone like Ric Flair wrestles someone much younger that it becomes a joke. Hogan still works out and it shows where as Flair just shows why him and Scott Hall got along so well.

on another note was anyone else kind of suprised that they did nothing to edit the intro of Bret Hart. I figured they would have cut Owen out of it, but they didn't

As long as Bret's had a titantron, it's been the same, so I don't see why they would have to edit it.

Speaking of titantrons, remember when the biggest piece of video a superstar would have is a big color graphic on a "big screen" composed of about 9 or 12 TV sets above the entranceway?

I just think it would be weird to come out with video of you wrestling your dead brother behind you ( I know he didn't tonight, but I would be fairly suprised if he does not show up Sunday)

Yeah, I can see what you mean.

Although, I don't see anything wrong with having clips of Owen in old wrestling montages, such as how Owen appears in the WWE Desire video that plays before every televised event.

I sound like a damn broken record, but... I would love to see Bret Hart in a WWE ring again!

Supposedly, the word backstage is that there are no plans for him to be on TV, but that could just be bullshit being flung around to get everyone's hopes down.

Nice to see that Ashley actually won. She was the only one that actually looked like she wanted to be in the wrestling business and not there for the eye candy.

To edit Owen out would be not only a slap in the face to Bret but a slap in the face to his family.. dead or not, the guy was part of the industry.. editing him out would be just.. wrong.
Hogan is still somewhat believable.
You know this was a fu(ked up thing to say when you typed it so I'm going to ignore it.

But really,

Really.

It's like this, Friday night, at a bar:

Dude, dude, no wait, dude, really, listen to me, dude,.....

Sleepless in Seattle really wasn't that bad of a movie.

Couldn't have said it better myself. :)

I don't feel like firing up the DVR, so I'm going to wait up awhile and see if guyver uploads the teaser. Well, I'll probably be up anyways. I had another bad night.

I know, but still it has to be creepy that he comes out to a video of his dead brother. I just know for me personally it would be something that I would want removed because it would stir up too much emotion.

and to Jimmie:

I should be ashamed of myself, but when it comes to believing wrestling Ric Flair is still the only one who really irks me. I also think the fact that Hogan has been fighting the receeding hairline since he became famous helps me believe a little more.

Anyone able to grab just the bret intro part?

Im glad at the end of his rehab video, he spoke about being happy. The normal aging of wrestlers that we see is slow, in part if they keep in the spotlight and good physical condition.

Once in awhile when the "legends" return like jake the snake...its hard to match them up with our memories.

In addition to bret's silver streaks in his hair, and the wrinkles in his skin, I assume we see the effects of having exercise eliminated from a physically strong individual, so I was pretty surprised.

I still remember the last time I saw him, on another nwo return during the final wcw days.

At least he continues to be in the current gen of games and is alive, unlike some several wrestlers during his time.

Saw the video again, and it's just so amazing how much the people there love Bret. You can see their faces light up when they hear that familiar guitar squeal, and I'm not sure if I've ever heard a louder crowd...

Also, I didn't catch Owen in the titantron video at all. Did anyone spot him?

Also, it seems like Bret has a new titantron after all. I recall the one being used in WrestleMania 21 for the Xbox being different.

edited for more realism :)

I don't see where Owen's video would stir up emotions.. well, I mean, yeah, I do, but not sadness, more anger, which would lead to a better performance in the ring. It's not like he sees the video as he walks to the ring. I actually thought about that tonight though, he used to be in the Hart Foundation with Owen, Bulldog, Pillman, and Neidhart (right?).. three out of the four guys he used to hang with are dead.. I wonder how he'd hold up backstage.

I'm still trying to get over all three of their deaths.. sometimes I forget that Bulldog is gone, too.. I mean, crap, you go and look at Royal Rumble '96, and half the fuckin' guys are dead.. Gorilla Monsoon, Mr. Perfect, Owen, Bulldog.. it's insane.

EDIT: Guyver.. you rule.
edited for more realism :)
Man, I saw that and I'm like, "what the fu(k I gotta come over here and fight these cats too?" But then I saw you just changed the movie title and laughed.

Build up for XBL action next week? Feel it? Anyone?

Meh, I'll end up working and will miss the whole shit any how.
What time in the video is it?

Also, sorry to be a dream-killer, but there is absolutely no way that Bret is going to be at SummerSlam:

:(...sad that no appearance... and sad that he didnt come with the NWA promotion when it was near hither.

on another topic... I knew the Bret response was real...but at times I wonder for the crowd responses on other situations. I remember being at a show, and hearing a lot of booing + chants during one of the matches (loud enough that it was the main sound in the arena). I had taped the show, and the booing was replaced with generic crowd sounds.

Who's ordering SummerSlam and who wants to do a PPV chat? We'll need a play by play guy, maybe just the results, we'll work something out.

well i cant get ppvs anymore since i dont have digital cable. Possibly i will go to my friends house again like last month. Summerslam is looking pretty decent

I'm about to put in Royal Rumble '95 just to see Hart vs. Diesel.. man, I want that DVD set..

Bret deserves the next wrestling thread.

my same thoughts as well, anyone see the bret "desire" vid thats been around for a bit?

That was WCW's favorite trick, hell that's how they got Goldberg over.

As for Hogan, you have to suspend reality for a moment. If you watched Hogan as a kid, then you know that Hogan was just like a super-hero. Hogan would get the tar beat out of him, yet just when it seemed he was out, he'd storm back because all the Hulkamaniacs believed he would. That's the reason that everyone loved Hogan so much in the 80s and early 90s, and then for that same reason everyone hated him so much when he joined the nWo. Now all the people that cheered Hogan as a kid, as well as, all those who perhaps were too young or simply started watching wrestling during the nWo-era, get the chance to cheer him one more time.

That's why so many people love Hogan, that's why he gets the outrageous pops, and if you can't suspend reality for a minute and enjoy watching the Babe Ruth of wrestling, then why the hell are you watching "pro-wrestling" in the first place?

I'd say "Hitman, I screwed ya once, and I'll screw you again

Oh, I also laughed so hard at all the people going absolutely nuts behind Michaels.

Real shame Bret didn't appear though. I think he will someday, I'd be fairly surprised if Michaels didn't face Bret at WM next year.
