I used both as filler for one of my earlier orders. XP

The Nuku Nuku manga is only a dollar for a reason. You'll breeze through it in like five seconds and it's oddly shaped. @_@

Strongly considering buying Now and Then, Here and There since it's so cheap. How I wish they had the two missing volumes of School Rumble in stock. :/

My-Otome Vol. 4 finally shipped:whee:

Oh man $29 for Azumanga Daioh is so tempting, but I know I can get it cheaper during Deep Discount's 20% (25%?) off sale.

But by the time that rolls around you'll have already watched it. Twice.

That's true, damn your logic! I'll take a quick look at my backlog and decided from there:)

This is the first time I've been quoted it's an exciting day, I should reward myself by buying some more anime:)

Too late for me ;). Ordered:

$36.00 Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo

$11.99 Grave of the Fireflies
Date Available: Jul 7 2009

$17.99 Now and Then, Here and There
Date Available: Jul 7 2009

I still haven't got the rest of my Eureka Seven. It shipped like two weeks ago, and I moved on the day it was supposed to be delivered. I filled out a change of address form, and the delivery confirmation has been stuck at "Forwarded" since Monday. It's really starting to bother me especially since I can walk to my old apartment in about 5 minutes.

EDIT: Of course, it happens to show up today.

I opened up all my Eureka Seven stuff today. Pretty sweet stuff. Some of the shirts are huge on me, so I'll probably end up selling them. My vol. 10 special edition was missing part of the box (the inner part) and was kinda bent up, which kinda annoyed me. Other than that, I'm happy with it. (My mom is so pissed though, haha. She doesn't like anime... :( )

$36.00 * pd12964 Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo
$11.99 dgff001 Grave of the Fireflies DVD (Hyb)
$30.00 * pd12713 Gungrave DVD Box Set (Hyb) (Thinpak)

I'm contemplating adding on Fruits Basket complete collection ($30) or not... hmm....

edit: BTW, you can also get Azumanga Daioh: Complete Collection (new version) for $28.49 here: http://www.dvdpacific.com/item.asp?ID=1091310

I really *really* want an Azumanga Daioh set to own, but being that it's ADV I'm going to wait on the reviews to come in another few days and make sure it's not stripped of extras or unforgivably deficient in any other area like so many of their thinpaks and re-releases.

That's been talked about already- you want this one.
EDIT: Nvm, I found it:
ADV Films Media Coordinator, Janice Williams, confirmed at Mania.com (aka AnimeOnDVD) that the new 2009 re-release of Azumanga Daioh DVD Collection will contain the extras from the singles releases. This is significant since the original singles released in 2004 contain the sought after 5 minute Azumanga Daioh movie extra. Unfortunately, those singles releases have been long Out of Print, and the thinpak/collection releases for the series since have not included the extras... until now. This new 2009 version will be the first release since the original singles release to contain the extras.

Azumanga Daioh Complete Collection (2009 version) is available for preorder at RightStuf for $37.49 and will be available at other retailers when released on May 26, 2009.

There are a couple collections of Full Metal Panic in the sale, and i was wondering if any of them were worth getting? Iv'e been really wanting to watch the series, but never found a good price. I also found a Blu-Ray listing for the third season on blu-ray, but i'm not sure if there is/will be a blu-ray for the first two seasons, or if it's even worth waiting/getting.

http://www.rightstuf.com/cgi-bin/catalogmgr/rgFGwWEW4ML3u-JP35/browse/item/83853/4/0/0

Also, there's something i've never heard about, but it looks pretty good. Anyone know if it's good/worth getting, it's called Colorful.

After a way too long delay , the OP has been given a massive overhaul. Sorry to anyone who was worried that I gave up on the thread. If I ever go that long without updating the thread someone just give me a prod (the_punisher has already done this before :p )

Due to the new format of Right Stuf sale emails , I will no longer be listing Weekly Special highlights , since they no longer list them in the emails. I will still list anything that anyone wants to bring up though.

Question , since it was brought up about the new Azumanga Daioh Complete Collection that includes all the extras. I already have all the individual volumes from before , would anyone recommended bothering to upgrade from the single volumes to the complete collection , or just keep what I have?

Only if you'd prefer a thinpack for shelf storage.

Punisher, it's like... $54 for both seasons 1 and 2 of Full Metal Panic (24 episodes and then 12 episodes) with the pack for the ADV sale, I think. That's a good price considering what you're getting. Unless you want this stuff on Blu-Ray, in which case you might as well wait.
That's been talked about already- you want this one.
Ah thanks for that, and thanks to PrarieDOG too. Now if they would just do the same with Excel Saga I'd be set, but still wary of any ADV titles.

This is pretty much what i was thinking of doing, but i saw the Blu-Ray listed, and it made me think of getting it. It's probably not worth it though, and i was really just checking to make sure that the collection wasn't crappy considering they've shoved 36 episodes into one box.

Nice to see the OP back, i wish he stalked this thread more like I do :D.

Actually someone just PM'd me the same thing. I guess i could do it, but if he likes to do it, it's all his.

*shameless advertising*

I was extremely bored just now, and typed up two fairly-long blogs, one on what real (as in real-life) dvd's i'm watching, and another on anime i've been watching. If you've got nothing better to do ,they're sitting at the top of the Blogs page waiting for you.

Trust me it was never an issue of not reading up on the thread. I've been keeping up with recent posts , I just haven't been responding or updating.

The reason I wasn't updating the thread originally was a lack of motivation , then as of the last week or so became an issue of time , since my work schedule recently changed and made it harder for me to find the time to get to it.

If I ever completely lost motivation to continue doing this , I'll make you the first person to go to about taking it over. ;)
If I ever completely lost motivation to continue doing this , I'll make you the first person to go to about taking it over. ;)
Take your time, it's much easier for someone else to do it for me ;).

Also, my Eureka Seven and Kanon orders were FINALLY processed today. It's not that they weren't in stock, it was more of a credit card issue (first i didn't have enough money, then my old one expired), but i'm all good now. So...yay :).
If you're having money troubles, perhaps you should cut back a bit...
I will. I'm done placing orders for awhile now, i just wanted to get a couple more in .

The real problem was selling those DJ Max Fever bundles. I bought two extras, then realized they weren't worth a lot like i thought they'd be, so i tried to get rid of them. I sold one, but the other one went unpaid for on eBay, and now i have to wait a week to relist it, so i'm missing $200 which i thought i had. Luckily, TSRI lets you hold orders for two weeks :).
I was wondering... what would be better: the individual volumes of Gungrave ($28 total) or the thinpak ($30 total)? Are any extras stripped from the thinpak version. It looks pretty badass. I'd get the individual volumes for sure if it had an art box though...
No extras have been stripped from the thinpak version of Gungrave. I'd go for that one, just for the cool packaging.
Also, Now and Then Here and There, or Grave of the Fireflies?
Both. Seriously.

Yeah, the packaging is awesome and definitely worth $2 more even if there are extras stripped (i'd side with KL on it though, i'm sure he knows). Also, the artbox for the ind. volumes is fugly anyway.

Thinpak it is then.

Alright, alright. They both better be awesome then, hehe. I'm giving up Fruits Basket for those two.

EDIT: Ack, it's so much money... $96 total. I dunno guys. I know it's a good deal, but still...

If I had to choose between Now and Then, Here and There/Grave of the Fireflies and Fruits Basket, I'd go with the former two. But really, you can't go wrong with any of those. Fruits Basket is on sale far more frequently, though.
Just put the mouse over the submit button, close your eyes, click, and then turn off your computer. Nobody has to know.....
Yeah, only my parents, when a big box arrives at my house. They hate that I like anime and think it's a waste of money.
Normally I would have just had it delivered to my dorm, but I have to go home in less than two weeks anyway...

I still don't know. I don't think I would watch Grave of the Fireflies more than once... And I really don't know how much I would like NaTHaT... Fruits Basket seems cute, but again, would I watch it more than once? Will I be able to get the thinpak (not the Viridian collection) later for this good of a price? Gah, it's too hard to decide.
I still don't know. I don't think I would watch Grave of the Fireflies more than once...
I've watched it at least ten times. It's incredibly depressing, but so good, and it *needs* to be shared with people.
And I really don't know how much I would like NaTHaT...
I haven't met anybody who doesn't like it. It's one of those special shows you can show to people who aren't anime fans, and they'll still love it. Seriously, it's SO GOOD, and a part of my top ten.
Fruits Basket seems cute, but again, would I watch it more than once? Will I be able to get the thinpak (not the Viridian collection) later for this good of a price?
I've probably re-watched Fruits Basket the least out of these three. I absolutely love the first half, but after that it tends to lose its momentum. It's also one of those shows that seems to always be on sale for around $30, though you may miss out on the thinpak packaging if you don't pick it up soon. The disc content will always be the same, however - those haven't changed since it first came out in single-disc format years and years ago.
I still don't know. I don't think I would watch Grave of the Fireflies more than once...
I only watched it once.

Not because it's "so depressing", but because it was absolutely aggravating to watch. It's highly polarizing, you either really like it or really hate it.

Fine, you convinced me, Kirin. (Decided that I didn't need Fruits Basket. It's shoujo, anyway, heh). I won't be billed for half of this stuff until July, so that makes it a little better :).

Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo DVD Box Set (Hyb) (*) $36.00
Grave of the Fireflies DVD (Hyb) $11.99
Gungrave DVD Box Set (Hyb) (Thinpak) (*) $30.00
Now and Then, Here and There DVD Complete Collection (Hyb) $17.99

I ending up grabbing this:

 • Clannad DVD Collection 1
 • Clannad DVD Collection 2
 • Kino's Journey DVD 1 with Art Box
 • Princess Resurrection DVD Collection 1
 • Princess Resurrection DVD Collection 2
 • This Ugly Yet Beautiful World DVD 1 with Art Box
 • This Ugly Yet Beautiful World DVD 2
 • This Ugly Yet Beautiful World DVD 3
I was thinking about getting Azumanga, Princess Tutu, and Now and Then, Here and There, but I don't like the packaging that they come in. I saw the Princess Tutu collection at Best Buy and it comes in this DVD size case that is really thick. PC games come in these types of boxes sometimes. This means that the six DVDs are stacked on top of each other. From the picture of Azumanga I am assuming it is the same type of box. Also, Now and Then, Here and There is really cheap so I have doubts of the quality of the packaging.

The packaging of a series is important to me. I really don't like thinpaks and those stacked dvds type cases are even worse to me. I have made a mistake or two when getting a collection, but now I know better not to get a thinpak release or that stacked dvd type because I know I am going to be disappointed.

I hope they realize soon that sure using the stakpacks may be saving them some money but they are losing potential sales in the process as well.

Nice pick-ups! You gotta let me know how Clannad is, i've been debating over getting it for a long time, but i just can't see a series without dubbing for $48. Maybe at $20 a part, i might finally be convinced.

Oh man, is the new Azumanga Daioh collection really a stack pack? I was absolutely raging when I opened my FMP collection to find that (along with no extras).

I don't know for sure, but there is a lot of evidence pointing towards that. The picture posted on Right Stuf gives the impression that the new collection is a stack pack; the Princess Tutu collection has a similar picture and is a stack pack since I saw it at Best Buy. Also, Princess Tutu is licensed by ADV just like Azumanga Daioh and that Princess Tutu stack pack collection was released this year. Therefore, I think it is safe to assume that the new Azumanga Daioh collection is a stack pack.

FAIL. And you passed on Azumanga Daioh, Now and Then, Here and There, *and* Princess Tutu? QUADRUPLE FAIL. I don't think I've ever been this disappointed in all my life...
