Yeah, I've recently come to the realization that I'm just getting bored with most games. I used to love having a nice game collection, but now it doesn't seem as important. I think I'm going to start doing just that--buy only what I want to play right now. I've got a huge backlog to go through now, anyway, heh.

Yeah, all my Eureka Seven stuff came today (except for Vol. 2 which I just recently ordered). It came to my house (I'm at college right now), so my mom was surprised to get such a huge box. She thinks it's a waste of money, hehe. One thing I've come to realize is that you can't get people to understand anime; they either get it or they don't.

Only 2 episodes of My-HiME left... Wow, things changed really fast. Weird.

EDIT: Finished the series. It was a good! Glad I stuck with it and watched the whole thing. The ending kinda felt rushed to me though... like they just wanted to end it. Specifically the epilogue left me wanting to know more.
Why is Reito still asking Mai for a date?! I thought she was supposed to be together with Tate already. A lot of the relationships were just left up in the air, it felt like... maybe they just played it safe and decided it was up to "the viewer" to decide what would happen. The lesbian theme seemed kinda out of place to me, too, hehe (Why did they have to go there, really?). Not a bad ending though.
Overall, a very good, but not a blow-me-away awesome series.
Tempting... No. I have got to stop myself.
Haha, I keep telling myself this after each purchase I make, but for some reason I always find something else interesting, cheap, and/or nearing an out of print state.
I started doing that over the last two years. I get more enjoyment from anime, and now I only buy games I intend to play immediately.
See, I went through the opposite. Back in high school and my first couple years of college, I used to love anime. I still enjoy it, but I don't watch it nearly as often as I did. I have a fairly large amount of DVDs, I haven't even bothered to watch yet. I still love manga though. I've grown to love games a lot more.

Yep, same. I'm still playing RPG's, but shooters are just starting to bore me, even Killzone 2 was just ok, and i never even finished RE5.

I have a huge backlog anyway, so it's not like i can't play games- i got Devil Summoner 2 in the mail, and i'll play that this weekend.

It's just that anime is so new to me that it's still so fucking awesome. Although, i'm watching Elfen Lied right now, and it scares the shit out of me. It's not a BOO-kinda thing, it really gets into your mind. I'm 3 episodes from finishing it, but that show is really fucked up, idk if i would be better off having never watched it. It definitely makes you think, but not in a good way.

I need something cheerful, Desert Punk isn't doing it for me. School Rumble held me over for a long time, but it's time for something new and happy. Kodocha will be next, and it better make me forget about limbs falling off.

I know what you mean about feeling scared, haha. I have felt that way before... I think it was after I watched Evangelion. It really made me depressed. I didn't quite "get" it at the time (heck, I still don't get it), but something about it just got to me. There's just so much to take in at once. I think I won't try watching Elfen Lied (or anything that dark) until later this summer when I've got nothing else that I should be doing.

I gave up on Evangelion on disk three, but it doesn't seem like the show that's "dark" to me, maybe it gets that way later on. Don't watch Elfen Lied, it'll REALLY make you depressed.

That's the word i was looking for, thanks. Depressed. I might have to watch Haruhi sing again, that should fix it ;).

Yeah, Evangelion doesn't really take a dark turn until towards the end. Especially the movie, which is a different take on the last two episodes in the show. It's depressing (which is fitting, I suppose, since the creator actually suffered from severe depression at one point in his life). It starts out pretty lighthearted, actually, but man, it takes a totally new direction. I'm sure that it's not ask "dark" as some other shows, but it definitely isn't just something that you can sit and watch absentmindedly, for light entertainment; it's one of those shows that requires your full attention. Evangelion has been analyzed more than any other series out there; people have been known treat it like a famous piece of literature, almost like Shakespeare, heh (check out some of the reviews and comments on Amazon, and you'll see what I mean).

Gave up? What didn't you like about it? Don't tell me--you thought Shinji whined too much, is that it? Haha, everyone seems to complain about that. But yeah, I can understand not liking it, for other reasons too. I really liked it as a whole those, despite it making me feel depressed. It was one of the first anime series that I watched from start to finish, so maybe I'm a little biased.

Yeah, my anime backlog is massive.

I think the reason I like buying anime is because most isn't shown on TV and I like having the DVDs to watch whenever I feel like it. Used games, even rare ones, are so much easier to buy second hand than anime. I like collecting all those DVDs.

Heck, I even bought more anime this week from Gamestop. For some reason our Gamestop got more DVDs in-stock and they are doing a buy one get two free deal. I didn't get anything spectacular, but I got Ayane's High Kick, Animation Runner Kuromi and a volume of Dai-Guard for under $9.00.

The only issue I am running into is that I am running out of space to keep everything displayed like I want.

I know what you mean, i'm starting to just stack things in random places....i'm running out of room too =/
My Otome dvd 4 just shipped out. Goodie. I waited like 4 months for it.
Same, Eureka Seven is finally in-stock too.

Is Eureka Seven really good? I only saw some of it on Cartoon Network and while it wasn't bad
Renton being treated like crap kind of pissed me off.

For what it's worth, i've heard it's really good, and it is from the studio that made FMA ;).

Some suggestions, if I may? :)

Actual Bookshelves, if Space Allows
I love my Sauder CD/DVD shelves to death, but, like most entertainment shelving units, they're just not that deep or tall. A proper bookcase can give you a lot more space for your buck, and aside from some slight organizational issues therein, it's well worth the money saved. Also, if there is a nearby Ikea, use them for cheap shelves they want to get out of stock. For $40 and a little bit of finish/paint (depending upon your room) you can have a cheap solution to storage.

CD/DVD Binders
I don't like this option too much myself since, hey, cases and covers are there for a reason. However, if you ever get ~too~ desperate for space they aren't a terrible way to go. My suggestion would be to check out the Micro Center within VA, if it's close enough to you, since their 256 CD/DVD binders are usually around $10 or so.

Thinner DVD Cases
This one costs a pretty penny and takes some time. If you want to thin down the size of your collection by converting your larger DVD cases to thinner ones this is a possibility. Micro Center has the best offline deals on these, with slim cases that house 2 DVDs (essentially 4 DVDs of storage for the size of a single DVD case), and plenty of other varieties. However, in most cases, you will find yourself with your DVD covers and a paper cutter for hours on end making adjustments so they can fit.

...just some possibilities. Sorry if I went too off-topic!

This is how I keep my anime/manga each shelf cost around 20 bucks a Target.

Azumanga Daioh - any good? One of my friends loves it, but I'm not going off his word alone, heh. I'm thinking of ordering that along with Fruits Basket ($30 each).

I'll just wait for the thinpak for My-HiME to get cheaper and get that later; that box looks like it takes up a lot of space. It's nice, but... eh, just not my style.

Also, very nice collection, Blackwolf. I'm jealous...

Azumanga Daioh is great! But it is slice of life! I think you might want to "preview" an episode or two. I also love Fruits Basket! You might not be able to see it in the picture but all those blueish mangas are in fact Fruits Basket!

Okay, I'll preview a few episodes of Azumanga Daioh then. Probably will end up buying it. :p (I just watched the first 5 eps of Fruits Basket. Definitely a great show so far).

Holy crap, you must have all of the Fruits Basket manga then, haha (All that is currently out, anyway). Very nice. Now I just need to find a way to get cheap manga too, haha.

Yes I have all but that last volume (It hasnt been released yet)

Sadly (I guess) I'm about ready to buy my 1st house....So I don't think I'll be able to buy manga anymore. Also I think I will only be able to buy anime when its like on super sale (well I pretty much already do this)

Wow, I really need to look into getting some of those shelves.

Is there any chance that School Rumble 2 or 4 will come back in stock, or should I just order the 4 that are in stock and find the others elsewhere?

I'd wait, everything seems to come in-stock eventually...
Does anyone know the difference between:

http://www.amazon.com/Azumanga-Daio...ef=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1242529550&sr=8-2

and

http://www.amazon.com/Azumanga-Daio...ef=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1242529550&sr=8-1

The first one has one more disc than the second, but both have "650 minutes." Why would the re-release it like that?
The series was originally released on 6 dvds, so the first is the artbox with 6 dvds. The second is the thinpack where the extras have been removed and an extra episode squeezed onto the discs, hence one less.

The first one I listed doesn't come out until 5/26/09 though. I think it's just another thinkpak/brick. It's MSRP is only $50, anyway. It doesn't make sense...

Anyway, I'll probably go with the second one ($30 at RightStuf). I just wondered if there were any major differences or anything new/better about the 6-disc version.

EDIT: Nvm, I found it:
ADV Films Media Coordinator, Janice Williams, confirmed at Mania.com (aka AnimeOnDVD) that the new 2009 re-release of Azumanga Daioh DVD Collection will contain the extras from the singles releases. This is significant since the original singles released in 2004 contain the sought after 5 minute Azumanga Daioh movie extra. Unfortunately, those singles releases have been long Out of Print, and the thinpak/collection releases for the series since have not included the extras... until now. This new 2009 version will be the first release since the original singles release to contain the extras.

Azumanga Daioh Complete Collection (2009 version) is available for preorder at RightStuf for $37.49 and will be available at other retailers when released on May 26, 2009.

Dang, I guess I'd be better off getting that version then.

Has anybody seen 009-1? I just noticed TRSI has the volumes in the bargain bin, including the second with the artbox...thing. Any comments, opinions?

Nice collection!

Did you add in blocks of wood to make your back dvds higher or did it come like that?

Not sure, but the enitre set is on sale on Amazon somewhere.

@Blackwolf

Must be a pain in the ass when you get a new series ;).

BTW guys, Elfen Lied is amazing, it's dark, depressing, and awesome. $6 volume was a good price for it, so i'm happy with it. I tried to start Galaxy Railways next, but it's meh, so i'm starting Le Chevalier D'Eon too, and see which one i want to watch more. LCD has less cheesiness, and more action, but we'll see....

It kills me when I get a new series some times because I sort everything alphabetically....But I hate it when series can't be on the same shelf. IE my Negima! and Strewberry 100% manga.

Holy Hell that is an amazing price! I'd buy it if I didn't already own it. That show is trippy and gave me a little bit of a headache at first cause of the art style.
