Yay for Fate/Stay Night. You do realize though that that isn't all of the episodes, right? It's only the first volume.

Also, I'm mildly amused by the fact that I ordered the first version of Negima the day before the sale started, and got it for $2 cheaper than the sale price.
Its been at the current price for around 2 months now .. I'm still waiting for volume 4 that I ordered back on march 9th.. though besides that I've received everything and adore the box[comes with a little otome cellphone strap] far greater than I would one of the anime legend bricks.
Yeah I know and I have been thinking about it since. And I agree the bricks are pretty ugly(I prefer thinpaks). But I will admit I love the cover to the GitS legend box.... Anyway I'm running out of places to stuff DVD/Manga/games and figures. So it's time to start cutting corners where possible....
When it was on sale for $25 Christmas time, people said it was bad, and i decided to pick it up anyway.

I personally thought it was great. While there are a couple throwaway episodes, the fighting is awesome and gory, and opening/closing is amazing, and the show overall is very satisfying. I'm glad i bought it :).

It was on sale last time and a lot of people said it was mediocore but I bought it anyway. My GF and I really liked the show, her more than I even. It starts off a little confusing cause there's so many characters but it really picks up in the middle. The only problems are it drags at the end alot, like the last 3 episodes, there is a recap episode you can totally skip in the middle, and there is one episode where it shows them the day before the fighting started and it feels completely out of place, you might be better off skipping that one too. We saw the Shinobi movie after the anime and didn't like it cause it changed things but if you saw the movie first the anime is a lot more detailed and they use the same voice actors. I say get it, totally worth $29.

Basilisk would be worth maybe half that. It's not a good show.
Thanks for the input. Now if I do decide to get it, I'm debating whether I want to spend $50 for the Basilisk set and the Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid dvds after they restock the first dvd.

As I believe I've said before in this thread/the anime thread, it's just generic. It's an entirely forgettable experience, and I wouldn't really suggest it for that price.

Tell me which animes you like and try to find some other options from the sale that would help you reach whatever amount you're willing to spend. I'll help ya make the right choice. ;)

I'm just trying to reach the $50 for free shipping. I still don't know if I want to spend $50 right now though...

Anyway, here are my favorites, and mostly the only animes I've watched, in no particular order.

Rurouni Kenshin
Yu Yu Hakusho (sp?)
Full Metal Panic
FMP! Fumoufu
Black Cat
Trigun
Cowboy Bebop

Interesting. So, not too much. Well, grab My Hime for $21 ($3 per 7 disks) or with a t-shirt and two artboxes for $27. Then, if Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid gets its first disk in stock, you'll pay $24 for that.

So, that'd bring you to $45 or $51 depending on your order. To fill up the remaining $4 (since shipping is free at $49), I would suggest a double pack. The double pack will net you the first volume of two different series at the cost of $4. Your choices are:

Basilisk/Trinity Blood
Desert Punk/Speed Grapher
Gungrave/Heat Guy J

I'd suggest the Gungrave/Heat Guy J pack.

Now, if you're not keen on having unfinished volumes of a series, you could try one of their movies. The only halfway decent one I noticed that was on sale is eX-Driver, which apparently isn't all that bad, but it isn't that good either. It's a movie, which means it's complete, which is the main reason I'd recommend it. However, it is $6.

I figured that out. But I'm okay with that.

My-Hime at $3 a pop is a no brainer for anyone who doesn't have it. It's an incredibly well done series with some massive twists and turns around the half-way point.

My-Otome isn't as good and has more of a sci-fi plot and more fanservice. If you like those things and liked My-Hime then you will most likely like My-Otome as well though. It gets a bad rap because people like to compare it to My-Hime instead of rating it on its own.

I'd also highly suggest Witchblade but you can get the boxset cheaper elsewhere if you look on www.dvdpricesearch.com

I personally like Otome better than Hime as it didn't pull deus ex and it happened on a global scale and not just in a single school..

FYI, guys, you can get all 7 DVDs of Heat Guy J for $18. $5 for the doublepacks and $3 for the last volume. Just a heads up, since the doublepacks only got put up on Friday, and they seem to be small in number.
Tsubasa I wouldn't bother with if you aren't familiar with a chunk of Clamp series. It won't have same effect.
Yeah, I was going to get it too then I heard it was like Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, you have to see all the other stuff to really get the most enjoyment out of it.
how are these?

Pani Poni Dash!
Absurd, completely random (occasionally otaku-oriented) comedy, ala Excel Saga- only somehow more laid back, like some sort of crazy Excel/Azumanga Daioh mutant. Since I like both of those shows, I really enjoyed Pani Poni Dash!- if you don't, you might not be able to get into it (I know a lot of folks around here don't like it.) Some of my favorite theme songs, too.

Blowout seems like the usual, dump the single volumes before a cheaper boxset comes out. Only thing i'm tempted by are the cheap incomplete non widescreen DBZ season 1 dvds and a few soundtracks. Rest I either already own or am positive a brick or boxset will hit later

Sorry, but what exactly is a brick? =/

Since this post is pretty useless otherwise, i thought i'd let you all know that i'm almost done with Black Blood Brothers, and the final couple episodes are awesome :).

Also, now that i just remembered, i was wondering if there are any good racing/driving anime's. I like ex-Driver, but i wish there were....how do i say this nicely.....a GOOD anime that includes racing. The only one i can think of is Initial D, and i've never seen it because there's only two seasons in english. The others don't even have subtitles even if i wanted to watch it that way =/.

Those plastic dvd cases shaped like a brick that hold 4 or 5 dvds , while I detest that cheap packaging you can't argue with the price they normally go for. I tried really hard to watch Initial D back in the day and failed miserably , skipped to the final season and was floored by how different the animation became.

Alright i'm officially out of the loop, we're finally getting the remastered Irresponsible Captain Tylor ?!

Ah, i have one for Cowboy Bebop (which i should sell since i really despise it, people said it was great, but the episodic things just makes it boring for me, then again i've only seen 7 episodes).

People are mixed on Initial D, some like it, some hate it, but i guess it's not worth watching. Is there any others for racing/driving, or not really? =/

Also, we've talked about the remastered Irresponsible Captain Tylor, where've you been? :p

Remastered IRRESPONSIBLE CAPTAIN TYLOR

Nozomi Entertainment has plans to revisit another fan favorite from the Right Stuf catalog, with upcoming re-releases of THE IRRESPONSIBLE CAPTAIN TYLOR. The television series and OVAs (original video animation) each will be re-released as bilingual, thinpak-style box sets that utilize remastered video footage from the Japanese DVD release and feature “soft subtitles.”

As a service to fans who purchased the “Ultra Edition” versions of these releases, Right Stuf will offer a trade-in program, with details to be announced in the future.

IGPX. Definitely IGPX.

I saw all of Bebop and it wasn't the end all of anime for me either, if you don't like it dump it. As for racing stuff, not really is your answer. Unless you know, you're going to watch Speed Racer. I haven't checked this thread in ages, right stuf rarely has a price I couldn't beat by looking around the web.
Air vol. 3 finally came back into stock, took me three orders but now i have the entire series. It better be good :bomb:
Well, if you like drama with comedy here and there, you'll love Air.
Although, the follow-up to Air(DVD vol. 4) is more entertaining than the original story imo.

I also highly recommend Kanon! My favorite series ever. :bouncy:

I heard that from people, but they're missing vol. 5, and even if they had it, it'd be pricey. I'll probably end up waiting for a sale on all of the volumes, or a price drop on the box set.
I'm tempted to pick up My-Otome... but I know the moment I do I'll hear about the Legends edition. Which I could probably get for just about the same price as this deal during a Bandai sale and save some much needed space.... I'm also considering picking up some manga. But I'm tempted to wait and see what the next sale is for....
I ordered the whole series a few weeks ago and I'm still waiting on volume 4 to ship.
Anything new added? I didn't see anything, but I wanna be sure :)
Just Eureka Seven $3/volume
I ordered the whole series a few weeks ago and I'm still waiting on volume 4 to ship.
You're not alone, i know of at least three other people in the same position (myself included). *sigh*

Speaking of things taking forever, i ordered some of those Hellsing Ultimates in an amazon sale 3/27, and there's still no ship day estimate =/.
i ended up dropping about $200 on this sale... ugh. need more willpower....
Will power is for the weak... oh wait... scratch that

What would the best Geneon or Funi titles going OOP offered in this sale? I tried to do some research and think I got the best ones, but just want to be sure. Also including good Funi that are going "vridian," I don't like the new cases.

I am primarily interested in titles that are older or rendered in SD so that I don't have a Blu-ray double dip down the road (or if there is one, the difference would not be major).

already have:
Appleseed
Armitage series
Cowboy Bebop Remix
El Hazard series
Hellsing series (original)
Initial D series
All the Tenchi Muyo I want
Trigun Remix
Vampire Princess Miyu
Vandread series
X series
I ordered the whole series a few weeks ago and I'm still waiting on volume 4 to ship.
I'm still waiting for some of the stuff I ordered during the Bandai sale... Atleast I finally got Code Geass vol 3 this week. Just waiting on Lucky Star vol 6 and some manga.
Any idea of the single-disc editions of Read Or Die have the pencil boards? I hear conflicting reports that it was only for the 1st print run.
I got my copies of R.O.D the TV series today and only volume 7 came with a pencil board.

Volume 2 of Eureka Seven is currently out of stock. Based on recent trends, it should be restocked sometime this week, but if you're interested, keep an eye on it just in case the restock has a low count.

Ordered Hellsing 2 3 4 (bought 1 on eBay) Haibane Renmei 2 3 4 (then saw 1 come back in stock after my order) and ... Divergence Eve. :p I my order from the Bandai Sale: Crest and Banner of the Stars; X 1 - 8 after about three weeks of processing. They also canceled my Flag pre-order.

However, I did find a brand new Rurouni Kenshin Season Two set for $30 at Hastings.

Nice! I just got a used copy at FYE for the same price. Really need to find season one somewhere cause all I hear is good things about this series.

I've thought about the idea of opening this thread up from just being about Right Stuf , to be more of a general anime sale thread , and including anime deals from other sites , since I know that TRSI isn't the be all/end all when it comes to anime/manga sales , and ultimately most of us here are looking for the best deals first and foremost.

However , if I were to do that , I would need more assisstance from fellow cags in regards to finding deals and keeping the thread up to date. I can (mostly) handle the thread currently with it just being about TRSI , but I won't be able to keep up with ALL the potentially different anime sales that Amazon , Best Buy ect. would all be doing by myself.

Thoughts or opinions on the matter?:whistle2:k

I think staying true to RightStuf is fine as is. It's going to be a pain to sort through if this were for general anime deals among all retailers. DVDtalk already has an all encompassing thread if anyone wants one of those.

Besides, nothing really beats the TRSI Bargain Bin and their weekly specials. This has been great resource for hidden gems, older titles, and other great finds. They might not have the best deals for the newer stuff, but no one else is really going to be that much cheaper.

Agreed. I do wish the website coupons were posted on the OP though.

Completely off topic, but to anyone that bought the Fate Stay Night v1 box, I have a single v2 that I'd sell for like $3 + shipping. Opened, but mint.

On topic, I wish they had the Aquarian Age boxset. I also can't bring myself to drop $26 on the Kiddy Grade set...

I rushed into buying the Moon Phase box set because it said 10 in stock, and now they restocked it with around 180 :/ I fell right into their marketing ploy.

I've been a bit out of the anime scene, i placed Full metal alchemist vol1-4($20each) plus the movie(8$), The count of Monte Cristo($8 per volume), and beck box set($33) for $157 are these good choices or should i remove or add anything else ?

Fantastic choices, actually. I think you're good to go.

Weekly specials are pretty lame. I did notice that the three Moonlight Mile volumes + artbox is $21, which is pretty good considering the new box set retails for $50 and sells for $37.49.

Seems like they finally obtained copies of my-otome volume 4, since they charged me $5 today so good news to those who were waiting like me.

Something's definitely happening, still says On Order From Manufacturer, but it's been moved to the top of the order (it was in the middle before). Maybe they can make it within a month of me ordering (ordered 3/27, so they have a couple days).

Awesome, now if they could get the boota plushie in stock and the 4th volume of the Gantz manga I'll be ecstatic.

Hey Kirin Lemon,
I know you're big on Jubei Chan 2, but how's the original Jubei Chan? It's on sale this week for $24, so I figure that plus JC2 2, 3 and 4 should be good filler for my $6 Haibane Renmei Vol. 1 purchase :p
