New wrist cancer.

Why would anyone get a smartphone without a QWERTY pad? Less screen touching the better (smudges) and much easier to edit words with.
Why would you want one WITH a QWERTY pad? Makes the phone thicker and unless you have the fingers of a child, trying to do anything with those buttons is worse than typing on a screen any day. The only think it's useful for, IMO, is if you want to play old emulators like the NES one.

I used to prefer a QWERTY keyboard on a phone until I got a touchscreen smartphone. It's really easy to get used to, and I have fairly large hands.

And of course the library internet is down again. We REALLY need our own stable internet. I just wish the one guy I lived with wasn't so fucking stubborn.

Yeah, those days are done.

Oh noes 2mm thicker!!!

Finger size makes no sense on either screen or keyboard, both are tiny. At least a keyboard is tactile (and thus easier to remember without looking) and won't cover half the screen and won't leave oil/smudges (on screen)

Thicker, waste of space, weight, more pieces that can break, etc.
I can type pretty quickly on an iPhone without looking at my fingers, or even the screen, auto correct fixes just about any minor mistakes I happen to make.

All side and ops buttons now need to go, including home, power, volume, shutter, etc and I'll be happy.

Dunno. Just saw a thing on CNN's breaking news twitter feed that says, "Reports indicate Moammar Gadhafi dead, Libya transitional council official says."

They have a pic on CNN. Looks like him.

Just saw the vid, that's some pretty gruesome stuff right there. Been listening to this guy on the radio and cant wait to hear his reactions, been talking about Gadhafi for the past several months.

WTh. Now, after my son has had anthstesia for tooth extraction are they demanding payment in full? You've sent me bills in the past, let me just pay it in installments.
No?
fuck that then, let it go to collections. At least they'll accept monthly payments.
fuck. Somehow Trainn found out that I'm on my second YF360G account. Bastards.
Yea, how dare they stop you from exploiting offers to get $60 for next to nothing!

Haha, I'm not sure how they managed it since it was a different IP, address, name, card, etc. To be fair, they must make a pretty penny, so I didn't and don't feel bad, but oh well.

I opened a second account a while back that got closed. It wasn't a big deal. I would have been really pissed at myself if they closed my primary one.

I am super anal about smudges and use an iPhone all day. I never have a problem with smudges.

I used to think the way you're thinking until I got a touchscreen phone. Physical keyboards for smart phones are in the past.
Does anyone have opinions on Roku vs. Logitech Revue?
I have no exp. with the Revue but the new Roku 2 line impressed me, greatly.

I set one up for a friend who just dumped cable. It's fast and easy to navigate, streaming was flawless- even on a basic DSL connection.

Set-up was easy.

And. . . if you are going to move it from TV to TV it also works with standard SD RCA connections, so it's not locked to HD via HDMI.

It also has a standard Ethernet port, so you can avoid using wifi if you have problems/limitations with that.

If you get the XS add a cheap but fast MicroSD card.

Other than Angry birds there is no reason to get the XS . . . yet, as the motion remote is not used for navigating menus but I think that will change with firmware updates.

Until then, Netflix is still limited to the que via other device and watch from instant que- last I checked anyways.

I'm thinking about getting either one. I'm still not sure. I have a $15 off coupon for Amazon and some credit there. From what I've read, the Revue can do everything that the Roku can and should get better when/if it gets a honeycomb update.

The keyboard I can do without, but it would be cool to browse on the TV I guess. I doubt if I'd ever do that.

I'm still not sure if I'll get one since I have a 360 and PS3 for streaming stuff. Really, it's about Amazon's video service and getting some neat channels. Amazon has good deals on movie rentals.

I fucking hate typing on a digital keyboard. Had a physical QWERTY since the LG V way back and I've kept it on every phone I've owned since. The tactile response is something I do not want to ever lose. Probably get the Droid 3 when my contract expires in December.

There are a couple of $15 off Roku 2 codes for the site floating about and it's also free shipping if you order directly from the Roku website.

Which might preserve your Amazon credit for rentals of you go that route.

I am a big fan a logitech products, but hasn't streaming via googleTV been blocked, unblocked and blocked again . . . etc? I'm not up on it as a device specific streaming portal so I can't speak as to that conclusively but it seemed googleTV devices were in and out of limbo. Which is not really an option if your using the device in lieu of cable.

Don't get me wrong- there's a lot of potential in the Revue, I've just never used/had/tested one hands-on.

FWIW, the only surfing my friend expressed interest in doing via TV was facebook and the Roku 2 does offer that, and it's even a screen saver option.

That's very true about Amazon Prime streaming. I've had several rental deals and their free (with prime) streaming selection is getting better and better.

I've been lucky in that my new TV adds this stuff as I gain interest, so I haven't needed either.

I know that you can't go to, like, abc.com and stream. But Netflix, Hulu+ etc. all works with the Revue. For some reason I'm leaning toward the Revue. I like the Roku, especially its size. But it just seems like the Revue is a much more robust--loving that word right now--system for the same price.

It certainly is more robust, and I'd imagine you'd be more of a "power user" than my less tech savvy HS/C buddy.

If you're not in a hurry I would hold out for the ubiquitous dented box sale from them.

Meanwhile in Ohio the new school-bus tested. . .

Could talk the anthestiast group into a payment plan but not the dentist. What do I pay money for insurance anyway?

And how do we go in for two fillings only to discover that we have three abscessed teeth that need to be removed. (In a 6 year old? That drinks milk and not soda?)
Hell, I'm nearly 35 and have never had a cavity in my life.

So stressfull, frustrating and depressing.

whole milk has TONS of sugar in the form of lactose. If his teeth aren't being brushed and flossed, he can have abscessed teeth just like an adult. Hopefully they were all baby teeth. If the permanent teeth aren't coming in yet, I'd see an orthodontist about a space maintainer so that the places those removed teeth were in don't close up leading to expensive orthodontics down the road.
3rd steak on cast iron skillet: Sweet sweet success. Third time was definitely the charm.
Cast iron rocks for steaks. I did that recently myself. Made dinner for our friends, grilled up steaks on the cast iron. Sears them and keeps the juices in.

It certainly does rock. I used to use a George Foreman because it was easy, but after finally succeeding with this steak I think the grill will be relegated to pork/chicken duty.

i like making pizza on the grill. it's a perfect substitute for a NYC brick oven. Especially if it's a charcoal grill. I put a pizza stone on the grates and pizza cooks in 8-9 minutes flat.

So Pennsylvanians, you guys have any good ideas for service providers? "My" internet went down last night and my one roommate went over to the library today and according to them, it's working fine. A pain in the ass to deal with them every so often. Of course, my dad can be cheap, and the other guy's dad is stubborn and won't pay for internet, so it looks like if I want good internet, I'm going to need to fork over some dough.

Haven't gone through a phone book yet, but CenturyLink and Comcast come to mind and apparently Vonage does internet. I'd rather not deal with Verizon only because when I lived in WV for a year, it took fucking forever for them to install our internet there.

Is this because you live in Kansas (dunno if it's a location thing) or is there some other reason? Mainly ask as I know some people seem to like Comcast and others always complain about them (just to use them as an example).

Also, the cheaper the better obviously. Would like to say under $30 a month, but for good internet, dunno how feasible that really is.

Well, looking at Verizon, and this isn't making any sense. For High Speed Internet, it says "High Speed Internet isn’t available at your address" which is simple enough to understand. But for High Speed Internet Enhanced, it doesn't have that warning. I would think if the slower one is unavailable, the faster one would be as well, wouldn't it?

It depends on the area with Comcast. If you are in an area with a lot of people, then your bandwidth speeds will be slower since they are all share the bandwidth. Also, they apparently throttle your speeds.

I'm using Verizon DSL (still waiting on FIOS) and I have never had any issues with their 7Mbps service, in Philly.

See if Penn Tele Data is in your area.
