If you don't want to schlep this stuff home, Amazon is offering up free shipping.
EB/GS are charging an extra $10 shipping charge.

Release date is November 20th. It is also conceivable that this stuff could be very hard to find during the holiday season.

Pre-ordered the PS3 version with the Wireless guitar from Amazon. I wanted the achievments from the 360 version but if I get Downloadable content, my 20gb "Premium" hard drive is going to explode.
I have the 360 version one pre-ordered at my local Gamecrazy so I guess I'm cancelling that one. Saving that $ on tax makes me all tingly inside.
Guys Amazon just dropped the price of Rock Band for 360 & PS3 to $169.99 with FREE shipping!!!!!
That's going to be the price everywhere, not just Amazon.

I'm still going to hold out for a wireless guitar.
Hmmm I dunno, could be a price mistake.

And the low price guarantee DOES NOT apply to price mistakes.

Alot of people got shafted when Amazon had Rainbow 6 Vegas for $39.99 brand new. They had this pre-order price listed at $39.99 for over 1 month. When it came time to ship, they sent out emails saying the price was incorrect and to continue shipping, I had to agree to the fixed price of $59.99.

I called to inquire and they said the price guarantee does not apply to price mistakes. They would not budge.

This is not the first time Amazon has pulled this "trick" and this certainly will not be the last time either.
The Rainbow Six deal with them making you take the higher price is not true in all instances. I ordered it at $39.99 and got it for that price. Was never contacted by Amazon either.

I think I'm about to order the PS3 version. I wasn't going to. But with this lower price, It may be a necessary purchase. I don't have a 360 yet, but got 2 free GHIIs for the 360 earlier this year. I guess maybe this means I should sell off both 360 games and either put it towards Rock Band or getting GHIII for PS3 now...

Got my price adjustment as well! Off to cancel the second order with a later ship date. I hadn't realised this was Black Friday, I wonder if I should finally bite the bullet, buy Prime (used up my trial last year) and hope maybe they'll ship to be there on release... (to have it for the weekend)

I think that this game will be really hard to find in stores considering its release on black friday. This thing is already popular in the general public and will probably continue to build steam until its release. I suspect many parents will buy the thing at 5:00 AM on black friday without questioning the cost in a rush just to have the thing.

I'm pre-ordering to avoid rushing into a crowded store and walking out with a big box!

the reason for the new price is because theyre gonna release it for the ps2 as well.

We’ve been told by our corporate chiefs that, actually, the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will launch on November 23 at a cost of $169.99. That package will include the game, one guitar, a mic and a drum kit.

The surprise twist? The PS2 version of “Rock Band,” once thought to be scheduled for 2008, will actually ship this year. The full PS2 package ships December 10 for $159.99.

I know that they have the preorder price guarantee, but I went ahead and reordered for $170, canceling my $200 order just to be sure.

Everybody clamoring to cancel/redo their pre-orders...don't you know Amazon has pre-order price guarantees?
Amazon.com's price for not-yet-released items sometimes changes between the time the item is listed for sale and the time it is released and shipped. Whenever you pre-order a book, CD, video, DVD, video game, or software item, the price we charge when we ship it to you will be the lowest price offered by Amazon.com between the time you place your order and the release date. The order summary in Your Account will reflect the lowest price within 24 hours of the price change.

Please note that our Pre-Order Price Guarantee applies only to items sold by Amazon.com, and not to items (or prices) offered by other sellers on our site.

If your order enters the shipping process before the release date and the price is lowered on the release date, we will automatically refund your credit card for the difference between the price you were charged and the release-date price. If you did not use a credit card to pay for your order, please contact customer service through the Contact Us box on the right side of any Help page.

Ugh.

I wasn't going to order this. $200 seemed way too expensive.

It's not like $170 is that much less, either.

But tax-free, shipped free?

I tell myself I can always cancel.

Hmm...well now I'm a little torn. I currently have Rock Band, Drums and Microphone reserved. I planned on using the Guitar Hero III wireless guitar instead of the crap Rock Band guitar.

But now I might just reserve the bundle and get a "free" guitar, even if it is wired.

However, I must say: The Day After Thanksgiving FT-MOFOING-L!!!! I really didn't want to brave retail that day.

Uhhh...

I preordered in August, it says 199 for me when I check my order.

Do I have to cancel then preorder again? You know, just to be safe?

EDIT:
nvm, I read that 169 is the official price everywhere, so of course amazon will fix my order status eventually.
Guys, there is a wireless guitar, but you have to buy it seperatley
According to where?
The PS2 and PS3 guitars will be wireless. The 360 one will be wired. A wireless 360 guitar will be available at a later date, those MTV people tell us.
I admit I don't read the Rock Band/Harmonix forums, so maybe there is.

Add me to the list of those calling Amazon to get their $199 preorder price adjusted. You guys cancelling and reordering really shot yourselves in the foot by getting the later shipping date. When I look at my order status, it's estimated to ship on 11/20 and be delivered on 11/23. A launch delivery? Now that would be the best Black Friday ever!

Also, wired or not, the RB guitar is going to be incredible. It's a Strat for God's sake! Also, I heard from a buddy of mine who's a manager at a local GS that there have been some problems with the GHIII wireless guitars...dropout and things like that. And he got a chance to play the game, so he would know. Not trying to be a RB "homer" (I'll be getting both games). Just sayin, much like with real instruments, wireless doesn't always work so great. Food for thought.

Friend or not, you are trusting a GS employee/manager? He could very well getting a kickback for every bundle/pre-order he sells. Also, if that was a common problem don't you think we would have heard it through a mainstream outlet, not the good 'ol 'friend of a friend heard...' method?

With MS charging for wireless, there will be strict QC on them. I have zero doubts that it will work as it should.

Most of us trust our friends, duder. But yeah, him getting a kickback from on high makes WAY more sense than it being the actual truth.

When you were a kid and the elderly old crossing guard in the traffic-cone orange vest tried to help you cross the street to school, did you think she was trying to steal your lunch money so you kicked her in the babymaker then ran home to tell your mom you were assaulted?

Yeah, that makes MUCH more sense. It doesn't sound at all like some hairbrained conspiracy theory. I had already told him I had the Rock Band bundle preordered (as did he), so he had no motivation whatsoever to make shit up. Plus, it's not "friend of a friend" when he told me...and he had a direct experience with it. Actually, he even told me he really thought GHIII as a game was better, but the guitars still had some bugs to be worked out.

By no means does this mean it can't be worked out by launch, but how many wireless devices do you think you can run before you get some kind of interference? Phones, routers, keyboards, mice, controllers, hell...even microwaves can create problems. Don't shrug it off simply because you don't want to believe it. It's definitely possible.

that's BS, since the launch day is on a friday it doesn't arrive till monday even with next day shipping........ pure crap.........

I think maybe we have to wait a bit before it shows our 200 dollar orders as the new 169 price...

I'm glad I didn't cancelit like the other nubs....getting the 2nd batch and all.

Glad to see the $30 price drop since I was planning on biting anyway! This thing looks sweet I played the drums arcade game a few times and liked it plus Guitar Hero is great so woohoo lol.

I'm just gonna pay the extra $10 in tax and try to preorder it locally at EB. I guess i'll swing buy and see if they still taking them tomorrow. Normally i'd try to get this at Best Buy but no way in hell i'm going there just for this on Black Friday unless they let you order online with store pickup then it's Reward bucks FTW. :D
Do we know if this is coming out in the US on PS2 at all?
Yes, it sure is. A little cheaper ($160) and a little later (December 10).

Preordered a copy. $170 with no tax and free shipping seems a lot easier to swallow. I don't know why but I have a feeling that this is a pricing error. Why does it show 15% off the price on the page.

Still, your friend's experience doesn't mean much. There may have been a defect in the one guitar he handled, or the batch of guitars that it came from. It doesn't represent a problem across every GH 3 controller.

Also, the interference thing is malarky. These guitars are licensed and use MS' proprietary technology. If regular 360 controllers do not experience interference issues, than neither will GH 3 controllers.

Search Rock Band on EBgames.com they have it listed the same way. They are tryng to trick you into thinking you are getting a deal even though you are paying the now finalized MSRP. ;)

Does anyone know if they are going to sell instruments separately at launch? I'm sure they will but I'd like to know some prices. I honestly don't want a mic and I've got a guitar from GH2. I'm hoping the drums and game will be about 90 (hoping) but could see them being 100.

The Wireless Guitar is just a fancy dressed up 360 Controller. How often do you have drop outs with that? It's foolish to think there would be lag and drop outs considering its using the same signal that every other wireless 360 device uses.

The wired bundle is $169.99, which means you're better off buying that + a wireless guitar (Total: $239.98)

Thats just crazy stupid.

I agree with that except that 360 controllers don't have a "tilt" button. All I'm saying is considering this is the first attempt at a wireless guitar on 360, they could have run into an issue they were unaware of. Again, playing beta versions of games always leaves room for bugs and whatnot, but hopefully the guitars will work perfectly right out of the box.

Even so, I don't feel the need to run around my apartment while playing the game, so wireless isn't a big deal for me. Also, I'm not a clumsy fuck who's going to trip over the cord and faceplant into his TV. Honestly, I care more about the look and playability of the guitar. I love that Harmonix modeled the RB guitar almost exactly after a 3/4 Strat, even making the buttons "invisible". Also adding the extra set of buttons further down the neck makes this guitar very appealing to me.

Oh, speaking of toy guitars (this is a bit off topic, but it's cool), has anybody seen the little kid guitars they have in Wal-Mart now? They remind me of the GH guitar in that they're button oriented, but they're crazy because they have a button for all six strings, in EACH fret. It also has a six "strings" for you to strum. I only messed around with it for a few minutes, but the game asks you to play a chord, shows what buttons to push, and then you strum. The guitar won't sound the chord if you don't have the fingering right.

I was just blown away at what a cool way to actually teach kids how to play guitar this was! You could give them this like when they're 5, and not have to worry about them breaking a real guitar or the strings hurting their fingers. Technology continues to amaze me!

I don't mind the wire myself, though preferrably I'd take a wireless guitar.
What would be really great, though is if the cable itself was detachable from the guitar body. Makes for easier storage.

new price is way better, $170 is more reasonable than $200, also the new release date is solid at november 23, so it's good to know the final release date

If I can get the whole shebang for under $150 after tax and shipping, then I'll bite.

In the meantime, 40 songs is a bitter pill to have to swallow for that price.

A 20% sale/coupon would hit the spot, however.

yeah the new price is way better, even though its only $30 less but still nonetheless cheaper. i was gonna buy it for $200 either ways lawlz

Finally got around to preordering the 360 bundle at EB. They make you pay $25 down if anyone was considering doing the same. It's $10 more than this deal because of tax but at least you will have it to play over the long Thanksgiving weekend and no worries of fighting crowds early BF morning trying to get the set. I'll sell either the rock band or my GH2 guitar to recover some of the $ spent on the bundle.

I actually wish they kept the price at $200. Now i'm a bit wary on the quality of the controllers...........

I'd rather them use the extra money to insure that all the instruments are top notch.
