If you don't want to schlep this stuff home, Amazon is offering up free shipping.
EB/GS are charging an extra $10 shipping charge.

Release date is November 20th. It is also conceivable that this stuff could be very hard to find during the holiday season.
I actually wish they kept the price at $200. Now i'm a bit wary on the quality of the controllers...........

I'd rather them use the extra money to insure that all the instruments are top notch.
From what I saw when RB came to my campus, everything looks real. Except the drums of course.

Nothing has changed from what you have seen.

Also, anyone know what this "special edition" means?

So what UPC code does the $170 version use?

014633158700 is $60 at most sites, i cant seem to find any that say whether it is the guitar, mic, or drum version.

That doesn't make a lick of sense, I hope you realize this.
That doesn't make a lick of sense, I hope you realize this.
In his perfect world he is assuming that the extra $30 would go torwards better quality in the accessories but we all know it's just profit and we get the best middle of the road work that American dollars can buy in Taiwan. We getting the same thing at $170 or 200.
Finally got around to preordering the 360 bundle at EB. They make you pay $25 down if anyone was considering doing the same. It's $10 more than this deal because of tax but at least you will have it to play over the long Thanksgiving weekend and no worries of fighting crowds early BF morning trying to get the set. I'll sell either the rock band or my GH2 guitar to recover some of the $ spent on the bundle.
I really wanted to have this for Thanksgiving to rock out with the fam, ugh. Now I have the same dlivema as you $hady, pay a little bit more for the long weekend or get it on monday, but I have to take the day off to sign for it. Does Gamestop guarantee they will have enough if you preorder the day of?

If you gotta take a day off work to sign for the delivery then that makes up your mind right there! Mine said they still taking them and will have enough as not very many people had preordered. I wonder how many each store will be getting because these packages will be pretty darn big. You might call your local store and see how many preorders they have already and go from there. EBgames.com charges $10 shipping and it says they don't ship till 11/23 so you'd have it monday or tuesday maybe. .. Looks like these recent Amazon orders are looking at a week or 2 after launch just to save $10. ;)

Thanks, I called and the employee guaranteed day of release for $25 down. Even with tax vs shipping at amazon it may only be a couple of dollars more, but at least I can play it over the long weekend rather than wait. What's a little black friday traffic for Rock Band? Besides, it's in a strip mall and not a mall for me. Guess I'm off to cancel my amazon and preorder instore.

Gamestop has been a bit shady in terms of perorders (I heard of multiple problems with the Halo 3 preorders). However, if the 10% coupons are still available as they have been the last few months, chances are we will have a valid one for use around the time Rock Band comes out...if such is the case, it should work out great for us...10% just about covers any tax you'd have to pay and then some.

I was really looking forward to playing Rock Band with the family on Thanksgiving. Looks like that's not going to happen... oh well. There's still Christmas.
damn kinda want this again but why does the 360 version have to be wired :cold:
It does suck. Just hold out, we'll get it. It's dumb for us to pay the same price for our bundle as people with other systems.

Another concern if I go through Gamestop is will another place (i.e Best Buy, Circuit City) be offering extra shwag (t-shirt, guitar strap, etc.). And do I even want to bother going there on Black Friday? Probably not, but I did go for the GHIII stuff online. That is a good deal.

Well, Gamestop it is, and I'll take my chances if for some reason it's not there.

Also, it sucks about the wired controller, but it doesn't make sense to buy the pieces separatley. You save quite a bit with the bundle.

I think I'm going to cancel my preorder from Amazon. I'd rather buy it at BB, and get the RZ points. Plus, I should have some RZ coupons to use by then. The bundle isn't list on BB's site, but it should be pretty soon.

I'm happy about the price, but really disappointed about the release date. I want nothing to do with any retailer, let alone traffic, on Black Friday.

I might do overnight shipping from EB or Amazon.

No kidding. The 20th is my birthday, and I had plans to throw a decent-sized Rock Band party. I was also excited to watch my relatives try to jam out on Thanksgiving. Now I'll just pre-order and wait until Monday to pick it up.

So whats the benefit in purchasing the bundle for 360? It looks like buying everything seperate from Gamestop equals the same amount as buying the bundle...plus you can get the wireless guitar if you want it (or in my case leave out the microphone). I think im gonna buy the GH3 bundle w/ the wireless guitar, the Rock Band game and drum kit and be set. Unless someone can convince me that the Rock Band wireless guitar is better than the GH3 one thats the route im gonna take.

Try Deepdiscount.com They have them both for $168.95 a set.

What rock band and Guitar Hero III really need is something like this

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-89-49-en-70-165b.html

Drums, they could get something like the DTXpress.

Don't they have those guitars in the arcades? I was in an arcade that had one of those guitar game stands. I tried the guitar out and was surprised at how heavy it was. The one in the pic looks extremely heavy. What's all that extra weight for anyways? The regular models for the 360 is excellent imo. Maybe make the strum bar and buttons a little more quiet, but in all, it feels great in my hands without being needlessly complicated like the one in the pic.

it's the buttons and the pick. quality. Goes a long way, especially in crazy picking games like Guitar Freaks. That game is too damn hard, I can get pretty far in expert in guitar hero, but guitar freaks... man I can only get up to about 27/100

But the more sturdy the controller, the better simulation period.

I wasn't ready to sink $250 on guitar freaks though...........
Though I am planning on eventually sinking $260 to get a good IIDX controller
http://www.dj-dao.com/gallery.html

shipping is $110 though since it's from china =( so gonna try to get some relatives to import it over next time they come.

It did feel real study though. Didn't feel hollow inside.

Amazon probably stopped taking pre-orders because they won't know if or when they'll have enough copies to fulfill everyone's. Target probably just hasn't updated from the projected to the official pricing.

So when do you think we'll start seeing deals or special add-ins for pre-ordering this, ala GH3? Or won't we?

I'm getting the bundle for sure ASAP, just not sure if I want to pre-order at a B&M (getting there later in the day on Friday wouldn't be TOO bad) or online (with it being likely that I'll have to wait until the following Monday or Tuesday to play)...

I've got like $40 in credit at GS, and it's a standalone store, so crowds probably would be minimal on Black Friday. But of course the tax on a $170 game is more of a bite than on a $60 game.

The best "deal" I've seen yet is $168 shipped from Deep Discount.

Thoughts?

So I guess I'm late to the pre-order game then... I wanted so bad to pre-order from Amazon to avoid the tax - every $ counts :) - What I don't get is that it's not just Target that hasn't updated the pricing information.

Also... What's the deal going on with Best Buy's section on this game... I mean I thought that nothing was available outside of the special edition bundle at first, and they have no such bundle on their website, only the game with everything sold separately.
Its back for Pre-Order once again.... but this time its 199... WTF?
No, it isn't. It's still being sold by and shipped from Target.

its down to 169.99 BUT since its being sold from target, theres no free shipping and you have to pay tax... kind of ruins the deal if you ask me.

What does everyone show as their estimated ship date? Amazon has mine as Nov 27th but I know when I first placed the order they had it listed as shipping on or around the release date. Anyone else notice this or ?

mine's showing teh same thing FWIW. Like I said, they'll probably it update it in a few days. Had a feeling this would happen. Knew they would think twice about releasing it that day. Why not release it a couple days earlier and still have people buy it on BF.

they announced the new date about a week+ ago or so in a video from gametrailers.

scheduled to ship Nov 20 - ordered Aug 25

Gift Certificate/Card Amount: $115.00
-----
Grand Total: $58.98 [ with 1 day shipping ]

and i have another $10 amazon GC coming my way {=D

Mine's scheduled to ship now on Nov. 20, but if I want to get this before Thanksgiving, it'll cost more than if I picked this up at a store and paid tax. I think I'll just cancel and reserve it at GS :whistle2:(. I really want to have this during Thanksgiving.
