Unless something's changed, that's not completely true. I kept running into setlists that forced a difficulty of hard or higher. Usually in the third venue of the cities.
The most recent update lowered the difficulty requirements to beat the last venues in each city. Plus each difficulty can earn more fans now.

But it's still not possible to get all of them? What about the 1,000,000 fan achievement? I wish there was a list somewhere so I'd have something the wife and I could realistically shoot for. There were nerdy high-fives all around after unlocking "Big In Seattle"...

My band at home here has 2 of the Big In Achievements and one more that we can get on medium. The other ones need more fans to unlock the last sets.

So I believe you cna get 3 on Medium, which ones you can get depends on what city your band is from.

But some of the clubs and sets open with only 8,000 more fans so if we can get through a song or two on hard that would open up more Big In Achievements.

So if you practice a few songs so you can play them on hard you can go back to medium to get some more of the Big In Achievements.
Guys Tool doesn't even let their songs on iTunes. As much as I want it, it will never happen.
Well Harmonix is at least attempting to get some Tool songs. Honestly, I'd settle for anything Tool at this point.

My roommate had played twice when we moved in 2 weeks ago. Now he's up to medium drums and hovering between hard and expert on guitar/bass. Finally I've got a competent teammate for BWT! Now I can finally clear up BWT and maybe get him to tackle Endless setlist with me. That'd be great.

That's good to know. She can do about 10-12 Hard songs pretty easily. I guess every time we are allowed to create a setlist we will do it on Hard with the songs she knows. Next up is the Hall of Fame - the venue is unlocked - we just have to play it.

I played the night they had the update. I'm going through BWT, solo(Guitar/Vocals) on Medium. I had reached the fan cap before the update. After about two hours I had already reached the new cap. However it did unlock about two dozen more venues in the process.

I haven't gotten any "Big in.." achievements.

Has anyone been having horrible download times on DLC lately? Wanted to DL and play some new songs with the wife yesterday and we queued up a couple songs and it took forever. Like 15-20 min to DL a song. WTF?

Nope. I have FIOS though and my DL speeds are always blazing fast. I can get a 1GB demo over Live in about a minute. I DLed the Boston Pack last week just fine.

Well I don't get anywhere near that speed, but the speed is usually alot quicker than what I experienced last night. I DL'd some other things this week and they were much quicker. I guess XBL and/or my connection was just having a bad day. ;)
Our 360 has the RRoD. Hopefully this isn't just a one day kind of thing.
Since it won't be on PSN for a few weeks, and Harmonix isn't cruel, it'll probably be free for a good while.

I imagine these have been asked before, but this is a damn long topic, so eh:

1) Is there a way I can get a game save that unlocks all the songs?

2) What happens if you try to play multiplayer and someone chooses a song I haven't unlocked/downloaded?

Why don't you just use the cheat code that unlocks all songs? You can't transfer game saves in the game.

The downloaded songs will be greyed out (can't pick them) if both players do not both have the song. All the games on the disc will be available online, although you have not unlocked it in game.

That's what I'm wondering - can you transfer game saves with the 360? It's not entirely a Rock Band only question, more of a general thing. I guess the code will work for online multiplayer though. Googling around seems to make me think this isn't possible, which isn't a big deal.

That works.

1) No idea, it's not the much effort to unlock the songs.

2) Downloaded songs will be selectable only if everyone playing owns it, locked songs will be playable by everyone, as long as the band leader has them unlocked.

EDIT: Damn me and my inferior typing skills!

Normally, you can transfer game saves, but in Rock Band specifically you cannot. Not only that but the saves are tied to the gamertag as well.

Foo Fighters Pack that costs $$$ > Free Still Alive. Damn You Rock Band. What am I gonna do with only one short song?
Since it won't be on PSN for a few weeks, and Harmonix isn't cruel, it'll probably be free for a good while.
I'm hoping it will indirectly show up on the PS3 this week via the within-game "Music Store."

Pleasepleaseplease.

Save transfers are possible, but 'prohibited.' There are workarounds, but they're done by folks who want to artificially boost their cheesemints (which is why it is prohibited). To be fair, though, Rock Band is the only game I've encountered on PS3 that does not allow for save file transfers either.

I would buy the next two months worth of DLC just based on general principle if they release a piece of DLC titled "Still Alive" that winds up Rickrolling you when you actually play it in game. April Fool's, sucka.

Bah. It's like how you can't transfer every game save onto SD cards with the Wii. Total nonsense.

I mean I guess they have a valid reason to do it themselves (much like you said with the achievement boosting), but I think it's a little silly nonetheless.

No big loss.

I think the official announcement about the song being up when PSN is back ruined the hopes of that, but hey, you never know. :D

There is a way to backup your game save, if you go into options ... 'manage data' you can save another copy of your game to a memory card...or if you are already saving to a memory card you can save the new one to the HD.

Free song is cool but I would have liked more that I could pay for. One short novelty song is not enough!!!

I love the idea of free content. But I would like them still to release the one free song with two pay songs. I like having three or six tracks every week.

good lord, there's so much hate on the Rock Band forums right now from this announcement. people actually getting mad about a free song. seems ungrateful, to be sure.
They are officially forgiven for not announcing on Friday. Unless its a cruel April Fool's joke and doesn't appear on the Marketplace.
I would riot if it were an April Fool's joke. I'd riot solitarily while eating pretzels and sipping some sort of cranberry juice, but I'd riot, nevertheless.

I like the free part but dislike the substance. They couldn't have offered a pack and a free song? If they were smart they would have made a pack and given the song out for free to whoever downloaded the pack. Now there's an idea.

I just want more songs is all, loved Portal so sold on Still Alive was hoping for more songs for me to possibly toss at Harmonix (instead I'm paying nothing *sigh*)
