I dont know if anyone caught this in speedy's thread but next week best buy will advertise:
GAMERS / MUSIC LOVERS: Pre-order the new Disturbed album online at BestBuy.com / disturbed and get a code for 2 Free downloadable Rock Band tracks from the album

I for one am thrilled by this.
Out of stray curiosity, is this restricted to the 360 version like the OXM disc and the GHIII soundtrack Crap Pack?

I don't want the poor PS3-only owners to feel left out. :)

Lol...Disturb is going to top the charts simply because of this...

Not a big fan or anything, but please let the two songs be from the first cd...otherwise...

Lame.

i'm excited by the Disturbed announcement. sure, for the songs, but moreso because of the possibility that more bands will start doing the same kind of thing with their new albums. how cool would that shit be?

Its bound to improve sales so I don't see why not...
That's interesting. Although I have no interest in Disturbed, if this became a trend I'd love it. Like "buy a ticket for Muse's tour and receive a code for 3 awesome tracks". I can dream, can't I? ;)
Yeah, that would be awesome. I would never download a Disturbed song even if it was free, but if I could get songs from favorite bands' new albums, I'd punch my grandmother in the face with delight.

Of course, I doubt that they'd ever release Meshuggah, Converge, or BTBAM on Rock Band.

Thats very interesting, but I have to preorder online?!

Yeesh. I don't preorder online...

Bout time this is happening. This was the best idea from the start.

People might start buying CDs again.

*goes back to Frostwire*

Personally I hope it's an OXM-style exclusive. Not because I don't like this activity- it'll certainly boost album sales and gives listeners some fan service, so all around I'm for this idea- it's just that some songs are much better to play than to listen to (and obviously vice versa). I don't want to waste money on an album I can't stand listening to for a few strong-playing songs.

But I'm not worried, really. I think by now we all know Harmonix's definition of 'exclusive'. I expect to have the option to download the songs around September.

Hmm, wierd place to get news. But Myspace bulletin from Disturbed states this:

Date: May 2, 2008 12:37 AM Subject: GET TWO DISTURBED SONGS FOR ROCKBAND FOR FREE Body: Starting Sunday 5/4 pre-order the new album Indestructible on bestbuy. com and get a code to redeem "Inside The Fire" and "Indestructible" on June 3 for Xbox 360 RockBand for free.

it kind of does, but the album does come out on that day, maybe they just worded it wrong?
That makes it sound like the Disturbed songs are scheduled to hit XBLM on June 3rd and not exclusive to those buying the album.
Sounds like. So, it's not exclusive, it's more of a freebie. Still a great perk for their fans.
I agree, I am disappointed, but we do know Muse Hysteria is coming to RB, since its on the Euro edition, and HMX said they would come as DLC eventually (assuming the week the Euro one launches)
Hmm, you bring up an interesting issue. Overlapping DLC could be a problem for someone who owns both GHIII and Rock Band. Has this happened yet? I know there is some overlap between the two games if you include default disc tracks... but have there been any download-only songs released on both Rock Band and GHIII yet? I know "Hysteria" would be unique to RB at this point, but if RB ended up getting the same Muse pack that GH got at a later date, I'd definitely regret paying for the GH version. I mean I think it goes without saying that anyone would rather have a song on RB than GH, if the choice were available.

I know I must not be the first person to bring this up, but I just got GHIII and I plan on getting RB eventually, so it's fresh on my mind. :D

RB is a better investment if you look at what you get since you not only get Lead and Bass, you also get Vocals and Drums, so you do have to consider when you buy GH Packs. If you like GH better, then get it for what you prefer. I LOVE LVOE RB, and jsut like GH, so i am not going to get the Muse pack on GH, and hope it comes out on RB eventually

Yeah I agree. I was just wondering if there's a precedent for the same DLC being released on both games. As far as I can tell it hasn't happened yet. I wonder if there's any contractual stuff preventing this, or if it's just a coincidence?

Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Really weird song to pick though, especially considering the vocals turn into Karen faking an O near the end.

Not ashamed to say that that song still gives me a hard-on every once in a while.

The last album was severely lacking in that kinda stuff, but the last EP sorta made up for it.
C'monnnnn good stuff!
You jinxed it.

They must know I'm playing GTA4, so they're slipping all the laughable shit I would never consider buying out in the meantime.

dallow, since I like to avoid the Rock Band thread for musical discussion:

They do both really raw punk type stuff and also very polished softer pop stuff(I wouldn't really label it as pop rock even, but still.)

Like, on the album that Maps comes from it's very raw punk in the beginning and it ends with 3 songs that are a departure from that.

Maps ---> Y Control ---> Modern Romance

The last album, Show Your Bones, is a lot less "edgy" so you might like that one too.

Cheated Hearts and Turn Into sound like what you're looking for off that album.

I wouldn't like them nearly as much if they didn't have that duality to them.

What? Of all the FOB songs, why Arms Race?

Holy shit, It Hurts. Awesome.

EDIT: Do they usually censor the DLC? I know "god damn" showed up in El Scorcho, but what about the more curse of curse words?

I have no idea who angels and airwaves is but something tells me if its bundled with those other two it won't be good.

Wow, DLC from one of the most hated bands in the game. Can't imagine too many people d/ling that.

They say "bitch" in My Iron Lung. I haven't heard anything beyond those.

EDIT: also: eff Fallout Boy.
I have no idea who angels and airwaves is
Pieces of old bands glued together in a new one. Guy from Blink 182, Guy from Box Car Racer, guy from Offspring, guy from 30 seconds to mars. Among other bands.

I'll happily grab the FOB track, possibly the whole pack. I've been really hoping for arms race, actually.

I was equally upset to hear the muse pack was for GHIII. Booo. Want to sing :(

Thanks. Blink-182 and Offspring is all I need to know...I'm sure I won't like it. Happy for those who do though.

Of all of the possible Fall Out Boy songs, they go with "Arms Race". Boourns - I'd much rather see something from their older albums - "Grenade Jumper", preferably.

Pass on this week's DLC. More GTAIV!

I agree 100%. As a FOB fan, I have to say that there is maybe one actually good song from their latest album, and it was not This Ain't a Scene. Tempted to get it though, as I have the points and would like to support FOB, for maybe future songs being released. If they censor "god damned", then fuck it. I don't want it edited, when it is an already subpar song. Damn, really wish I had another 200 MS points or something, so I wouldn't have to "break" my 400 pt increments of MS pts. If this was a FOB song from any other album, I'd be all over it >_>
Aren't the Yeah Yeah Yeahs the "Maps" people? Are all of their songs that terrible?
You're quoting a criticism of No Doubt in your sig and are now hating on The Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Do you have a beef with female lead singers or something?
Yeah I agree. I was just wondering if there's a precedent for the same DLC being released on both games. As far as I can tell it hasn't happened yet. I wonder if there's any contractual stuff preventing this, or if it's just a coincidence?
Boston - Piece of Mind : Master track DLC for both games.

Foreigner - Jukebox Hero : Master track in GHIII and cover in RB.
