Rockband better make with the Metallica dlc soon, because I just saw this:

http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/16674/Activision-Confirms-Guitar-Hero-Metallica/
I did notice the lack of "now Metallica is exclusive to us" announcement that came with the Aerosmith game, but I also wouldn't be totally shocked if one was forthcoming soon.

Would be disappointing but not really enough to get me to drop another 60 bucks just for the "privilege" of playing their music.
 You leave your homo robo dreams out of this thread!
I'LL POST AS MANY AWKWARD HOMOEROBO-EROTIC DREAMS/QUOTES AS MUCH AS I WANT!

...Not many chances I get to use rather obscure Family Guy quotes especially involving the words"robot penises."
Dang, wanted to buy the whole Cars album for completion's sake but I need to save 1200 points for Doolittle in 3 weeks so I just went with Moving in Stereo and All Mixed Up for now. Very satisfied with both on drums. The whole album looks like it'll be a bitch on guitar since I'm not particularly well at keeping my stamina and accuracy up with HOs/POs though.

Speaking of Doolittle, I hope they don't up the price for it from the standard $15. It's got a lot more songs than the others(14 not counting Wave of Mutilation vs 9ish on both JP and the Cars) but most of them are pretty short, only 2 or 3 minutes. I also wonder if they'll censor Gouge Away("Some marijuana if you got some.") I hope not since that Dead song already makes reference to cocaine.
Yup. Pretty fun.
Why did Harmonix chart all the double-bass stuff in these Disturbed songs? Human feet don't move that fast. :(
One of the many requested things on the RB forums has been for a patch that allows the pedal to register a hit upon press and release. Maybe with the harder songs and if more people ask they'll eventually allow it for an option.

so is the stuff impossible? cause i was kinda looking forward to playing it.

Disturburbed songs are great on guitar as expected. Lots of weird patterns to keep you on your toes, but none too difficult. Always nice to have honest-to-goodness solos, even if Perfect Insanity's kicked my ass the first time. Inside the Fire has a really long hopo section that reminds me of Laid to Rest in GHII, which brings on the warm fuzzies.
so is the stuff impossible? cause i was kinda looking forward to playing it.
Impossible to play, not really. I never once failed or came close to failing because of all the bass stuff, I can just about keep up, but my foot gets very tired doing it for so long, so it'll sometimes lose the beat and slow down. It's not enough to make you fail, but enough to make you break combo every couple bars and only 4-star it. The songs are fun, but also tiring/somewhat frustrating on expert. Maybe I'll look into doing a double-bass mod or something, I'm always down for a new pointless project!

I'm not a big fan of Indestructible on guitar. It's too frantic for me with the switches, but Inside the Fire is really fun. Kinda similar to Number of the Beast in its patterns.

Didn't read the thread, but let me just say.

New vocals on Volcano (you'll know what I'm talking about when you hear them) are perfectly awesome in the Buffett style, so chill and cool.

stricken was one of my favorite songs from GH3, but my favorite instrument is the drums so i've been looking forward to playing some disturbed stuff on rock band. hopefully i won't get dominated too hard.
I got it for free thanks to the deal thread ;) Go to http://disturbed1.com/xbox and enter the code 1lfa89.
awesome, thanks for the code!

though too bad my rock band disc is cracked in the middle by the hole, but EA is sending me a new disc at no charge. it still plays, but disc errors at the stat screen.

You can still download the 2 songs at least, without the disc :D

haha yeah I know, was just saying since I can't really play them right now

Thanks for the code. Feel like kind of a dick getting it for free when they are already cheap, but...I don't feel like so much of a dick that I won't take advantage of it.

I feel like I got Indestructible and Perfect Insanity for free and paid 80 points for Inside the Fire, because I don't really like the former 2 but ItF is really, really fun.

Downloading Disturbed songs via the code, thanks :D For those of you Type O Negative fans from a few pages back, here is a video I took from their show in Hollywood this past Sunday

For some reason, All the Small Things is 80 points again (I thought the week for it being 1/2 price was over) so I grabbed it today as well. I'm now at 117 songs

All 8 of the McDollar songs are back to 80pts again.

Ugh, I remember that song being so overplayed in San Diego. They used to even play it at my school at lunch time.

Even with all the points I have from the Target coupon I'm still selective with songs. I'm at 107.
Goddamn, I am terrible at those Disturbed tracks.
It would help if you got a small break here and there in those songs, but no bueno.

I got my Drumsoft Micro-Cellular Urethane pads yesterday. Here's my mini-review:

Noise - They definatly soften the noise, I would say about 60%. It still makes a noise but it's not that annoying "tonk tonk" sound. It's also easier to hear the actual sound coming from the game instead of your constant banging, awsome if you play in a group.

Sensitivity - This is my biggest problem, but keep in mind I have the EL (1st gen) pads. After applying them I noticed more dropped hits than I normally have. It's not a huge difference, but enough to make it frustrating if you're looking to get high scores. I gotta practice hitting the pads with a little more power. I'm not an "Expert" drummer, so this may be a problem if precision is your thing.

Appearance - It looks slick, much nicer than that ugly gray, plus having a graphic helps.

fuck! I bought all the Disturbed tracks before I looked at this thread.

Oh well at least they are awesome.

Oh and Indestructible on expert drums during the chorus, there is no way to hit the bass drum that fast with the shitty rock band pedal.

On second thought all the Disturbed songs have bass drum parts like that.

God dammit how am I supposed to hit all those?

Bad news on equipment RMAs...according to posts on the Rock Band forum they are now enforcing the 60 day return policy. I guess it was inevitable but I really thought they would get the equipment right (particularly drums) before dropping the hammer...

http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53907
To clarify - there has always been a 60 day warranty on Rock Band, right from the very beginning. We feel confident that the new equipment we have out now that we have steadily been improving on is quite good and has a very low failure rate when played with normal use.

Will people still break stuff? Sure. Things will happen. If it happens within 60 days it will be replaced as per the warranty.

I apologize that this went into effect before I could tell everyone here. Please hold on to your receipts!
Dammit now how the fuck am I supposed to beat Run to the Hills? Piece of shit QM.

Man and I was getting all excited today because I now have every song beat but Run to the Hills. Those songs I beat include Blackened which I just beat about an hour ago.
