Rock Band series - Rock Band 4 out now
I'm guessing by opening the gutted copies and copying down the redeem code. I don't hate Gamestop, so I won't be doing this. Wouldn't do it period, even though it is inviting..
I would be surprised if GameStop employees didn't do that first. May be the cynic in me but track packs I wouldn't ever buy from GameStop, especially if gutted.
there still may be some issues there, especially since Slash is (was?) on board with Guitar Hero.
Tom Morello was also involved with GH3, but there have since been two RATM songs in Rock Band. Hopefully this means that unless they have their own game, people who appear in Guitar Hero can also have songs in Rock Band later on, especially with the rumors of Kurt Cobain and Shirley Manson being in GH5.

I Think the whole older Guns n Roses catalog is just a big mess of ownership. Since when Black Hawk Down came out, for authenticity sake they asked for "Welcome to the Jungle" to be played since that's what they were listening to on the copter, but Axl said no. Yet GH3 comes along with that and Axl starts complaining that they had no right and he didn't know it was in the game. So either some kinda weird issues or Axl is high and drunk off his ass when he signs off songs.

And bit of randomness, but no drum fill in Beatles: Rock Band. Instead when you get overdrive a lone green note will appear for the drummer to activate "Beatlemania."
Final Beatles track, my guess is Yesterday, but who knows...
-Goatman
It does seem like a glaring omission, but I figured that was just because the song is basically all guitar. In fact I remember seeing an old TV performance of the song where one of the Beatles jokingly said "great job, Ringo" afterwards or something to that effect.
Yeah, you had Haley Williams and Billy Corgan as characters in GHWT, but you still had Paramore and Smashing Pumpkins in RB2. Plus there was the drummer from Blink 182 and RB has gotten DLC from them since then. So there doesn't seem to be a direct correlation between GH characters and any sort of exclusivity.
I love rapping as Del on 'Clint Eastwood'. :B
It was quite startling the first time I played that with my created Gordon Ramsay drummer. Are there any other songs where the vocals switch over to a different character like that? Not sure if that was some weird new thing or if I just never noticed it happening before.

So we know that Third Eye Blind has 6 songs coming to Rock Band, this being confirmed by their drummer's twitter account, but does anyone else think that they may put out some of their new stuff that comes out next week with the 6 re-recordings, making it a 9 or 10 pack?

9 or 10 of Third Eye Blind sounds a bit much, but if they have a new album hitting next week I'd imagine at least 1 if not 2 of those six are new tracks.

I grabbed Chest Fever, Inside Out, I'm Shipping Up to Boston, and There's No Other Way today. I would've grabbed more, but I'm runnin' low on points.

All are insanely fun on guitar.

There's No Other Way is really awkward, but still fun.

Also, this was a while back, but I think I shit on the Alice Cooper tracks too quickly. I was mad about them being live, but when I gave them a chance, they're actually really fun. Probably ranks up there with Boston, REO/Styx, and GnR as most fun to play on guitar.

Only big complaint I have for them is just the live tracks have too much added lines of talking to the audience. Other then that, alot of fun on guitar.

I've said it once I'll say it again...

If 'Never Let You Go' is not included in the songs they are putting into RB I will fucking flip! :bomb:

This sort of hit me yesterday. The surprising (to me at least, since I wasn't expecting much) hugely positive reaction to Shadow Complex ensures that I'm going to be cutting down on Rock Band purchases for a couple of months. I can't believe I bought like 3 of those cheap 4000 points cards and I'm already down to around 5500 points. Time to get picky again I guess. Thankfully I abused the hell out of that Pepsi promotion back when it actually worked 99% of the time so I still have like two-dozen newer songs to keep the game fresh.

Looking the other day at my list of songs in the quickplay menu...goddamn. This game is pretty amazing as long as you have the cash/points to keep up with it - and I know I don't have nearly as many songs as some of you.

Yeah, I have to wait for my rebate from Shadow Complex. I'm about to hit 300; today put me up to 296.

There's still about 2000 points worth of songs I'd like to grab, too.

I'm only at 453 plus the 84 on disc Rock Band 2 songs. I've been a bit more picky about purchases. Though I have to say my favorite DLC in the past month or so oddly enough has been "Out Here All Night" by Damone.

Other tidbits:

- All You Need Is Love will be $1.99/160 MS pts
- Sgt Pepper album in November
- Rubber Soul in December

And in non-Beatle news:
Additionally, Rigopulos revealed that tracks from Queen, Nirvana, Tom Petty, Elton John, Iggy Pop, The White Stripes, Pantera, Talking Heads, Korn, The Raconteurs and more will be among the artists coming to the various offerings across the Rock Band™ platform.

A whole lot to be excited for here... and I had honestly been expecting some price gouging with the Beatles stuff, so I'm really appreciating the "standard" pricing that we're getting here. Well-played, Harmonix!

Looks like Harmonix is dead set on trying to sink Guitar Hero's exclusive tracks.

Not gonna lie, I'd love to play Tom Petty's "Runnin' Down A Dream".

Very excited for all the announced bands except for Korn, and I'm glad to see the Beatles DLC wasn't upped to 2.99 a song. Harmonix never ceases to amaze me, and I'm pretty close to canceling my GH5 preorder.

And I'm still laughing at the Microsoft press conference being Fable 3 only. I figured it would have all hte social networking facebook/twitter and stuff.

HOLY SHIT QUEEN! FINALLY!

Hopefully, Nirvana means we finally get the rest of Nevermind. I'm up for Tom Petty, Elton John, and Talking Heads depending on which tracks are picked, and getting some of the Raconteurs tracks from Broken Boy Soldiers would be fantastic.

As for Queen, I'm thinking they deserve a full greatest hits pack, like the one The Who got. I'd kill for Seven Seas of Rhye in the game, but am perfectly happy with whatever Queen they release.
Looks like Harmonix is dead set on trying to sink Guitar Hero's exclusive tracks.

This is anything but a bad thing. If I can get the songs I want as DLC instead of spending $60 (or even a fraction of that) on a new disc, I'm happy.
I'm glad to see the Beatles DLC wasn't upped to 2.99 a song.
Yeah they really faked me out on that one. Back when they announced the RBN pricing at $1-$3, I just assumed that was paving the way for a new premium price tier that they'd use for The Beatles.

And it looks like you still get a nice discount for buying a full pack! Abbey Road averages to $1.42 per song... granted, you've got a few semi-songs like Her Majesty and some of the brief cuts in the medley, but that never stopped them from charging full price for stuff like "Thank You Boys." So it's still a pleasant surprise that they're pricing this the way they are.

I need another wireless guitar. GS has them for $30, but they never work out of the box. Anyone have any experience getting other retailers to match that?

I actually had GS threaten to call the cops on me.

The story:

I bought a wireless guitar (360) -- tilt didn't work. Brought it back (less than 30 min after purchase) -- they exchanged it, no problem. New one? Same issue. I went back again at which point the manager stepped in and said no. I asked for a refund.

No.

I asked for the name and number of the DM. He game it to me. I called the DM right then and there from my cell and left a message. I again asked the manager for a refund. Still no. I picked up the framed return policy on the counter, read it aloud, pointing to the words so he could follow along. He again refused. As I left, I hit the door harder than I intended and it banged open.

The manager flew around the counter screaming and cursing at me, following me into the lot and standing behind my car, phone in hand, writing down my license plate. I got back out, and said, very calmly: "The way I see it a screaming man is running at me cursing, and illegally detaining me. I'll ask you to move before I call the police." He refused and got in my face. I called 911 on speakerphone and explained the situation. The manager returned to the store, I left, thanked the 911 operator for the assistance and waited behind the store in my vehicle for the cops to come take the report. No damage was done to the store or my property, and it ended there, but Gamestop/EB lost a customer for life.

Harmonix, upon hearing the story overnighted me a new guitar.

GS currently has a wireless 360 guitar, new for $30. I need it to replace a badly aging guitar, everywhere else wants $60. What's been your experience with price-matching?

Lol, I can picture this story playing out in my head.

And wow, Harmonix really did that bold part up there?

Target's got the GHWT dual guitar bundles on clearance for $44 something (YMMV) if you can find them. That'll get you two wireless Les Paul guitars and the GHWT game, which you are free to do with what you will.

I like the medley idea for Abbey Road, and $17 is not bad for one of my favorite albums ever. I can't wait for this game to come out.

I'm happy to see a new list of upcoming DLC, even if it's not as specific as the last one, when they revealed six full albums. I know it's been said a bunch of other times, but this damn well better complete Nevermind.

That song is pretty bad ass; been one of my favorites lately too.

Daaaaaaaaaaymn.

I'm not exactly flipping my shit over The White Stripes/Raconteurs or Talking Heads, but everything else there is pretty exciting. As far as the Nirvana stuff, SLTS being on GH5 makes me think Harmonix will finally be finishing Nevermind, and hopefully we'll get Bleach as well since Sub Pop is doing the RBN thing.

PANTERA!!!!! My god, its about time. Think we'll get fucking Hostile? :p

I really hope they release the In Utero album as DLC, I prefer that to Nevermind.

Thanks for the responses!

Wow, I missed that part about Sub Pop being in RBN - I'm excited about the idea of CSS DLC actually existing (pardon the TLAs).
With Nirvana listed on announcement, I hope that we finally see Smells Like Teen Spirit *fingers crossed*
I think that that will come out. Harmonix's DLC choices recently have been usurping GH5's setlist by the week.
Will you be able to rip songs from the Beatles Rock Band to play on Rock Band 2?
Nope, unfortunately (I suspect that's a big reason why they weren't even including "Rock Band" in the title at first).

I suspect Lego RB will be exportable though. My guess is they'll handle that one similar to the 20 free songs in RB2. A one-time-use code that becomes active some time after the game's release. The delay will piss people off, but in a way that's more fair to the developers... I'm sure they'd prefer that people actually play the game for a while instead of just buying it, exporting the tracks, and trading it in on release day.

At first I was pissed about this but now I think I'm beginning to understand it all. If a game is band specific then Rock Band/Guitar Hero wants that content to stay with that game, but it seems like RB/GH are both looking to keep their mixed content compatible with the following versions.

When you think about it, it makes sense.

When you think about it, it makes sense.
True. And with a license as elusive as The Beatles, I'm sure there were a whole bunch of extra caveats involved. I imagine that one of the main conditions for allowing their music into the game in the first place was that they wanted it to be tied to the whole artistic experience that Harmonix was creating. Kinda like how some musicians hate the idea of singles and prefer to have their material heard in the context of a whole album.

From the perspective of an artist who is very protective of their work, I could understand why they would want it this way. I still wish an export was allowed, but I'd rather have isolated Beatles than no Beatles at all.

All this kinda makes me wonder if any artists would agree to be "exclusive" to Guitar Hero at this point. Shouldn't Van Halen (or their label or whoever) be kinda pissed that their game is literally being given away for free? It's great for a CAG but it seems like a kick in the balls from the artist's point of view, especially after seeing all the TLC that's gone into TB:RB.

great news on the new tracks for rockband. I wish the beatles tracks worked with the game, but the way the music games are getting price drops these days, I'm sure I will be able to find the Beatles version cheap down the line.

It still kinda blows my mind that the game is still getting support, I love checking what new songs are going to come out that week and it looks like I'll be doing that for some time.

Figured I'd ask here before making a thread in the request section:

Anyone know where to get the Rock Band bass guitar for the best price? I'd like to pick one up, but I don't want to dish out $70 when I can get an Xplorer for ~$10

Amazon? With the trade deal you could get one for dirt cheap.
Amazon? With the trade deal you could get one for dirt cheap.
Get one for "free", seeing as how you have to trade in $50 worth, and you get a $30 off coupon. I think I'd pre-order CoD6 if I was going to do that Amazon dealy though. Amazon does have it for $59.99 though which is more reasonable.

Anyone else know of any deals?

Totally psyched for the Billy Idol tracks and I'll probably get Tom Petty too... damn these have been some good DLC weeks lately!

Interesting to see that we're already getting stuff from the list of bands mentioned at that conference... I assumed it would be a longer wait!

I will be getting the Billy Idol and Tom Petty tracks for sure, will have to listen to the others. Will definitely get the Fleetwood songs after a quick listen. I like jet but I'll pass on "She's a genius". It sounds like a new age my sharona (or at least the guitar sounds the same).

With GH5 trying to steal RB Beatles thunder by releasing a week earlier its not surprising that Harmonix would include some DLC from GH5 artists the week before GH5 launches. Interested to see what they release the following week to coincide with the GH5 9/1 launch

Edit - Also it looks like they are not going to be updating the Rock Band Content website any longer. Kinda sucks becuase it was a nice resource to get info and videos in one place.

Link

Can anyone recommend a similar site they use?

The DLC announcement and now actually seeing it starting to appear this tuesday, has basically turned me away from buying GH5 (Queen/Tom Petty/Free Van Halen were my incentives, but now I don't see the point).

If Harmonix gets Rammstein and Sublime up, there will be 0 reason for me to get GH5 besides playing the free version of The Touch that has been sitting on my HDD unplayed, which makes me sad.
