Rock Band series - Rock Band 4 out now

Didn't see anything posted on this yet... sounds like it could have pretty massive potential!

Attention Bands, Studios, and Labels:
Create. Play. Get Paid.
The Rock Band Network is Coming.

Use our tools to author playable tracks. Upload and submit your tracks for review by the Rock Band Creators community. Approved tracks become available in the Rock Band Store and on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace*, and you get a cut of every purchase.

The Rock Band Network is a revolutionary system that will allow bands, studios and record labels to create and sell playable game content from their master recordings using the same professional tools used by our developers. Check out this overview video for more on how it will work.
I didn't read all the details yet but apparently there will be an XNA-style subscription service where preliminary tracks are developed and shared before they go up onto the normal marketplace.

I updated the OP with info. Here's more on the Rock Band Network thing, via Kotaku:

MTV Games and Harmonix are opening up the Rock Band music store to everyone later this year. The Rock Band Network allows any artist to upload and price their own tracks for users to download from the game's music store.

According to a report from Billboard, that service will launch sometime this year for the Xbox 360 versions of Rock Band, with plans to bring those "popular tracks" to the PlayStation 3 and Wii versions "eventually." Artists can submit their songs to a group of "Harmonix-trained freelance game developers" who will prep the tracks for use in game.

Artists can price their songs between 50 cents and $3, netting 30% of track sales. Rock Band owners will be able to preview Rock Band Network songs before they purchase.

MTV Games senior VP Paul DeGooyer says the Rock Band Network features a "set of serious professional tools to allow people on the front line of writing and recording songs to completely control their destiny with respect to interactive products and then giving them direct access to the download store."

Those tools are expected to enter a public beta program in August. A preview web site for creators has just been launched.

There's a good reason the Rock Band Network will be initially available only to Xbox 360 users. Harmonix and MTV Games are relying on Microsoft's Creators Club and the company's XNA development platform to handle the development of artist uploaded track to something that's playable in Rock Band.

The new artist network is Harmonix's answer to Activision's "GH Tunes," the music creation and marketplace tools that launched with Guitar Hero World Tour. Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos said that his company would take a "radically different approach" to user song uploads.

Wow they added Savior, favorite song off the last Rise Against record. Also Rock Band Network sounds like it has a lot of potential.

Definitely will pick up Rancid! Even better if these make it out to the Pepsi Rock Band promotion list. I've been holding onto a bunch of free song redemptions and would definitely use them on this.

Have they been adding songs to the list? It seems like I noticed a couple Iron Maiden songs on there that weren't there before.

Kings of Leon? That's one band Guitar Hero 5 can take off their "Bands that have never been in a rhythm game!" Advertisement list.

Excited to see a lot of cool stuff coming out of the RBN. I'm worried the prices will be out of whack for it, though. It says $0.50 to $3, but I don't think I'll be willing to pay more than $1 for a track that wasn't professionally made by Harmonix, and is from some dude's garage band. I hope big label music gets released at the $1 price point that I'm hoping for, otherwise, I'll just stick with the $2 DLC.

This is simply amazing news. I've actually made threads on the Rock Band forums wishing for/predicting this exact thing in the past. Artists being able to create/upload their own songs is beyond amazing. This will expand the musical library of Rock Band by a ridiculous amount as long as it isn't extremely difficult to do.

This is what is going to take Rock Band to the next level and keep it moving into the future.

I'm pretty confident we'll see plenty of lesser known bands willing to release their music, less worried about the money, more focused on the exposure and putting up their songs for $.50 - $1.00

In for Rise Against and Rancid

As for RBN, I hope this doesn't mean the end of regular releases from Harmonix. I also hope that it is in a different section of the music store so I can still find the music from recording artists I like.

Not a shot in hell. All this means is the amount of content that is available will likely completely explode by Christmas.

Doubt any major labels are going to jump on this, but I could see some fairly popular indie outfits contributing a significant amount of content.

Yes. The Green Day songs (at least for the 360) were on the Pepsi site they day they were released.

I'm willing to bet that Kings of Leon will be the same.

I'm pretty sure Harmonix did this just to spite Activision.

Not just lesser known bands - there are a lot of major or semi-major artists that are handling their own releases now, away from the labels.

He's already in the game twice, but I'm hoping this means we get more Jonathan Coulton songs. :D

Now I'm curious if they'll release more then half those artist on that list just to downplay GH5.

Eitherway, curious to see what independent labels or artists jump on the RB Network (K.M.F.D.M. plz). That or if they have any already lined up when this launches.

If this means we get Tom Petty or Johnny Cash in Rock Band, I'm all for it. :)

I was browsing through my old posts on the RB forums and found this one, back when GH:WT announced their music creator and Harmonix made a very cryptice rumor about an "indie initiative"

Well this new initiative sounds awesome for smaller bands and I hope they take advantage of this opportunity.

No songs this week for me.

Nice job. This squeaks ahead of my "Spinal Tap told me they've have songs in Rock Band"/Spinal Tap songs announced two weeks later incident for the CAG Rock Band Thread "I Called It!" Award.

"Only by the Night" should be a full album on RB... I'll pick up the KoL tracks anyway, but that is the best rock album it come out in at least 5 years...

quick question.
I've got some MS points finally. I've been quite tempted by the Stevie Ray Vaughn Texas Flood Album.
Any input? I've watched some expert videos on Youtube, and I don't think I'd be able to play them. Can anybody verify that Hard mode would at least be tolerable? Those are some awesome songs, by an amazing artist.

Anyone wants to trade me a 360 code for "A Favor House Atlantic" for anything on the Pepsi Rock Band promotion site? I got three tokens for DLC that I haven't redeemed yet and that particular song isn't available...

Hards tolerable for someone in your situation I would think, although I can beat those songs on expert so I dunno if my judgement would vary from yours.

i posted this a few pages back but my drums are dead. for some reason they won't turn on anymore [ RB2 set. SL i think. for the 360 ] and aren't damaged in anyway.

i was wondering if someone could send me a scan of their receipt that's still under warrenty [ 60 days ]? i don't have much to offer but some xbox live trials and a code for bankshot billards 2.

i'm hoping to get this set replaced so i could sell it because i'm in the process of getting the ion drum rocker set.
Anyone having issues with the in game music store? I can't access it.
When I was looking through it a few days ago there were quite a few songs missing... I think it's been generally wonky for the past month or so actually, for whatever reason. The "missing" songs can still be purchased through the dashboard marketplace though.

I Think this thread is basically every Rock Band game for the consoles if the first post is any indication. Though the more trailers I watch for Beatles: Rock Band the more entranced I am by it. The amount of effort and respect put into everything makes me look forward to it more and more.

Not a big Beatles fan but that looks like they put some strong effort into it. So far the Metallica game has been the best of the milk-it standalone games as far as presentation but this looks like it will surpass it.

I haven't been more excited for a game than I am for RB:Beatles sinceMetal Gear Solid 2, haha.

I want it, now. And I'm glad to see Paperback Writer, that's my favorite earlier Beatles song!
*VIDEO*
I don't know if there's a separate thread for The Beatles: Rock Band, since it's a separate game for DLC and all that, but here's the new trailer that shows up some new songs.
Wow, the stuff going on in the background during "Revolution" is crazy, with all the specific lyrics and everything! Is each "dreamscape" gonna be tied to an individual song? So far every one I've seen looks pretty specific to the song, which is nuts!!!

Also I was wondering if anything was ever said about the Rock Band Stage Kit? I have one and I reeeeeally hope it works with The Beatles game... there is opportunity for all sorts of intense psychedelia there.

Stupid question, but did you change the batteries?
we can work it out better be in RB:TB
rb: beatles will have its own DLC, so i wouldnt worry about it, they can milk this franchise for years, and they probably will.

Got all three packs today (debating on the Lush track) and they are great on drums. The songs are a blast to play and provide a pretty good listen. Overall, I would go with the rancid pack being the best this week with rise against in 2nd and kings of leon in third.
Going to pick up the country track pack w/ store credit on the way to work. Anyone else picking it up?
Yep, ordered it on buy.com yesterday. 28.xx shipped.
