Rock Band series - Rock Band 4 out now
Might have to spring for the whole damn pack!

Busta, you always make my Friday mornings complete with dlc updates!
Glad to be of service! :D
I'll have to listen to the new stuff but I'll most likely just get the whole pack. Man do I ever need some points... I feel like a hypocrite giving out these updates but not actually having the points to buy DLC lately :p

I need points, too. I had the 4000 points card in my Amazon cart, didn't buy it, and it went up the next day by 3 or 4 bucks.:bomb:

I have only listened to the new AIC album a couple times, but I have been a fan for long enough to buy most any dlc by this band.

Bitch about lack of official DLC and my anticipation for RBN and what happens? I Get an invite to beta test RBN, but I need to get an XNA Membership to do it. Should I go for it?
I don't care what anybody else says, I really want a Creed pack.
Creed was the Nickelback of the 90's. They took the blatant commercialism a little too far, but you still can't deny that they had some decent songs.

You can trace it back even further.

Bush -> Creed -> Nickelback -> taking generic rock to heights never before seen. They gave the word bland an all new meaning.

Well the strum bar on my trusty old wired X-plorer seems to be busted. So I'm thinking of finally upgrading to a Rock Band 2 guitar. Any good deals on those? It appears that Amazon doesn't even have them in stock!

CompUSA/CircuitCity online has them for $40 - I think I'll bite at that price unless someone here convinces me otherwise. I know the GHWT/GH5 guitars seem to go on sale fairly regularly, but I'd like to have access to the exclusive features on the RB guitar (effects switch, solo frets, auto-calibration mic) even if I don't end up using them much.

i will deny this

A "Monster Ballads" pack might be nice, too. White Lion, Winger, Warrant, Scorpions, Whitesnake, Tesla, Slaughter, Stryper, Saigon Kick, etc.

Don't XNA games have to be tethered to an active online Xbox Live connection? Does anyone know if the same restriction will apply to RBN songs?

Tesla (Modern Day Cowboy) is coming to Guitar Hero 6, but if they came to RB they would need their own pack. Same with Skid Row. The rest you listed, yeah, group 'em together. :D Oh and toss in some Poison and Mr. Big for good measure.

As long as we're on "monster ballads" how about some REAL REO Speedwagon? It was devastating to get a pack of theirs and not include "Keep On Loving You" OR "Can't Fight This Feeling". I don't care how "boring" they would be to play. Those songs are both epic power ballads that can't be ignored under any circumstances.

For that matter, let's throw in Extreme "More Than Words" as well.

I finally tried Rock Band, I bought a drum set for 10 bucks at walmart and bought RB2 game only on amazon. It is amazing!!! I can't believe it took me this long to finally give it a chance. :D
Now you guys are talking! I would kill for Skid Row and Tesla.
High five. Throw in some Queensryche and Fates Warning with those two.

I'm going upstairs to put some Dokken on my ipod now. And dream that they, too, will someday be featured in a music game...

Well, they are the "Dream Warriors!"

And soon you will find the money pit that is DLC. Welcome to the genre!

In the game yes. Grouped with those other hair bands, no.

Mindcrime is still my #1 full album want. Speaking of, outside of the Beatles has Harmonix totally abandoned the full album model?

It seems the best they do for full album now is a 5 pack of random songs or singles of a band. I Guess not selling as much as they want or people really only want to play songs they recognize.
I don't know if I'd leave the house for a week if they released Dream Theater's Scenes From a Memory album on DLC....
Right there with ya. Don't know if you saw, but I posted a couple pages back that they are in talks to release their entire catalog on RBN. Go change your underpants now, that's disgusting.

You've got a couple of options - it's REALLY easy to fix (and you have a custom arcade stick, so you're comfy with a torx and wires, right?). Or if you've got a Sam's club around you, check to see if they have any of the GH:A or WT guitar/game bundles left for $18. Best Buy was clearing the RB2 Wireless guitars out for $35 the week before Xmas, but as you know, their clearances are YMMV.

And yeah...I'll buy more Hair Metal DLC - I've got all the Motley Crue, and want more. I'd KILL for Monkey Business by Skid Row. But I REALLY want some Helmet - even if it's just Meantime. I never got to play GH1, and that's the only game it's appeared on. And I want some Echo and the Bunnymen, Cure, and Smiths too.

I ordered one from Amazon yesterday and spent a little more than I wanted to, but they're out of stock now so I'm glad I did. Thanks for the heads-up on Best Buy, it's definitely worth a look in case I end up getting a second one!

Played RB2 on PS3 today, and I had to download an update. Is this the equivalent of the 360 update? If so, what is there besides improved HOPO chord recognition and sorting songs by stars?

Yes.

As far as what it has besides the things you mentioned - not much. Prep for RBN's launch, supposedly.
Monkey Business would be awesome.
Yes, and "Wasted Time". I really don't remember any others from that album.

"Quicksand Jesus" and "In a Darkened Room" were both superior ballads to "Wasted Time", imo. That album also had the title track("Slave to the Grind"), "Livin' on a Chain Gang", "Psycho Love", and "The Threat". There was also "Get the fuck Out", but I don't think that will ever be in RB. The rest of the songs are mediocre, so I really can't recall the titles right now. But the ones you mentioned and the ones I listed are all classics.

^ the previous live versions of petty we got were pretty great. I have faith that these will be good but it's just waiting to see which live ones they use that will break the deal.

So I finally got a proper RB2 guitar yesterday. That auto-calibration thing is weird! Anyway, I was wondering what is considered "proper" technique for using the extra solo buttons. I'm figuring you are meant to use your "strumming hand" on those buttons during a solo? Or do people usually slide their "fret hand" lower on the next and do it that way?

Also what is the deal with the effects switch? Based on my limited time trying it out last night, I think your selected effect will activate when you use overdive. Anything else about it I should be aware of?

Yikes. I know a girl that would buy this game just because of the Phoenix tracks.

I'll pass on everything for next week. Is it me or are we getting a LOT of quick repeat bands lately?
I'll pass on everything for next week. Is it me or are we getting a LOT of quick repeat bands lately?
Hmmm, you're right. AiC packs were fairly close and the last two Nirvana packs were quite close as well. I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting.

As far as the solo buttons, i usually slide my fretting hand down. The selected effect I believe activates during solos. I haven't played with a Stratocaster in a while so... yeah.

I've pretty much given up on the solo buttons - the fumbling involved in switching positions and play style aren't really worth it to me. Also my yellow solo button doesn't work all the time.
So I guess Beatles DLC is done, eh?
Who knows. I'd guess that is the case but there has been zero news about how well the previous DLC sold (outside of All You Need Is Love selling a ton). This is from memory, but when Abbey Road first came out but I think they said the full album DLC isn't likely, but they may do further packs/singles depending on sales.
