If liking my music to sound like actual, y'know, music (instead of a 5-6 minute collection of disparate sounds where the "singer" is just growling unintelligibly into the mic, the drummer is bashing on the drums as hard and as fast as he can and the guitarist is just plucking any strings he can find) means I have a vagina, then I guess I HAVE THE BIGGEST VAGINA IN THE WORLD.
What you describe is death metal, and is only a small percentage of metal genre's.

Real metal, and the type myself and many here like, has almost the exact same structure as symphony. Just different instruments.

Yep, you pretty much do.
I downloaded the Offspring pack, and found myself wondering where the guitar was.
so true... i love the songs though... (not pretty fly, i didn't dare download that)

but i play drums anyway so, good stuff.

What is it with The Offspring songs in Rock Band and sadistic chord changes? I don't think I'll ever hit all the notes consecutively at the end of the chorus for Pretty Fly.

I didn't have a problem with Pretty Fly, but Self Esteem kicked my ass with the constant chord changes.

And what's with the past two pages of bickering about the merits of metal? People still can't accept the fact that people like different music? So someone doesn't like Visions makes them a pussy? Gimmie a fucking break. Could you be more of a third grader? Then you have the lemmings jumping off that cliff with him. I thought this forum was a little better than that.

Wow, that was you? I saw that clear over here this morning and was wondering who it belonged to.

Aww, your lil' speech was cute. Are you gonna give that to the other guys too? You know, the ones who said metal stinks and is terrible? Or are they free from "accepting the fact that people like different music"?

P.S. I wish I said people had vaginas in third grade; I would've been the most awesome third grader ever.

Well, this thread is going down-hill fast, with all this vagina talk, and no pictures to back it up.

Anyway, I downloaded the Offspring pack, I was hesitant at first, but I'm so glad I did. I agree, not enough guitar parts in it, but once I was actually in the songs and playing them and re-living memories, I didn't mind as-much.

I'm not sure if I'm going to buy the M.C. album or not yet either, I really haven't heard much from it besides K.S.M.H., which is an instant buy - no matter if I get the entire pack, or just that (thank you, Shoot Em Up, for bringing that song to my ears).

I Was thinking the same damn thing. Thank you Clive Owen, indeed. That or really any action movie trailer with lots of guns.
Rent Rock Band 1, pay to export the songs to Rock Band 2, then return the game.
I see. You just have to export from the disk then whenever you play RB2 you can play the songs from the first one.

Yes. You can play all but three songs and it costs 400 Microsoft Points to do the transfer.

Can someone please explain the "stand-in" function in world tour? I was under the assumption that if a friend came over and made a character, when I resume playing, that character could join me.
Can someone please explain the "stand-in" function in world tour? I was under the assumption that if a friend came over and made a character, when I resume playing, that character could join me.
From what I can tell, "stand-in" allows you to select which characters will appear in your band when no one else is playing with you. If you made a themed band, for example, you could have them all playing together rather than just your one character and 3 randoms.
Someone above posted a righteous pic of their WWF band and they would be able to have them all onscreen in the band at the same time while only one player was actually playing. You don't get any extra money or fans, only the coolness of completing whatever theme you're going for.

Hope that makes sense...

Right, but it won't let me select anyone to have be a stand-in. I even signed in their profile with a second controller and it STILL wouldn't let me do it.
Can someone please explain the "stand-in" function in world tour? I was under the assumption that if a friend came over and made a character, when I resume playing, that character could join me.
What I did is, on my main profile, made my character and 7 or 8 other characters (friends I'd play with in real life) all on that one profile. When I go into my band, I have the option to pick from all 8 or 9 characters as stand ins. On the character select screen, it separates your character from the others since your main guy is actually in the band.
You can also select the character and force them to join the band instead of just being 'stand-ins.'
This is a good method, because then your "actual" band members will show up when you make pictures on RockBand.com . When I just had a bunch of stand-ins, the website would only generate pictures of myself, with no one else in the band.
Right, but it won't let me select anyone to have be a stand-in. I even signed in their profile with a second controller and it STILL wouldn't let me do it.
Right, cause they are signed in under THEIR profile. Your characters only show up under YOUR profile.

my RB1 drums are starting to crap out on me [ again, this is my 1st replacement set ] and was going through the ea site to see if i could get a replacement but noticed that you have to verify your purchase [ within 60 days of ] with a receipt... i got the game at launch :(

If they're going for an authentic experience you should be able to "tune" your guitar so that you can play drop-d'ed power chords just like the "pros" (i.e. with just one finger/button).

That would make the Offspring songs much easier.
Is anyone else's Rockband.com account just constantly making random photos on its own? Mine did so for each character.
yeah mine too

That would be a neat thing to add to World Tour mode, Soul Calibur 4-like skill customization: one button chords, no-fail during solos, increased overdrive gain. But then, that's probably the kind of thinking that led to boss battles. Forget I said anything.

Boss battles...the fact that they tried it is ok, but they are bringing it back in GH:WT. Like how fucking retarded do you have to be?

"Hey guys! Nobody liked boss battles, so lets dedicate time and money to add it to World Tour rather than add in other worthwhile features or more songs!"

Whatever though, I'll still check it out.
I was thinking last night, what we really need in RB is some Queensryche; the full Operation Mindcrime album anyone?
:applause: I agree with you 100%, Ive been hoping for that since the game started. Its on my RB profile and Ive requested it a few times. Id be in heaven if that came up as a DLC option:drool::bouncy:

I just managed to score the wireless drum set at circuit city for 70 bucks, because it was labeled wrong.

What sucks is I am pretty sure my blue is double hitting or something. I am breaking streaks on silly stuff.

What a bummer :/

I decided only to buy Kickstart My Heart. I only liked one or two of the other songs from it, but not enough to buy them.

So-far, I'd say it's my least favorite M.C. album.
Anyone here have the ION Drum Kit? I'd love to read some impressions to see if it's worth a pick up or not.
Yeah.
The pads are awesome. They're just a bit bigger, and the rebound is about 5-10 times better than the Rock Band 1 kit, and that helps a lot with rolls and getting into complex rhythms. Every hit registers, and you can put them wherever is most comfortable to you.
The cymbals are a bit more difficult. I do get a few misses here and there, but nothing major. I just now, after about an hour, think I put the cymbals on right, and they're fun as hell.
The pedal is actually really good, in my opinion. I mean, I'm used to some really bad pedals, so this one is pretty heavenly for me. It's not as loud as people say it is, unless you really pound on it (as in lift your foot off your pedal every note, and then just slam your foot down when there's note to hit, and lift again). It responds really well, and I'm sure it's great on carpet floors (comes with velcro). There were times where I was barely lifting my foot at all, and it would register hits when necessary.
I'm really happy with this kit.
I'll have to take back what I said about the pedal though.
It really is loud, and it just now started sticking to the floor. Sometimes when I push the pedal down, it takes awhile to get back up.
Still great, though.

It's triggering the yellow, mine did the same thing and it's pretty common. You can RMA it, or do as I did.

Carefully pull off the yellow pad, and remove the orange sensor mount. Take a look at the band-aid looking sticker and see it it's off-center and somewhat bunched up. That was the problem with mine and removing/recentering it fixed the problem 99%. It only still triggers the yellow when you insanely beat on the blue, which I never do while playing.

The more I play it, the more I think Get Clean by Anarchy Club is my favorite song off the Rock Band 2 disc - even beating out some of my favorite rock/pop-rock bands like Journey, Rage Against the Machine, and Duran Duran.

I'll definitely go into freestyle mode and pound the blue to see if it is in fact affecting the yellow.

Although it seemed to subside after just the first time playing it, I'll go home and double check it though. Thanks for the help.

Also, does popping the pad off void the warranty? How do you go about taking it off exactly?

I did the Endless Setlist 2 over the weekend on expert guitar. Man that took 6 hours and 40 minutes. Don't know how anyone could sit there and stare at the same thing that long and not have to get up at some point. No way I'd ever get that achievement.

Only failed Painkiller once before I beat it. That surprised me. That crappy Death Metal song I failed like 4 or 5 times though. God how I hate it... The worst part was not that I failed it 4 or 5 times it was that I had to hear it 4 or 5 times.
Yeah.

Still great, though.
Thanks. So does the set come with 3 cymbals or just the two? I've heard conflicting reports on that matter. And it's safe to say you highly recommend the set? I just can't stand the RB drum set. All I can hear is the clacking of the pads. I want something where I can hear everything else.

Does anyone have the Flawless Guitar Solo achievement? I've done it several times, but it hasn't unlocked. That's 100% on a solo in expert using only the solo buttons.

It comes with 2 cymbals. The third is an extra 50 bucks.
It's up to you if it's worth it.

I highly recommend the Ion if you have the money and play RB2 more than twice a week and are an experienced player. (Hard-Expert)
I never get any pad misses on my pads, but you might want to consider buying a different pedal.
