so you created the same name or a brand new one?

EDIT: Also one of the release dates for the drums was today. Anyone heard anything?

So what comes out this week? Game only or the Xbox 360 bundle? Is there somewhere that lists when every different version is coming out?

Game only for 360 will be released Sunday. Everything else will be released next month.

Go to gamestop.com and look up Rock Band 2 - you'll get all the game/bundle/peripherals with their release dates.

On the 14th the Xbox 360 game only is out along with the drum and guitar-only peripherals. The bundle is not out till Oct 19th. That is when most of the other stuff comes out as well (360 bundle, all the PS3 versions, PS2 game). Though the Wii version looks like Nov. 18th.

So yeah, no need to look at Gamestop now - I just summarized it for you ;).

Does this mean that stores can sell the game when they get it or just a message to the people that get it before the official street date?

I'm pretty sure that it is still street dated.

There is also one Battle of the Bands challenge titled "the Pre-release challenge". In the notes it says: "Play this battle for... wait a second, how did you get a copy of Rock Band 2 anyway? You'd better be playing off a legit disc, buddy!"

Thanks - I'm sure someone has done the math but what is the best option for someone that already owns the RB1 bundle? I'm leaning towards getting the new drums - I use the GH3 guitar so is there a reason to get anything else?

Sounds like we are in the same boat.

I was going to sell the drums on ebay but the new MSRP is $49.99 so with shipping I wouldn't get more than $20. So I traded in the drums and the game to GameCrazy for $47.50 (match $32 trade value from blockbuster for the game + 16.50 for drums). gamecrazy is the only game store I have found that takes the drums (gamestop does not).

I am keeping my GH3 guitar (still think it is the best) and getting RB2 and the new drums. And then getting the cymbals whenever they come out.
I'm gonna hold off for a deal on the drums, especially since mine already work fine.
Same here, the wireless and silence features just aren't enough for me yet. At least not at the $90 price point.

I'm gonna end up with a mish-mash of instruments to complete my "band" as well. Currently own a wired guitar from GHII, a wireless guitar from GHIII, and a mic from American Idol. I plan on trading in the RB1 disc today and putting the credit towards RB2 this Sunday. Then finally I'll get one of the new drumkits (most likely the one from GH:WT) within the next couple of months.

Am I just making shit up or did Harmonix say there was a feature that let you basically avoid songs for stuff like random setlists?

All the people I have on live locally that are playing it have pirated copies. Not saying that is the case for you, but for me it has been so far.

It's good to see so many people like the GH III guitar as that's the only one I've ever used (besides playing RB at Best Buy). So I don't feel too bad not getting the RB2 bundle and paying a bit more per piece for the game + drums now. I already have a mic from the American Idol game flip to Blockbuster. I planned to trade the mic in to GS for $4 but I thought it might have a use. That was well before I even knew I'd be getting Rock Band at all or that the mic was compatible so I'm glad I went with my hunch.

I wish I could get the new drums in a wired version. I see no reason for a wireless drum kit.
Well not having to deal with a USB hub is one reason I guess....but batteries are a PITA.
A local friend of mine was playing the game last night on Live. Hopefully, he can tell me where he acquired it.
It ships out to stores today and tomorrow, most places should have it in on Friday, so anyone you see on Live right now is playing a copy they downloaded.

Well, for me wired is not an option. For one thing it would be too close to the TV. But the main reason is the kids. A wired guitar would lead to disaster. The wired drums wouldn't be quite so bad except that my 9 month old is getting into all sorts of trouble now and the cord on the floor is asking for it. The drum kit itself will be bad enough . We already have problems with him and the mic cord. My son will be trying to sing (and he has to sit at the side of the TV so the cord reaches) and the baby will head right over there and start yanking on the cord. Fun times...

Same issue with my 1 year old. Just realize the battery issue though, need to get some more rechargeables.
Oh shit...

Rock Band 2 came in my work today and I can pick it up tomorrow. So um, yeah...
You suck, but maybe I can finagle my way into getting a copy early then if other retailers have gotten their shipments in.

out of curiosity where do you work? Also did you get the drums and guitars or just the game? I preordered at GameCrazy so I guess I should ask Scorch if he got them yet.
Am I just making shit up or did Harmonix say there was a feature that let you basically avoid songs for stuff like random setlists?
I certainly hope so, because my friends tend to avoid random setlists due to a handful of songs that they refuse to play (and always seem to come up).
+2 for using the word "finagle".
Well thank you, I had to look at it at first though because I thought I had spelled it wrong.

Toys'R'Us and so far we only just got the game, nothing else. So hopefully next few days may get the drum set, but we'll see.

Everyone at work also just knows I'm a whore for the game so makes thing's a bit easier...

Call me gay, by I just came upon some REO Speedwagon on my iTunes and I think some of their stuff should be on Rock Band.

80's rock in general is really lacking, and has lacked in virtually any music game out there with the exception of Rock the 80's of course.

Yeah, bands who destroyed the ozone layer really aren't represented as much as I wanted. I think only time I wouldn't mind Bret Michaels in a game, so cheesy it just works.

Am I the only one who'd like more Paramore in the game? Crushcrushcrush isn't my favorite, but something like Hallelujah would be amazing to play.

And honestly, I like the band more than I probably should. It seems fitting for Rock Band though.

Man, Paramore is a damn fine band. The song in RB2 is one of my favorites off of the RIOT! cd.

Not to mention Hayley is hot!
When will these fucking 20 bonus songs leak!?!
I'm starting to wonder if they're holding off until RB:WT comes out.

Oh, I should go preorder Rock Band World Tour!

well, I just traded in my original RB disc for the $32 (plus tax!) store credit at Blockbuster. Thanks for the heads-up on this great deal, fellow CAGs! I had almost sold it on half.com for twenty bucks. I have RB2 "reserved" there now, hopefully I won't have to wait too long to get it!

Why the fuck is the drum set wireless?!

A guitar being wireless makes more than perfect sense. A drum set though?

It's just going to be another thing that sucks up batteries, and another reason to experience double hits. I really hope that there is a wired option for the RB2 kit.

I would like to thank the majority of the general gaming community that touts wireless as nothing but convenient! convenient!! convenient!!!

This sucks!

For what version of disc?
Guess what I'm playing?!

Also mine says nothing about broken street date.
For the record, I hate you. Also on the record, good job. Any personal thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

First off there's more faces and the interface feels more sleek. Also the bonus DL songs are a code on the back of the booklet that you enter in the website and then get a token to DL when they're made avaliable.
