Does anyone here have the ion drums? If so, how do they function with the colors/bars that come up on the screen? Thumbs up or thumbs down?
Anyone?
Anyone?
Well I don't have them myself, but alls I can tell you is that each cymbal is just a duplicate input for the corresponding pad color. So during a song, you'll get the same sound whether you hit the yellow pad or the yellow cymbal. However, they will be treated as distinct inputs during fills or the freestyle mode. Not sure if you were looking for some first-hand impressions (which I can't give) or just some general info though!

Thumbs up or thumbs down?
They are fantastic (read: very thumbs up). They are much more responsive than the normal drum sets for RB or GH:WT, which means no BS when you hit tricky songs or a long run of 16th notes, etc. As BustaUppa already mentioned, the cymbals are just duplicate pads for the regular parts of the songs (they have their own unique sound for drum fills and Big Rock Endings) and they are just as responsive as the pads. The whole Ion set feels like an amazing piece of work once you switch over from the regular drum sets.

Good to know.

And yeah, Busta, I was looking for some hands-on impressions because I've read some other reviews but I wanted to know what some CAGs thought of them. The one complaint I came across was the pedal/kick drum feel. I would really like to use these possibly in the future with making some (real) music. I want to learn how to play the drums because I'm pretty good on piano and decent on the guitar. So I thought if I ever get some studio software that I might use these drums to lay some drum tracks instead of using a drum pad, or maybe in combination. Not sure yet.

Only negative for me about the ION is the bass pedal. Ended up getting a Rock Pedal so it doesn't really matter anyway, that thing is beastly.

nothing really good this week. Had hopes for honest bob and the megasus song, but they where both pretty mediocre. Megasus is the best song of the bunch this week though if you get anything

Listen up CAG rock stars! Me and JohnnyFoxDarko (guitar and drums, respectively) want to put together a CAG supergroup! That means we need bass and vox, Expert players only please! I think with a really kick-ass CAG band we could post some fuckin' killer scores on the leaderboards. So yeah!

I'd like to play with you guys. I'm ranked around 1500 on the guitar career leaderboards if that says anything. Sadly all my guitars are busted but I'll be getting some via Circuit City in the mail next week. Weak ass strum bars.
Not limited to bass, though. I'm sure you two could switch it up every now and again.
Also, we'd probably set up some dates for "band practice".
Totally! I like being the 6x multiplier, too.

Seems like there's some interest, so maybe we could get a little group going or something? Perhaps a plethora of new bands will arise!

After that....

CHEAPASSGAMER: WORLD TOUR '09.

I'd like to give it a try. I can definitely do bass on expert, and most of the songs on expert guitar.
I would so be in, but I can only rock expert vocals on certain songs.
That's pretty much the case with almost everyone I think. I'm definitely a high-level vocalist, but it doesn't mean anything if you don't know all the songs. I'm decent at just sort of sight-reading it as it goes if I'm not familiar with it, but there's less room for error when you're playing on expert when it comes to that approach.
Wasn't there supposed to be a feature to exclude songs you didn't want coming up in random setlists in RB2? Or was that a dream?
Yeah, they talked about that at launch and it just never happened.

HOLY SHIT.... I have wanted I Stand Alone since I played Guitar Hero on PS2, this just made my day. In for that and Space Cowboy and Take the Money and Run as well, maybe Rob Zombie, gotta listen to that song first (although I'd love me some Dragula, Living Dead Girl, or Superbeast). Good thing I picked up a 4000 point card on Amazon last week.

Definitely in for some Steve Miller. I'll probably end up grabbing I Stand Alone, too.

Normally I'd grab anything White Zombie/Rob Zombie, but that song is sorta stinky :whistle2:#

Not a big Godsmack fan but I'm definitely in for that one.

Agreed with others, would be glad to have more Zombie stuff but that song doesn't do much for me.

Wonder what happened to Refuse/Resist. It was on that leaked stuff from forever ago but it never showed up.

Fantastic news about "I Stand Alone" by Godsmack, that song is seriously awesome. I heard it on AOL Radio a few weeks ago and all I was thinking was 'Rock Band'. I'll pick it up the next time I have points. Don't completely bash Godsmack, their "The Other Side" album was great.:bouncy:

The Rob Zombie song isn't too bad judging by the 30-second preview on Amazon. It's more up-tempo than almost every song on Educated Horses(which is definitely a good thing). I'll pick "War Zone" up because it's Zombie, but I really wish it was something off Hellbilly Deluxe or The Sinister Urge instead. I requested the entire Hellbilly Deluxe album(it was the first album I ever bought) when I did my survey for the 20 free songs.....along with "The Touch" by Stan Bush......I want that damn song in Rock Band NOW!:lol::lol:

aaaaaahahha awesome, I've been wanting Mute Math in Rock Band since the game come out! I'll probably end up getting "I Stand Alone" too, I can imagine those goofy-ass vocals being a riot in a party setting.

Weak for the Zombie song. I will be getting "I Stand Alone" and "Take the Money and Run", though.

I'm pissed for buying the Kravitz song, as it's included in GHWT. I was planning on getting that soon, too.

Ok, almost none of that DLC rings a bell. But I think I might pick up some of the classic rock tracks. Nice week with lots of variety. The kind of DLC I like to see.

Holy crap. I never imagined they'd release a Belly song. My wife will freak out when she finds out. I may have to start petitioning for some Local H now. I have hope where there was none before.
