RPG Thread IX is a steaming pile of pointless monologue. Just Youtube the ending!

I think I'm just going to do some more grinding in ToV and prepare myself for unlocking the fell arms. It sounds like Duke's 3rd can be a pain in the ass. My original plan was to grind for some for some more GRADE but it's too much work for me.

I forgot how ridiculous some of the achievements for Tales of Vesperia were...

I'd love to do a group play, but this summer is going to be hectic as hell so I doubt I'd be able to keep any kind of schedule (I've played maybe 4 hrs of Vesperia in the past 5 days...) :(

Also welcome nickkhun23! Hope you enjoy CAG as much as the rest of us :D

whooo~!!! I beat a game today that is not an RPG!

now I am ready to play a new game, and I want that new game to be Demon Souls!!

any tips for beginners?? I heard someone say u should pick a range attacker as your class...

A new Super Robot Wars Original Generation game has been announced for the PS3. I really really really really hope this gets localized.

The general consensus is that it's easiest to start as the royalty class because you have a ranged spell and you start with a ring that lets you regen MP.
Hunter isn't a bad beginning class either because it starts with a bow.

The magician isn't a bad beginning class either. It begins with a fire spell, and most of the enemies in the first level are weak to fire, but it doesn't have the MP regen ring, so you'll probably just run out of magic too quickly for it to matter.

And in case you didn't know, your class doesn't effect anything other than what you start with. Any class can use any weapon, wear any armor and cast any spell.

Ugh I give up trying to get max social links in P3:Fes. Trying to max it out just sucked out the enjoyment of playing.

I'm really hoping The Witcher 2 gets ported to the consoles otherwise I would need to save up about 1k just to build a new rig. If it does get ported, then I can buy myself a PS3 and get Tales of Graces F when it comes out.
41,790 yen for the 2nd Super Robot Taisen OG LE. Thats like over $500
It does come with the entire second season of the anime on Blu-ray. I just hope Atlus will pick this up for the US. They released the two GBA games, but didn't release the PS2 game.
Atlus also released the first Super Robot Taisen OG Saga on DS but passed on the next 2.
Forgot about that third one. That was an actual SRPG too.

I have access to a Wii again so I feel like trying to 100% muramasa, game is so damn fun.

The sudden death mode is a pile of bullshit though. No human can do that.
Forgot about that third one. That was an actual SRPG too.
The first two SRT OG games were SRPG for the GBA.

The "third" one was SRT Endless Frontier for the DS and was a RPG set in an alternate universe. I played through about 10 hours of it, realized it was boring crap and quit.

I'd LOVE another SRT/SRW actual SRPG for any console.

There's a PS2 OG game, and 2 DS ones. And I thought Endless Frontier was great.

Well, I want North America/English released ones. How could we play anything else?

Aside from the constant jiggling Endless Frontier was dull. You just spammed the same attacks, you only needed your spells/skills during boss battles, too much backtracking and bland envirornments.

The system is more involved than most RPG combat... It has real-time chains that are customizable... As the game progressed, enemies had enough hp to use your skills in all fights... Did you actually play it for more than 5 minutes?

No, I mean the third DS game in the Super Robot Wars OG Saga games. The first of those was Endless Frontier and then Endless Frontier Exceed (I think). The 3rd one was a remake of the of the SNES game and it was an actually SRPG and I believe it focuses on Cybuster.
I honestly dont care about the OG stuff. Probably would hold out until a real SRW game on PS3
All I really care about are giant robots and SRPGs. And the OG games are the only ones with a chance to be released officially in the US. I'd love to play more of them, but I just can't play the Japanese ones for more than a few hours. Fan translations take so long who knows if any of the DS ones or the new one for the PSP will ever get them.

maaaaan Demons Souls is confusing...

I'm not sure if it's fun yet... but I spent close to 2 hours playing it just to beat the first stage

I can play DS in my SLEEP! Because I was playing while falling asleep all the time.

Just keep reading the hints and blood splatter, they help. Once you can summon spirits, keep doing it. If they die, summon more.

If you beat the first stage in 2 hours you'll be fine. It definitely gets more fun from there (IMO) because everything is now open and you can level up.

The chains were just simple timing things just to get your 'super meter' to fill up and then press a button to unleash the animation jiggle attack. Rinse, repeat with new character. Boss dead.

I played through to about the third or fourth world.

I'd love to play more of the SRT OG or just the SRW games but I highly doubt they're ever coming stateside.

Cept it wasn't "simple". Some skills don't chain with others. Some had weird points to cancel. And I still fail to see how this system is more repetitive to any other RPG's combat system. Hit attack, rinse, repeat. Move behind character, hit attack, repeat.

My problem with it is that it caused me to constantly pay attention to the battles. Sometimes I like to just go on autobattle for awhile.

That's a valid complaint, but then you're not really playing at that point. =P

In other news, an Atlus newsletter dated June 23th 1999 just came out. I guess that's confirmation that the PSP Persona 2 Innocent Sin remake is coming to the US (the original PS1 Japanese release date was June 24th 1999).

I'm still doing the work of exploring the dungeons and solving an puzzles that might be there. Also, it's not like I keep autobattle on the entire game. It's just battles get tedious when exploring dungeons for all the treasure and you realize you start going the right way and you have to go back to see if there was treasure down the other path you ignored.

I was wondering about that lol.

I beat the 2nd stage tho!! man Royal class is cheap!!!

I have 14000 souls now and I dont kno how to spend them on what!!

Just spend your souls according to which items you want to quickly use.

Summoning spirits is co-oping. To do it, just make sure you are in a safe area and open your item menu and use the blue stone. Now just wait until someone joins your game! You can summon 2 spirits within your game and a third black soul can invade your game (though they can help too).

Classes make no difference in the long game. Early game, Royal class makes it easy to get through the first level.

It's been awhile since I've played, but I think if he uses the blue stone then he'll get summoned. He wants to find a blue mark on the ground where someone else used their blue stone to summon people. Also, to summon people you have to be in body form not soul form.

Jekki: You can only summon blue spirits in body form though. If you are in soul form (as I spent the majority of my first playthrough in by suiciding in the nexus) you can't summon helpers. You can however join another game as a spirit and help them (never done this myself).

Stat wise, as j-cart said, try looking up online what weapons you want to end up with and aim for their minimum stats. Do you plan on using a bow, sword/board (my preferred style), two handed sword, magic? Keep pumping stats into Vitality and Endurance but I think endurance stops raising your stamina at 30 or 40 so you can stop once that happens. Dexterity is a requirement for a lot of bows and some other weapons, and strength is necessary for heavy armors and weapons. Conversely to most games, I've heard that a low luck is more helpful for getting the rare materials, as luck increases the chances of an enemy drop, but also makes it more likely you'll get a common drop when it happens.

I was in body mode for a while in stage 2...

then this dragon came the fukk out of nowhere and was like biiiiiiiiitch!!!

So in order to finish the Labyrinth of Memories in Tales of Vesperia I need to find 15 fake Gald. But it appears randomly after fights with Boss Memories or in chests.... thats fucking retarded. Not to mention you can only do this in a new game+.

And it seems that after level 80 my healers AI became retarded and likes to ignore the tactics I set.
Great, so we Xbots who played Vesperia and want more are left twisting in the wind. Awesome!

Ah well, I guess since Vesperia PS3 didn't make it out of Japan, it's now our turn to get screwed.
Tales sells in Japan, and Xbox 360 has bombed Japan badly. That is why Tales of Graces F is never coming to 360 and neither will Tales of Xilla.

Anyway, I completed the true ending for Saki in Ar Tonelico: Qoga 5 days ago. It was great because I got to see
Sake and Aoto get married
. There were lots of emotional scenes in
phase 4
. I beat the game in 47 hours. There's still more to unlock, but I think I'm done. Once you obtain ultra supermoves and perform the flip spheres, battles become easy. Definitely one of my favorite JRPGs this gen.

I think I want to do another playthrough of Tales of Vesperia.

I also started playing an old save I had from like two hours into Final Fantasy XII the other night. I kind of want to go through that game another time too.
I think I want to do another playthrough of Tales of Vesperia.
I have been wanting to do that for a while. I held off hoping to hear about a US release of the PS3 version. But I finally gave up about a few weeks ago.

I'm still trying to get that 15 fake gald to fight the boss of the Labyrinth of Memories... Honestly by the time I get it the boss probably won't be much of a challenge. I'm pretty much walking through the Boss Memories with no problem. :/

Start XII! Love it. Just found out my roommate has played 10 hrs in twice now, and other responsibilities keep making him stop. He's planning on starting a third time soon, here's to hoping he gets past the 10 hr mark :D

Played a few hours of NIER last night and got to the second part of the game. So can someone explain this (without spoilers if possible) about how the multiple endings work?

Ending A is gotten by beating the game once.

Ending B, a second time.

The third time, you can choose between C & D but only if you have all the weapons, as that is a requirement for ending C. So it's recommended that you save at the last save point, get C, reload and then get D as D will delete your save file.
