RPG Thread XIX is getting a rhythm game spinoff

hey guys, i have a stupid question to ask. i just recently got star ocean last hope international, and Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist Of Arland. the issue i have is how do you quit the game while in game from the start menu. when i pulled up the options menus, while in game there are no quit game options. i had to press the ps button on my controller to quit game.

 
Any news on a US release of DQ 7 3DS? Last I heard, Squenix was 'evaluating' it or something. I have paused my DQ 5 game and gone back into Etrian Odyssey IV again as I await Bravely Default.

Oh, but I did pick up a PAL copy of Battle vs Chess for PS3 this weekend at a flea market. Holy shit, this is the best chess game EVER. Sucks that Interplay killed the US release because it sounds too much like Battle Chess. This is the version of chess that I have wanted to play my whole life. Man, I'm such a nerd, but I don't care, chess is cool and having actual combat against chess pieces is so fulfilling. I really wish the 3DS wasn't region-locked, or I would hunt down that version.

FWIW the tiers have been revised on the Unsung Story Kickstarter. They now have Alexander O. Smith at $750K and Hitoshi Sakimoto/Vita port at $100K.

 
Anyone try that Lightning Returns demo yet? Can't decide whether I like it or not. Might cancel my preorder and wait for a sale.

Interesting, thanks. I never played the game, but I have heard that 7 is probably the most tedious of the series, with a lot of backtracking, and the original didn't have that great of a translation to start with. I would assume the localization would take awhile.

It's definitely tedious since you have to find these fragments to progress and it's not immediately obvious to where they are all the time.
There's also a fair bit of backtracking, though it's usually obvious where you have to go.

That said, the 3DS version eliminates some of the tedium by giving you a fragment radar that lights up when there's a fragment on the level you're in. The game seems a lot easier than I remember too, though I haven't reached the robot boss which IIRC was the first major step up in difficulty in the game.

 
I downloaded Lightning Returns demo and I'll give it a try this weekend. I don't really have high expectations. Maybe Atlas will be taking notes, cause I may wanna dress up my senpai in Persona 5 to help get the ladies.

Anybody tried that Might & Magic X yet?
 
Well, I pre-ordered Bravely Default standard at Gamestop. I paid it in full too. It seems like 2014 is a good year for JRPGs. February has a lot of good JRPGs coming out this month. You got Bravely Default, Lightning Returns, and Tales of Symphonia Chronicles.

I talked my wife into getting this for me from Amazon for Christmas....I haven't gotten too much into it but I'm glad I got it...

 
I maxed out the stores in my town, now I'm working on maxing out all the jobs for each character before fighting the last boss in Bravely Default demo. I downloaded Etrian Odyssey Untold in the eShop last night. I'm starting from where I left off on the demo. 

 
I should hopefully finish off VC 2 tonight. (Unless I need  to grind one guy up to a Fencer Elite) and then maybe move on to EO IV.

Although I still have alot to play on the VIta.

 
The Lightning Returns demo isn't bad. About what I expected from the videos I've watched.

I still need to go back and complete XIII-2; collect all the post-game fragments and get the final ending.

 
The combat didn't grab me, but it's a fairly limited demo. I'm not planning on getting til it drops to about $20 anyways. That's what I did worth XIII-2 and at that price it was a very worthwhile investment.

 
I liked the part where you can change the colors of her outfits but did not like the part where they limited you on what parts of the outfit's color you can change.

 
Finished the second dungeon on Persona 4, I've been playing it kind of sparingly because when I pick it up I get sucked in and play til like 3 am, don't always have time to do that.

 
Started Persona 4 myself today. Only about three days in, and I already have the Junes jingle slightly stuck in my head… thanks a lot, Nanako :roll:

I spent several hours last night in FF XIII-2 getting the casino fragments. The chocobo races are very boring, and the slot machine is garbage. But at least I got the fragments and can move on. Just a few more to go, including the "kill one of every enemy" fragment which will probably take me awhile.

Anyone play any of the DLC for FF XIII-2? Specifically, I was wondering if the Snow/Sazh/Lightning DLC stuff were worth the purchase.

The Lightning DLC is fun and has some cool story stuff. And of course you can unlock COM-Lightning for your team. I didn't touch the Snow and Sazh DLCs.
 
Didn't bother with the DLCs. :/ Kinda wanted to honestly.

ACTUALLY. I feel like I did do Sazh's. I can't remember though. 

 
Btw I had no idea how many awesome rpgs are on the Vita PSN between current stuff, PSP releases (LUNAR) and classics. I feel like this is just going to be my portable rpg machine.

 
If that was a real game I would buy the hell out of it.

I would buy it so HARD... that the next Bison wannabe, is gonna feel it.

Wished they had a digitial version of FF XIII instead of the FF XIII-2 that's on sale now. I'd probably play it for $9.

Although I haven't liked the switch to a hands-off MMO style combat that  I've seen the last few games have.

After finishing VC 2 I meant to start Etrian Odyssey IV on my :3ds: but it just kinda looked like more of the same, so decided to fire up Mario 3D land instead.

 
Almost done with with Atelier Ayesha.Extremely addicting and fun,but I do wish the game had more boss fights,considering the first one appears near the end of the game(excellent fight though).

 
Started up my save of Ys: MoC again (started playing it at launch and got sidetracked by exams) and wow, it looks like I'm already half-way done with the game (it's an amazing game by the way)

I think I'm going to go pick up Xenoblade tomorrow and use the birthday coupon on it, so I can get it for around $40

it's cool I guess! I like the ninja.

I can see how when the actual game comes out there'll be many ways to break the game lol.

but that means there'll also prolly be a lot of tough bosses too >_<

I got the game pre-ordered, but I doubt I'll be playing it any time soon.

 
Beat Zelda ALBW on hero mode with all gear and equipment.
The Nice Tornado Rod was my guardian angel, its so OP. Once I got the blue tunic the game felt easy again (beat the treacherous tower with blue tunic, 16 hearts, 3 bottles, lvl 2 sword, upgraded spin and T-rod), but it turned up the difficulty on the last 2 dungeons. Just loved this game and had a blast playing it.
Now to finish Project X Zone, man those battles are sooo long. I'm practically rushing the enemies, have +2 range almost the whole time, and counter every chance I get and its still over an hour battle. But I love the music and characters so theres that. Hopefully done before Bravely Default and FF13LR drop.
 
Just got 4 fragments left to collect in FF 13-2; three paradox endings with some tough boss fights and the "kill one of every monster". I also went ahead and bit on the Snow/Sazh/Lightning DLCs, cause I'm a sucker.

Also still slowly plodding along in EO IV as I await Bravely D.

Can you save during those Project X Zone battles? I've got that on my shelf and don't really want to start playing it if I know I'll be locked into it for an hour (Or more ) without saving.

I like how you guys waited until my XBL died out to start talking about P4 Arena again.

My fiancee's taking a break from her playthrough of P3P. Her party got Mahama'd and she wasn't thrilled.
