Sega has Cut Yakuza 3 content, Listings of entire Cuts now available.
if your read my previous posts I explain the entire Sega ordeal, they planned on not saying anything at all, we just got lucky and found out before they released it. They didn't want to give us a chance in the first place.
Okay I didn't read your post but I see why this might be a issue.
Ok You can't compare Movies to Videogames, Movies get cut because of Organizations and Goverments like the MPAA.
Not all cuts made to a movie are because of the MPAA and the like. Sometimes a scene is cut in the interest of cutting down the running time of a film, just because the director doesn't feel like it fits or some other reasons I don't feel like thinking of right now..

From what I read the cuts to FFXIII were stuff that SE felt didn't fit into the main story and decided to remove it and that they had no plans to release it as DLC. Of course there are some pople probalby syaing it's because of the 360 version.

They had to hyper impose people over the sex scenes because of the MPAA, a majority of the time its because of them. A good movie to watch is "This Movie is Not Yet Rated" on why cuts get made in the movie industry.

It is Microsoft's fault, I bet they complained that they wanted an equal game compared to the 360 version and paid them off. Thats why there is no Limited edition for ps3. However I'm more passionate about the yakuza games than ff.

If thats the case they must have paid them a good deal of money if they are going to gimp the Japanese version of thr game since Japan is only getting FFXIII for the PS3. But lets drop that subject since this isn't the FFXIII thread.

I just brought up the FF13 issue to make a point that some of you guys are being too pig-headed about the issue. FF13 fans have more of a reason to complain than you guys about Yakuza 3.

Just to bring it into perspective here, the part of Yakuza 3 that was cut, could be considered insignificant to some. However, the FF13 was totally overhauled. At least you're getting like 95% of the Yakuza game.

The FFXIII argument doesn't make any sense. Stop it.

I never played the earlier Yakuzas. Yakuza 3 was the first to have an easily accessible demo. So do I want to pay full price for a version of the game that is missing a popular part of the game's overall experience? Hell no. This could have been Sega's chance to expand the fanbase, since the demo may have been many players' first experience with the series. And yet some argue that Sega is entitled to good sales of the Yakuza 3 localization, crazy!

If they were going to cut costs, they should either have released it at a lower price or polled fans to figure out what the popular features were. That's a no brainer.
The FFXIII argument doesn't make any sense. Stop it.
This. We are talking about two different kinds of cutting here.
If they were going to cut costs, they should either have released it at a lower price or polled fans to figure out what the popular features were. That's a no brainer.
Not sure about releasing it at a lower price point, but a poll might have been decent way to gauge interest in features.

Why poll when there are two text/dialog heavy parts of the game that are side things to do and don't impact the main part of the game.

I don't think they're handling the situation well, but I certainly understand why they cuts those parts of the game out.

Considering the sales of the first two Yakuza games, I'm happy that they're releasing the title at all.
So you work for Sega now too?
DOK. You know very well that Mana Knight doesn't work at Sega. I DO. Mana Knight works at Best Buy as a Sony employee. He's also the black guy on THE TESTER.
Say goodbye to ever playing Yakuza 4 if many do the same thing as you. I want Yakuza 4 so I will buy. I doubt Sega will ever let another publisher touch Yakuza.
That's just boogeyman tactics to generate interest/get people to buy the game. I have no doubt in my mind Yakuza 4 will come over, even if Yakuza 3 sells like balls. How many copies did Yakuza 1 & 2 combined sell? 12? Yet they still bring over Yakuza 3 which probably costs a lot more to release here, which also isn't going to sell anything.

I'll still be getting Yakuza 3, but months down the line. There's too many other games coming out that get priority. Hopefully by then it's cheaper too.

From what I've been hearing else where its more like 75% cut, if your losing 5 trophies (which I will find out which ones in a minute) worth of content out of 50 thats 10% of the content cut already and thats a fair percentage idk if they were gold silver or bronze I will post in a minute.

Me too... it's not because of the things they removed but it just sounds like SEGA might do more damage to the game before it's released and there's too many other games I need to play.

I disagree, Sega was fairly reticent to bring the game stateside, which accounts for the time delay between the Japanese and American releases.

so as far as cut content will be determained I think its fair to say that based on the Trophy system (Bronze=15,S=30,G=90,P=180) if 5 trophies were cut that thats a confirmed 10% worth of content regardless if they were Silv/Gold, if any of them were silver that would mean 4% worth each and a gold would be 12% per trophy(Bronze is 2% per trophy).

I am still trying to see which ones were cut because that should answer many of our questions.

Firm Player Bronze
Won a game of shogi (Japanese chess) without ever moving the King.

Sunbathing Dragon Bronze
You called at Mahjohng whilst still waiting for the horse

Fat arm Bronze
You spent over 300,000 yen in a Cabaret in one go.

Good Coordinator Bronze
You coordinated the girls well in the Kabatsuku

Este-mania Bronze
Played the 2 Este modes.

This should be a confirmed 10% However there is more stuff based on what I saw in the trophies.
I'm personally glad they took out the mahjohng/shogi trophies.
I think we are both in agreement for that, however I would have liked the opportunity to learn how to play them in the game. (NO I don't want to find out online)

They are in Yakuza 2 and you're forced to play them or pay a lot of money to get what you need to advance in the story. Would have been better if they weren't there.

If you really want to then go play Yakuza 2 and learn. If you don't care enough to do that then you really don't care about it.

I was going to say... This sounded like the content was cut for timing issues.

Mainly because what was taken/cut was stuff that would take a lot of time and resources (to an upper management view point) to get done.

It is all business when it comes to content being cut these days.

*pops in Yakuza 2* I'm going to play it right now however you must stop trolling around my thread.
yup, they left it in Yakuza 2 I think.
I'm actually playing through Yakuza 2 right now. I love how many mini-games there are. I'm at the part where you have to get some information from some informant in the mahjong parlor. I have put about 30-60 minutes into mahjong. I have been losing, but I like it, so I'd rather have the option of playing it in Yakuza 3.

I don't understand how the executives at Sega think two weeks from now is an opportune release date. From my perspective it looks like they are rushing Yakuza 3 to retail only for it to get slaughtered by all of the big name releases. Sure Yakuza 3 isn't going to sell well regardless of its release date, but I would imagine that it would sell even less than normal when released next to these other big games.

Good thing they rushed it! Didn't want to miss the freaking FINAL FANTASY XIII LAUNCH DAY, SEGA!!!

After re-reading all these posts, I think maybe I will delay buying Yakuza 3. This game is coming out at the wrong time. MLB '10: The Show, Final Fantasy XIII and God Of War 3 are coming out on consecutive weeks and I haven't even opened BioShock 2 yet. Why buy a game that I might not open for weeks?
Paco don't act like you didn't take down that Signiture with Yakuza 3 and Final Fantasy 13! I remember that, I don't see it now though!
I don't know what happened to it. The link to the picture is still there, but some mod made it so I can't have it as a direct link to my pic anymore. It's happened before with the girl sitting on some guys face signature that I had.

You guys are retarded if you're contemplating content removed by the trophy difference. Absolutely retarded. What is wrong with you? Who has been slipping you the stupid pills all your life? As far as I am concerned, Yakuza 3 is the 2010 equivalent of Demon's Souls. A fantastic PS3 exclusive that took an undeservedly long time to make it to our shores.

The only reason this fantastic series hasn't done better is because of blatant xenophobia and that xenophobia is the likely culprit as to why this content was removed. There are hundreds of thousands of gamers out there that would straight up turn off the game if they had to learn and answer Japanese trivia. There are tens of thousands of others who would turn off the game just by seeing the mahjong in the game. This isn't an unreasonable estimate either.

In fact. I'm happy that the Mahjong has been taken out of the game. I've played enough Mahjong in Clubhouse Games.

I'm buying this game for a kick-ass fighting system and a mature storyline. And there are those of you not buying the game because the lack of Mahjong. Once again, who has been feeding you the stupid pills all your life? You guys are acting like we're getting SNES version of Mortal Kombat 2 or something.

Its so uncool to say the R-word nowadays, it shows your true nature. If you actually read the posts you'd see why we are upset. If you like being called an idiot then please support Sega, no one is disagreeing that Yakuza 3 is a good game, but if you got your facts straight you'd know the situation at hand. Thanks for adding nothing to this discussion (Tool why don't you edit your post a few more times.)

And what is my true nature? I think you've made the make the mistake of thinking that I would prefer to be cool instead of honest. Bristol, is that you? I think you better go and change Trig's diapers.

Fact is, I don't care if a bunch of knuckledraggers call me an idiot because they're the ones who can't see beyond the outrage. It doesn't change the fact that you people are morons. All 140 of you.

A simple question. What if removing the content makes for a better gaming experience for Western gamers? This isn't aimed at you Phantasyx. Go away. You've already proven yourself to be incapable of intelligent discourse.

lol here is your true nature, and I'm guessing many more will make fun of you: Name calling will only get your opinions and comments ignored, the fact of you like to call people a Retard shows you have no respect for human life, and the fact that you have to edit your posts shows you aren't even confident of what your saying (your a fake + tool).

What is so difficult to understand about people delaying buying a game because content was cut? You're going to come in and throw around some generalities as insults instead of backing your statements with a reasoned statement? Understand that capitalism works when people complain, the idea of shutting up and getting in line tends to look rather apologist.

My reasoned statement is that you guys are being idiots. I've read the posts in the threads. I've reasoned them out. And this is the statement I've come up with. You guys are idiots.

Are you complaining because you're not getting content that you weren't even going to like? Is that what you're complaining about? It's like whining, "But mom! That kid got a shit taco! Why can't I get a shit taco too?!"

You don't like Mahjong! Why do you want it?!

Learn to punctuate.

Retard.

We've moved way past logic and reason here... now it's just a complete C.F.
I tried to get through, but it's impossible to talk with people that can't put their irrational feelings aside.

At least I can write in proper English. Unfortunately your mother failed you on that front.

Maybe that's why you're wishing you were in Tokyo (in spirit). At least there no one could see you for the half-brain you are. Excuse me. I meant retard. I think at this point you're just relishing in your stupidity. Hahaha.

Something should happen Monday, while I never advised anyone to cancel there pre-order, pre-orders are rumored to be down 75% Sega has to be shaking in there boots

Yep. I like to edit any additional thoughts I may have instead of adding 5 new posts.

I mean you're so dumb you have to state the obvious as a form of an insult.

What's wrong with editing in thoughts, retard? At least I know what I mean to say and elaborate on it. You're always stupid, not matter how much editing you do.

Well, since we're looking at less than 2 weeks away from the NA release date, it's probably safe to assume that it's too late to get the content on the disc--right?

So all you can really hope for is DLC at this rate.

You are again responding in generalities. When you play gta you enjoy being an american gangster. You do what american gansters do, when I play a japanese gangster I want to do what they do. It's the reason people play immerse games. You fail because you have no logic. You just come in say we're stupid and don't back it up. Oh and then you go and attack grammar, on the internet! With the kids these days having no concept of the language you're going to use things like spelling to attack your peers and call them idiots, while having done nothing to develop this respect you seem to think you deserve. Learn to make a reasoned argument, who the fuck taught you english? Because they did not teach you to make an argument.

There will be additional DLC like there was for the Japanese versions. Unless this game sells like shit.

Because most videogame players DO NOT want to immerse themselves into a foreign country. They do not want to challenge themselves. They want to have fun. You're speaking from the perspective of a niche player, not a mainstream player.

Learn to read. From my first post.

There are hundreds of thousands of gamers out there that would straight up turn off the game if they had to learn and answer Japanese trivia. There are tens of thousands of others who would turn off the game just by seeing the mahjong in the game.

I know people like this. I've known people who've have hated Bioshock because you couldn't play as a marine in the game. There is a reason MW2 sold more than better games like Uncharted 2.

Sega's mistake was admitting anything had been removed at all. When you aim at niche gamers, you're far more likely to encounter snobbery on their part than mainstream gamers.

Seriously no one was asking you.

The content is most likely still on the disc, a dlc patch would essentially unlock it. Answer X answer, if anyone has played it like me it is not even translatable.
