I wonder if my two MO attorney general complaints had anything to do with it? I'm sure it was just likely bad sales though.

What caused you to file complaints with your state's attorney general?
 
Traded in my last copy of X Blades for $18 ($21.60 with trade bonus for Halo ODST). Guy threw in the Sgt. Johnson code too. So far, I've had nothing but nice experiences with this chain unlike GS.
 
Wish there was more of a posted list of TIV on games here because I don't have an I-phone.. Every time I call the local store they say they are busy or "bring the games in we will be happy to give you a Quote" ;)

Any BTW as far as that MVP card goes I got the info from the main page that says its $9.99 but as far as money off on games and exclusive MVP offers is there anything else to it just simply because I have a few GC around but they are a bit of a drive and I dont go to often.

10% boost to trade-ins and 10% off used games, 10% boost doesn't always stack with promotions. They run promos with 20 and even 30% off exclusively for MVP members as well. You also get five free disc buffs a year. If you're a regular customer I'm sure you'll get more than that.
 
I didn't see this in the FAQ: is there an easy way to look up how much they sell used games for? Their website is very unintuitive. . .

//edit: Your guys constant feedback does make a difference and i'm 95% sure that this thread has gotten the attention of a few higher up guys in the company. MVP now stacks with promos on new release games, for the most part. It did for Madden and it also does for Halo 3 ODST.. if you trade in anything towards the purchase of ODST, you get 20% extra.. if you're an MVP, you get 30% extra.

My personal experiences with GameCrazy have been great. Considering I've had to clear out a lot of old stuff from my room lately, I've been there a lot to trade-in games and the employees have been consistently helpful and genial, a combination not often found.

Here's an idea: how about listing how much they charge for new and used games on the website? It's laughable how worthless their site is for anything other than finding stores and even that they steal from Google. What a joke.

There's no online store. That's why the site doesn't list new/used game prices. The only time something is listed on the site is if its on sale. If you want, I'll look up stuff for you, not a problem.

I've been trying to move $100 of credit from GC to anywhere (with a near 1:1 or better ratio) for a couple weeks now and it's so annoying not being able to look up stock or pricing like GS has. That and they've failed to have any of the used games I'm looking for to move the credit with, even L4D!

Just overall not impressed with the company compared to the convenience I've experienced everywhere else.

Not sure what you're looking for and I can't filter searches like that. The only LE's I know of that are regularly in stock available for cheap are Assassin's Creed ($29.99), Soul Calibur 4 (39.99), Smackdown vs Raw 09 PS3 (29.99).. and.. um.. that's all I can think of right now.

I wouldn't blame GC for not having a used game that you want. I would blame the customers. It's kinda hard for them to get a used game when no one is trading it in.

GC generally has the same prices on used games as GS, just a dollar or two less than GS charges.

No, I get that. It's just frustrating because every time I think about buying a game coming out with my credit, I just remember that Amazon has it for $10 cheaper after ECA and I pay no tax/shipping.

I may call them about an AC LE on PS3, though. I wouldn't mind swapping my 360 version out for one.
 
But there are notable exceptions and it would be nice to be able to find them without having to browse in store or ask you about it, Scorch.

For example, Phantasy Star Universe is $19.99 used at GS, but only $8.99 used at GC. It was an Amazon trade-in deal of the day a few days back for $22 which would have made it a good game to transfer GC credit with. Unfortunately the only store in my area to have it had 2 disc-only copies. But the only reason I had any idea to even check for it was because another CAG posted that price. Then I was able to ask at my closest store for them to check stock at other stores (so at least you can do that).

But then again I fully understand them not having as complete a system as Gamestop given that they do not have an online store. Yet if they are able to put a nearly complete trade-in value database online (via the iPhone app) you'd think they could just add the used game sales prices in there as well. But perhaps they don't want people comparing what they give vs what they sell it for so as not to piss them off. Not that their trade-in values are bad relative to their sale prices (esp. compared to GS), but people just tend to react negatively when they see the sale price even a reasonable 2x the trade-in price (without thinking of the overhead, future price drops, etc).

Prime example of what I'm talking about. My store had none either and the next closest was 25 miles away. Used to have one
 
Not to pile on but I do have a small issue with their 7 day return policy. I had decided my backlog was too long and wanted to return a game I bought a couple Saturday's ago. I came back in on the 8th day and not knowing the 7 day policy at the time, they wouldn't take it back.

Yes, I'm now aware of the 7 day policy now, but what store has a 7 day return policy on new/unopened stuff? I give games as gifts all the time and if the receipient decides they want something else and it's past 7 days, we're sort of hosed.

Other than that, GC has been ok to me but they're definitely not my first choice. They need to up their promos and used stock if they want to compete with GS.
 
Does gamecrazy have a coupon on new items?

I have a 20% off used that has no expiration date and a 10% off accessories that has no exp, but is there a 'new item' coupon out there?

They have a feedback link on the website, you should complain and point out the difference between them and gamestop.

I was told by the DM last week that the website is currently being overhauled and the new site should be up before year end, he also then started promoting a new value added version of MVP, which is retarded. They are going to TRY and cross promote the coupon book concept (same as FYE) for a monthly fee.

God I hope GC doesn't follow BBV's retarded policy of trying to sell everything to everyone.
 
oh god, don't get me started on the mvp plus program. i'm strongly against it and i hate the idea. my rant could last for days.

I made a more in-depth post in the St. Louis thread in the Midwest region forum, but yeah the Fenton, MO GC/HWV was shut down on Friday. And none of those 3 spots left are anywhere near me or any of my friends.

You know this has been one of my most long standing fears, that the GC where I have about 500$ in credit at shuts down. What would happen to all that credit, it's currently all assigned to preorders, which I keep rolling over to new products, mainly because I can buy the same game somewhere else for cheaper. I did this just yesterday with ODST, I just couldn't resist the TRU deal. I can typically get GC to price match 5-10$ in difference with little or no effort, but I just didn't want to make the GC manager eat 20$. I was buying stuff to sell on ebay a while back, but it's with ebay/paypal fees it's harder to find things that sell easily. And no 1/1 flip opportunities exist to move credit to amazon/gs.

Maybe a giftcard with 100-200 dollars on it would be a good idea, but I hate to take money out of that store as that will most likely accelerate it closing...

L4D used was pretty close when it was $21.25 TIV to Amazon. If you can find three copies of the GOTY version (fat chance) then it's near 1:1. I was trying to find Disgaea used on PSP yesterday since it was a great opportunity to flip, but once again they didn't have any.

So the opportunities have been out there, but GC just isn't getting trades.

I don't think I'm at liberty to fully discuss MVP+, but since it's been brought up.. think of the XBox Live platinum cards but with better discounts and benefits. Something to the tune of $12 a month, I think.
 
They were telling me about it when I signed up for my regular MVP. Somewhere from $10-20 a month and you'd get 4 free movie tickets, free coupons to various fast food restaurants locally, and that type of thing. I wouldn't pay cash for it, but if you had credit to burn it might be a decent deal depending on the final product.
 
I used that tellgamecrazy website a couple weeks ago to give them feedback regarding the MVP program. It seems as if they've upped their game recently, so I hope they keep it going.

I'd be interested in that plus card as long as I can use my credit and I don't have to subscribe for a set period of time.

It is to a certain extent - they can promote their trade-in program and have more trade-in deals to compete with GS.

They've been horrible about both in the past. There's the whole "do they or don't they" price match issue. While they have this "guarantee" of trade-in values that has been very spotty in practical application. Some clerks will tell me that just means they generally have better prices, but there's no way they can adjust things. Others, of course, will do actual price matches, though they have different rules about what stores they PM (most do GS, for example, but some exclude Blockbuster). Some add 5% on top, some add MVP, etc - it is all very inconsistent. They need to communicate with store managers/employees and get them all on the same page.

They have taken some positive steps recently though. The iPhone app has led me (and many others here even if they don't have an iPhone) to trade more stuff to GC because it is easy to compare prices now with GS. I had always thought GC was on par with GS or even worse in a lot of cases in terms of trade-in values. Couple that with their lack of deals and GS was always my choice for trade-ins. With the app, though, I've diverted several games to GC instead after finding out they had some pretty good prices for a wide variety of games.

As for the trade-in promos, they've had a few recently (like the $5 extra for $15 or more worth of trades). The problem once again is promotion - the casual shopper would have never known about that deal at any of the stores I went to for the 2 weeks that it ran. I'm pretty sure I was the only person to take advantage of it at a few of those stores given that I had to explain it to just about every clerk I dealt with (6 or 7 times in total).

they lied to you/didn't check the price then. it's 9.99 in the pos.. looking at it right now. prices in the pos are universal.

plus there's already been loads of people to get an sp for 9.99. they posted about it in my clearance sale thread.
