:360::ps3: $20 off Red Dead Redemption
:ds: $15 off Dragon Quest IX: Sentinals of the Starry Skies
:psp: $20 off Metal Gear Solid Peacewalker

:360::ps3: $20 off Final Fantasy XIII
:wii: $15 off Metroid: Other M

In order to use these, you have to purchase the book @ $5.99, and be a Reward Zone Gamer's Club member (free). All coupons should be working correctly now.
got my copy today for $11 +. Pretty weird the CSR didn't know about the magazine, she thought it was free. I consider not telling her, but my natural honesty check in.

Its crazy my store had about 35+ copies with the preorder bonus, guess the game isn't selling in my area.
Wow...I've been to like 4 Best Buys in the past 3 days and 2 were sold out, one had like 3 copies and the last store had like 6 copies. There is a chance that there's a stack of them in the back, but who knows when employees don't stock the floor and are too lazy to check for customers.
If you buy the magazine and return it is it no different than just ripping out the SC coupon and pocketing it yourself?
Considering the magazine has all the value of toilet paper without being as cheap as a roll of it, I'd say no. But from a moral standpoint, then yes it is objectionable morally, but again see above.

I still have my complimentary copy of the first issue they sent me in the mail last month sitting here. I flipped through it once, read a couple of the articles and it's sat here collecting dust since then.

Maybe if I could roll it up tight enough I could get a good second use out of it as a fly swatter, but as a magazine it's deplorable.

Oh and for anybody that can't find this magazine at a local BB and just only want this one copy w/o a subscription, feel free to shoot me a PM if you're interested in paying for the shipping. Not sure how much it is to ship this out but I'm guessing $4 - $6 for the whole mag. I can refund the difference should there be any difference.

Got this in the mail over the weekend. All coupons are still here. Good till 10/2/10. None of these interest me.

Or then again, if you only want my coupons we can do it the easy way and I can just mail out the page of coupons for the cost of letter postage.

Same deal as always, if you're a lurker that doesn't contribute, then don't bother to ask. Lurkers get jack from me. :hot:

Oh I agree with you this magazine sucks to read. Only thing is in the value of the coupons but even then nothing has seemed worth the trouble thus far save for maybe SC: Conviction.
That's weird that the sale price on SC:C ended on a Sunday instead of Saturday night. It's back up to $39.99 on the website.
I've never seen this happen a sale end on Sunday night either. But someone did mention it would end tonight...and sure enough it did...

Blah, they still had the expired coupons when I asked there today. The two I asked initially near the checkouts/coolers with pop didn't know wtf I was talking about, then one of them asked a third coworker passing by, and that guy pointed up front where I was trying to direct them to all along. I actually had to tell the main guy "no, you guys make it" when he walked me over to the video game magazine section with EGM and the likes. Almost none of them knew about the mag, and the main dude who never heard of it and worked by the old issues was a cashier. His register contained the old stock of them. Fail.

So he opens it up and I had to explain it's the old issue by showing him the expiration dates on the July coupons there. They had like 8-10 of the old issues left, no new ones. I paid the $20 and asked if it'd be okay if I got an adjustment later with the receipt and coupon-to-be (just to make sure) since the coupon was valid today, and he said yes. I'll just walk back in for my $15 redemption when I find a mag.

They were all nice and professional about it, but again, fail.
Lol so you didn't even have to pay for the magazine good job.
there is no way in hell i'd pay for the garbage magazine....which is why we all need to work together and just post pdf of the coupon's bar code (how am i the first to come up with this?)!!

exactly my point from the begining of this thread!

So you don't want to buy the magazine, yet you want someone else to go out, buy it, scan the coupons and make them into a pdf for you?
...
Yeah, that makes total sense .

To be honest, that isn't a fail-proof scheme. A lot of cashiers will be aware of the magazine (mine wasn't), and unless you spend extra effort/money on the "project" to make a glossier and more legit print, it'll be obvious you're performing what is more or less coupon fraud to them. Since the coupons are almost supposed to cost money to obtain, either through subscription or one-time purchase, in their eyes it wouldn't go over well...assuming you have a halfway intelligent cashier who's as aware of the mag/coupons as us.

Yay, everyone's favorite coupon beggar is back!

If it's such a great idea, why don't you go out, buy the mag, and scan the first one to post? Or do you want this to be like Blur where even though you had 4 coupons in your hand you wanted someone else to do all the work?

(not to mention all of the fraud aspects of what you're proposing)

hey idk if anyone has tryed this but Splinter Cell Conviction is on sale for $20 at BB this week, can i use that 15$ off @gamer coupon and get it for $5?

Really?

I would definitely get the magazine if I could count on every magazine having as great coupons as this one (and let's be honest, the magazine coupons so far have been as good if not better than most of the free ones were) and the first one. But I recall the first issue saying all of them would have at least some amount of coupon savings that was a lot lower than what we got.

So I think I'll take my chances and just buy the mags when there's something I want. If I buy 3 or fewer in the next year, it'll be cheaper. Also the chance that a friend of mine in the area will want different stuff than I do and I can sell him the mag for cheap afterwards to recoup some of the cost.
Well, I kind of hoardo'd out today. I picked up 7 of 17(!) SCCs at the Mount Juliet Best Buy. I had eight coupons printed out, and I was planning on getting them a bit spread out among a few different Best Buys. But the cashier was really nice to me and let me do all eight, so I let her keep one of the coupons and games for herself. :D
Bro, next time hook me up with a scan IMOTBHFYI.

I gave someone the sku on the dragon quest coupon and he said it worked fine. So, if someone still has the coupons they can just post the sku of all the coupons and people wouldn't have to buy the magazines (although some bestbuys require a coupon, but it's worth a shot). :D i can't do it because I'm at college and don't have coupons with me.

Edit: ( almost forgot ) got splinter cell for $5, was marked at 39.99 in store, but rang up 19.99 (as marked online) and coupon scanned in, no override needed.

Hey, just play it off like it was one of those texted coupon codes and they'll be none the wiser. I never thought just the coupon code would work, so I know what I'm doing next time!

yep, sku is printed on the back of all of them (kinda small print).

hopefully we can get someone to post the sku's each time. until best buy catches on at least.

Ummm -- listen, it's one thing to bring in a legitimate Halo card that TRU doesn't know about and get the $10 off multiple Xbox games (since the coupon was initially a multi-use coupon).

It's quite another thing to just flat-out start lying about a "text" coupon that doesn't exist. That's not just lying, that coupon fraud. If you happen to get a cashier who is informed or one that calls the manager, you could get in trouble.

Now, is that likely? Not really. Is it possible? Definitely.

IMHO, flat-out lying (aka coupon fraud) isn't worth it for a videogame.

Not preaching, but I really don't think CAG should be encouraging ppl to find ways to cheat the system.

This community is about finding lawful ways to save $$$ on videogames; not lie or cheat others to get them.
Hey, if they allow it, I see that as a legal transaction. I have never and will never pay for a coupon.
You're not paying for a coupon. You're paying for a magazine that just happens to have some good coupons in it. There's a difference! :applause:
You know if you guys just stole video games it would be completely free.
Really? No way! Are you quite sure? You mean to tell me games CAN be acquired for free? I'll have to look into this. Thanks for the insight, if only we had more people with such edifying suggestions.

I just received a complimentary issue the other day. Now to debate if I'll actually use any of the coupons. Maybe I might pick up DQ IX for $20 since that sounds about right.

For the trolls that call this coupon fraud please simmer down now and get to bed it's past your bedtime.....LOL coupon fraud, alls we're trying to do is simply print the coupons to avoid the worst "magazine" in gaming history so if someone can do this then cool if not then remember the saying...if ain't got nothing nice to say then......

i didn't say anything about lying. I just said to ask if it is fine to use the code without the physical coupon (which is a common practice at bestbuy); and if it is fine with them, save money on buying the magazine.

there is no need to be deceitful, roaming from bestbuy to bestbuy waiting until someone foolish enough to fall for such diabolical treachery falls pray to the masterplan MUAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAH!!!!!!!!.

I flipped through this second issue of Gamer Magazine and was surprised they finally gave one negative review. Granted, 2.5 is merely a C... and they gave it to a quick turnaround, coattail-riding video game based on a movie that no one expects to be good anyway.

Some of the "what's not so great" in the reviews section are still laughably awful: "Even with a total of 12 hours of gameplay (single-player and co-op), I still wanted more!"

And now I have to wonder if the "Letter to the editor" section even has letters from real people. One person who read the first issue said he was worried that the reviews of a store-sponsored magazine would be biased but he didn't see that to be the case.

i got a free complimentary issue today in the mail for being in the reward zone gamers club. came with the coupons too, so that was nice.

If anyone is interested, Gamer Magazine sure jacked up their brutal criticism of games with this second issue:

Madden NFL 11: "The excitement around kickoff and punt returns has been muted."

Mafia II: "Vito becomes a little too reckless in some of his missions."

Lara Croft: Guardian of Light: "Even with a total of 12 hours of gameplay (single-player and co-op), I still wanted more!"

Starcraft II: "12 years... really?"

Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep: "Maybe too many cut-scenes for gamers who just want to kill things."

Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days: "We don't get enough of Lynch's brain-damaged benders."

I'm not sure what the reason is, except I remember the same thing happened with Super Monkey Ball.

of course they jack the price up on splinter cell when i get the free gamer issue. i would have paid for a $5 splinter cell even if i already played it and didnt really like it.

Same here and I don't even have a xbox.

Me too! Not super impressed with the magazine overall, but it was free. It kind of reminds me of EB Games' old magazine GMR.

since these coupons are good til october i hope we get to see another deal like the splinter cell one this past week. maybe it will drop again by the end of the month?

Splinter Cell: Conviction is a superb game -- loved it! Aside from Bayonetta, one of the best action games on the 360, hands down.

I'd love to see Red Dead Redemption for $29.99 :) heck, even $39.99 ...

May be Other M will go on sale for 39.99 ...

I just got a free issue yesterday. It's not too bad but I can't see myself spending $20 a year on it. If I see consistently good coupons(like MGS:peacewalker and Metroid), I'll subscribe.

I picked up an copy of the magazine after class today for the Metroid and Peacewalker coupons only to get home and find a free copy of it sitting in my mailbox. Anybody know if BB's return policy covers magazines?

I would assume you couldn't return it but I can't say from experience. If you want to try I would bring both magazines and the letter that came with the magazine in the mail and try to explain it. We weren't exactly warned that we were getting a copy in the mail so they may be reasonable and let you.
