You're a classy guy.I ran into my buddy Plato last night at the bar and I asked him if Kickstarters were deals. He said " no."
Then I saw my buddy Oedipus across the street and yelled, "What's up motherer!"

The Oedipus one is a classic.I ran into my buddy Plato last night at the bar and I asked him if Kickstarters were deals. He said " no."

Jesus, Ghandi and MLK do not give up on you. They will convince you that kickstarters are in fact deals. Hell, mbrown will channel the voices of the Dalai Lama, Buddha, and God if he has to. And if that doesn't work he might even channel the voice of George Carlin.I give up.
Oh, it's part of the Flyers logo! This is all starting to make sense now...I think after this exchange, cheapy is gonna regret he ever even responded to this guy.
Also, on behalf of flyers fans everywhere, we apologize.
Yup. Coincidentally I'm wearing a flyers Jersey right now.Oh, it's part of the Flyers logo! This is all starting to make sense now...
And I'm not wearing my Penguins jersey!Yup. Coincidentally I'm wearing a flyers Jersey right now.
Ugh. I guess every team has its share of homers.Yup. Coincidentally I'm wearing a flyers Jersey right now.
I know right? But we get to count MLK, gandhi and jesus amongst our supporters so we got that going for us.Ugh. I guess every team has its share of homers.
True enough.I know right? But we get to count MLK, gandhi and jesus amongst our supporters so we got that going for us.
Go Flyers!
No, I'm just a fan of logic. If most of the nonsense on the deal thread now is considered a "deal", then why wouldn't Kickstarter? Again, it fits the technical definition of "deal" as well as the colloquial "discount" usage. Some people are mad because the whole idea of PRE-paying for a discount offends their sensibilities. Not sure why that requires getting angry...maybe you can answer that.At this point I don't think even mbrown believes the horseshit spewing out of his mouth. This kickstarter being a deal crap is just a practical joke, but now he's taken it too far to back out. Either that or he is the most delusional person on the planet. Both are strong possibilities.
If this is a deal, can you make a post about it on the main page?Okay it's a deal. Happy? Doesn't change the fact that we still do not want it on the main deals page. Look at the poll results, Jesus Christ.
Lots of people also listen to Justin Bieber. That doesn't make it right.Okay it's a deal. Happy? Doesn't change the fact that we still do not want it on the main deals page. Look at the poll results, Jesus Christ.
I think the real losers are the ones watching hockey.Wednesday night, baby. Cheesesteaks and beer and a Flyers win over the Bruins. Plus Thursday I get to watch Shittsburgh and Cindy Crysby lose to Anaheim. Should be a good week.

Is there no limit to your arrogance?Lots of people also listen to Justin Bieber. That doesn't make it right.
Actually it has nothing to do with whether I think it's right. I'm only advocating the LOGIC of including them on the deals page. I don't even personally care all that much whether they are on the MAIN page or not. A sub-forum makes sense to me. I'm saying that what the majority wants/likes is not indicative of whether or not something is right. The same applies to me. Whether I think something is right or not is not the issue. But at least have logical reasons for what you want. I realize that's a lot to ask.Is there no limit to your arrogance?
So now your argument has escalated to, "we should add it to the main deals page because mrbrown think it is 'right', even though most people don't want it"?
Let me further step back, assuming your logic is logical, what do you hope to gain in this? Everybody agreeing with you? What does that even achieve?Actually it has nothing to do with whether I think it's right. I'm only advocating the LOGIC of including them on the deals page. don't give up, who else is going to stand up for the right of the potato saladI give up.
I don't hope to gain anything. I was asked (by the thread OP) to answer a question. I have proceeded to do exactly that.Let me further step back, assuming your logic is logical, what do you hope to gain in this? Everybody agreeing with you? What does that even achieve?
And I am also a fan of logic, and no I do not approve of your logic at all. Neither do most of us. And I said this before, you can argue with us until hell freezes over and you still won't be able to convince us. If you think you are right then fine, we think you are speaking nonsense. And obviously you cannot accept that, and just have to go out of your way to bend our opinions.
We have logical reasons that we have stated over and over, we don't want it ("it" being a deal or not, most think not but you think yes) on the main deals page, it's clutter.
I don't think comparing one's self to Jesus and Kickstarter to Native American land purchases has anything to do with logic (or vice versa). But I also don't see where anyone has made such comparisons.I'm pretty sure you could pick any disagreeing post in this thread and it would have more logic than comparing yourself to Jesus and Kickstarter to Native American land purchases. Potato salad has more logic than that!
This would be true if the question has been directed to CheapyD, since he owns the site. The question was asked BY CheapyD. It is not logical for me to consider traffic as a factor. I gave input on whether it makes sense (to me) to allow Kickstarters on the deals page, and (again, to me) logically, it does. The logical choice to this question is the one the majority chooses, because a website survives off user traffic, not someone's perceived ruling on what is/isn't a deal in this context. It would be stupid for Cheapy to go against what most of the people visiting the forums want, as that's basically giving the middle finger to the majority of regulars that keep the site running.
But I don't know why I'm bothering anymore. I told myself to stop. I'm mad at myself now for bothering to make this post.
Again, the number of people agreeing or disagreeing with something has no bearing on whether it is right (or wrong) or not. Ontological truth exists outside of our willingness to acknowledge it. It is, quite literally, the exact opposite of the definition of insanity. You would think that when one person is arguing a point that only they see against a dozen others, they'd wake up and realize they're wrong. I'm pretty sure this is the literal definition of insanity.
When you're talking about morals and ethics, what you said is true. When you're talking about published definitions and something that isn't opinion, then no, you're wrong. Also, when you keep arguing with people and referring to yourself as some kind of Native American GhandiMLKJesus, then you are batshit ing crazy.Again, the number of people agreeing or disagreeing with something has no bearing on whether it is right (or wrong) or not. "When you're talking about published definitions and something that isn't opinion, then no, you're wrong." This is true. And the published definition of "deal" is available for anyone to read. So I'm not sure what the issue is here. And I have never...not once...referred to myself as Ghandi, MLK, Jesus, or Native American. Reading is hard. When you're talking about morals and ethics, what you said is true. When you're talking about published definitions and something that isn't opinion, then no, you're wrong. But I'm not going to sit here and argue with you. Look at the poll results and if you really, truly can't realize that you're wrong, then I feel sorry for you. I'm not sure if you're expecting to wake up one day and all of a sudden everyone is just going to agree with you because you beat them into submission with your nonsense...but this is the Internet and that's not going to happen.
Who the hell cares? Cheapy asked the question, he got the results, nothing more needs to be said. You had your say and vote, everyone thinks your an idiot, and now we are going to continue not posting Kickstarters on the main page because you're the only one that cares. This would be true if the question has been directed to CheapyD, since he owns the site. Well, I always thought it was a forum about video game poker, but it is hard to tell the purpose of a forum by its title alone."When you're talking about published definitions and something that isn't opinion, then no, you're wrong." This is true. And the published definition of "deal" is available for anyone to read. So I'm not sure what the issue is here.
You're right about that.can't argue with an insane person.
And yet you continue to talk about it. The best part: "...everyone thinks your an idiot." Irony of ironies.Who the hell cares? Cheapy asked the question, he got the results, nothing more needs to be said. You had your say and vote, everyone thinks your an idiot, and now we are going to continue not posting Kickstarters on the main page because you're the only one that cares.
Preventing Kickstarters will not solve it, But it sure will prevent more clutter. The first step in stopping an outbreak is to contain it and prevent it from spreading and getting worse. The clutter argument is valid. However, it becomes a bit hypocritical given all of the other stuff cluttering up the thread. And, as I have already asked, what makes Kickstarters any different than all of that? If clutter is that much of a problem, then preventing Kickstarters is not going to solve it.
Fair enough.Preventing Kickstarters will not solve it, But it sure will prevent more clutter. The first step in stopping an outbreak is to contain it and prevent it from spreading and getting worse.
Because popular opinion is not > logic except by very intentional choice. So given the ~80% consensus over the course of the week not to allow Kickstarters in the deals forum, why isn't this a rule yet? I don't think mbrown3 is going to find enough backers to fund a turnaround here.
"Being asked for a handout is not a deal." There you go, Spock.Because popular opinion is not > logic except by very intentional choice.
Also, 80% is, by definition, not "consensus".
80% is the majority, but since you've been at it for the past week I don't see you stopping now.Because popular opinion is not > logic except by very intentional choice.
Also, 80% is, by definition, not "consensus".
You keep going on and on about logic. Why is only your "logic" valid and nobody else's is? Stop felating yourself and assuming you somehow know better than 80% of the people here because of some ridiculous rationalization that nobody else accepts. I don't even know what you're hoping to achieve at this point besides putting yourself further down the list of ridiculous people who should never be responded to on this site.Because popular opinion is not > logic except by very intentional choice.
Also, 80% is, by definition, not "consensus".
Not sure what your point is."Being asked for a handout is not a deal." There you go, Spock.
