SOCOM: Confrontation *General Discussion Thread*

This game is fucking awesome. I played it for about 2 hours today and I can't get enough. I haven't played since SOCOM 1 on PS2, and its great to see they have levels from that game still in this one. All in HD!

I was actually in the BETA and it ran super buggy and slow. This full version runs so much better.

I work until midnight eastern time on Saturday, but I should be available any time on Sunday if there's a game this weekend.
 
WTF is wrong with my headset?
I charged it for a few hours and took it out of the dock to try it. Plugged one end into the USB slot and the other end into the PS3. The red ring around the mic button flashed once. Now it wont even turn on, with USB cable connect or not.

Edit: Got it working after I plug it back into the dock.

Kind of explains why there are no trophies yet). Early on it may be annoying, but after a while things will be fine and people will be playing for a long time.

Sunday IMO would be best because Saturday will be Resistance 2 night (due to requests from many) down the road, but either day is fine for now. I really want to see SOCOM Confrontation become a regular game night. :D
 
well after 45 min of tryin to log on im in but now i think sonys daylight saving thing is off i dunno

well after 1 round the game froze up my ps3

I am having a lot of fun with this game and had no problems last night.
 
have the connections/logging into games been worked out yet? Is the game more like socom 1 or 2. I loved the first one but I wasn't a big fan of the 2nd one

I just checked my PS3 and I still have a Friends Request Pending for you, smiggity. I need you to accept it as I sent you the request. I look forward to playing with the CAG Clan - hopefully someone can give me lessons as I am not very good at the game.
I have discovered that I much prefer non-respawning rooms - much more tactical, less run n'gun and spray.

I like to be added....anyone who plays late nights (i.e. 10:30PM CST and later) feel free to send me a friend request since I've been trying out SOCOM pretty much every night since launch.
 
Any thoughts on the Official Sony Headset vs. non-official ones? I'm using a Plantronics 510 with my PS3 right now and it's fine, but I'm wondering if the official one is any better.

I really enjoy the quality, but i don't know the quality of the one you have currently so i don't know if its a step up from yours. I do like the status bar on the ps3 screen saying if its muted, and also the battery life indicator.
 
Yeah compared to the BT125 (warhawk) and BT135 which I had this thing is handsdown better.

And like smog said all you have to do is plug in via USB and it's sync'd!

I have used it on Resistance 2. Just hook it up via usb, while in the cradle, press the power button until the green light comes on.

Ah, thanks. :mrgreen: I just accepted it. I look forward to playing with CAGs. It should be a bit more organized than playing with randoms. :hot:
 
I ll check later after warhawk night thanks. still trying to get used to Socom , last one i played was was fireteam Bravo i loved that one and confrontation has yet to compare. i just need to get my bearings i guess. I love the new headset and the onscreen indicator is sweet.
 
After playing Socom Confrontation I wondered why I ever quit playing it. That was until I died early on in the second round and watched a guy on my team camp behind a sofa for six minutes. In the last ten seconds he got up and started randomly shooting his gun. I froze after that and could not get back into a game. This game has some real server issues and after paying $59.99 I feel ripped off. On the other games, I had the single player campaign to go back on, but when the servers are screwed up I just have to play a different game. Also, box says it has trophies, kind of lame that Sony shipped a half-assed product. I would not mind some new maps either, I knew I was buying old maps, but have yet to play or see the expansions on them. Headset is awesome though, like that the best. I also like how it comes up on your TV when you mute. It also has very large print so you can easily see where the volume is unlike some other blu tooth headsets.
 
Just noticed that our clan symbol shows up on our armor. Pretty dope. Any suggestions for a Clan Motto? I looked around the site and couldn't really find a CAG mission statement or whatnot.
 
I like the headset as well, but i don't like how it sits on the ear (when wearing glasses).

Anyhow i just threw down and bought the game (b2 get 1 free promo match at bby)

I'm down for adding a few Cag'ers to my friends list.

I thought the CheapyD mission statement was :lol:. I noticed that the clan symbol showed up during the beta also. BTW, can we add people to clan or only you smiggity? Because I wanted to invite my buddy TBuckner to the clan.
 
After reading some previous posts, let me get this straight, to register the headset, you must:

Settings > accessory settings > Manage Bluetooth device > register bluetooth device > put the headset in its charger and turn it on > press start scanning > wait for scan

If that's the case, mine has been scanning for 5 minutes with no success.
 
No. Pug the Mini USB into the top of the headset itself, with no stand/base involved.

Go to Manage Bluetooth Devices and plug the other end of the USB into the PS3. You do not need to scan for it.

How does 10:30pm EST work for everyone Sunday Night??
