SOCOM: Confrontation *General Discussion Thread*

The biggest problem IMO is the lack of the party system that is referenced a few posts above. I absolutely cannot believe they took that out (for now) without even mentioning it. So as of now the only way to join a friends game is to join a lobby then send them a message through the in-game friends list. Thas really irks me

When I first loaded SOCOM, I received the "Corrupt Data" during the profile part. I resolved the "Corrupt Data" error by pressing back (O) and trying again (X).
 
The one game I played was great but it took almost an hour to get into it, and then because of various other issues I could not get into another game. Last nights experience is far worse than any problems I had during the beta. How could Sony not have enough servers for the very first day the game is available? Do they want this game to fail?

I know, I have it. But it doesnt launch as a stand alone accessory until November. My bad.
 
This was the same question I had with Metal Gear Online. I mean, for crying out loud, couldn't you do a projection of how many copies of the game you expect to sell in the first week, assume that 100% of those copies will have one person playing online, find out what kind of load one person has on a server when they're in-game, and then dole out game servers appropriately?

It always amazes me when companies have online issues at launch due to "underestimating demand". It's like, did you actually think that nobody was going to login to a game that is ONLY online? Good Lord, who do they have testing this software?

Maybe it's time for me to apply to Sony.
 
It's actually more likely than not to have problems at launch. I don't condone it, but GTA4, MGS4, Warhawk, COD4 .... all the major games had periods of a few days to a few weeks where they struggled to get there shit together.

My copy won't be here until early/mid next week so hopefully it's a little better by then.

This is really annoying I installed the damn thing and got the corrupt data message. So I deleted it all and downloaded it again, hopefully I will be able to play the game that I paid money for. This shiznit should be fixed before a game releases. If you have an online only game you would think it would make sense to have the online part actually work.
 
I got the different errors and stuff everyone mentioned so I gave up last night.

Played from 11 am- 1 pm central time in an unranked room on central 3 server section. Played about 5 games total and it was nearly flawless. We'll see what it's like tonight.
 
Lots of problems getting on but once I got in a game everything ran smooth. The game is a blast so far. I'll be on later tonight if anyone would want to play.
 
The game is a blast once you get thing running smoothly but, the Random Freezing after a game or messing around with the headset really gets annoying. I hate having to force shut down my ps3 which in most cases I rarely do... SOCOM HAS GIVEN ME THIS CRAP AND it's no fun.

What's wrong with the headset?
 
OK, this game is really fun when the servers are up and working. The motion controls are tops when configured.

Oh, and the sound is excellent. Better than Bad Company.

I keep getting the alert about how my freekin score and ranking will not be tracked. THIS IS BULLSH#T. THANKS ALOT SLANT6 FOR LURING ME INTO BUYING A GAME THAT I CAN BARELY PLAY, DUE TO "SERVER ISSUES.":bomb::hot:

I'm using my old Klipsch ProMedia 4.1 set-up. It still sounds great. I imagine a higher-end Logitech set-up would induce a sexy-seizure.

It's sad with a game that is online only you'd think the idiots would make sure the game works but nooo they release a online only game with crappy ass servers. Makes me weary about buying big title games with multiplayer if this is what happens everytime (Socom is my first online game on ps3 so not sure how all the other games have turned out in the beginning like warhawk).

Eesh. My headset decided to rebel on me this morning. Made a few phone calls using it on the way to work, tried to turn it off and it just refuses to do so. It will play the tone like it's turning off and blinking rapidly, but it just stays on, and now it won't work with my phone either. Sony customer support suggested returning it to the store, saying there's no way to do a hard reset of the device. Bummer. :\
 
If you still want to use your blue tooth as your PS3 blue tooth headset only, Try plugging the Headset into the Dock and have the Dock hooked up with the USB Cord that goes through the PS3 then mess around w

That's the thing, Warhawk was the exact same mess. It took over 3 months for everything to be fixed with Warhawk, and by then Halo 3 and CoD 4 came out so I said screw it.

It's sad that a 360 beta (CoD 5) runs better than a full retail game (SOCOM).
 
I just bought this today online TRU B2G1. I have never really played a socom game online so this will be my first. Hope to play with some of you soon.
 
I got my headset charged and now I can not get it to turn on. I have had some bad luck with this game. Any advice on what to do with this headset. It charges fine, but I can't even get the green light to come on when it is in the cradle. The blinking red light shows it charging and the solid red works to show it is charged, but after that nada.
 
I think the solid red light signifies it's fully-charged. At least that's what I believe.

Played my 1st game and once I got it in it wasn't to bad but my stats didn't save after the game. I was playing ranked but none of my kills showed up in my stats?
 
Wow, that update nearly took me 2 hours to download a 500MB file. Anyway, got to play a few rounds. Solid controls, though I'm still not used to playing FPSs with the PS analogs. It just feels loose for some reason. Looks solid graphically, but I can't say much else since I got stuck in a level where I exclusively used NVGs. The sound is pretty damn amazing. It's amazing how you can pinpoint where all the action is from the sound field (assuming you have 5.1). Haven't tried the headset yet, but I must admit it's a slick looking device, though not one I would use in public. I am a fan of the Jawbone, but as an official system headset, this one takes the cake aesthetically.

I really wish this had some sort of mini-campaign though that serves as a tutorial. That would've been phenominal. Anyway, when are we having a CAG night?

Now I don't know if they're just not showing up, but are actually saving on their end.

Not to sound like an ass but did you press the power button? It's sort of hidden so I missed it at first.
