Sony Playstation Home - Gen. Discussion & Info - Open Beta Available Now
I would doubt it, since the email said by October 29.
i got the e-mail on the nov .1 and order it that day

It will be here in a few weeks

As Timski said, we'll be sending our invites once v1.0 is live.
Understand that SCEA's motivation to reward annual subscribers to QORE is a little different to our motivation to do a load test before Open Beta.
Please dont worry though, we here at SCEE really do have a lot of invites to send and Open Beta will be along within weeks of that as well.

Anyone else get an invite. I tried it out this morning. Should be really interesting when it is full.

I didn't really try it out that much. Just made a basic looking character and looked at it for a couple minutes. Just a couple of observations I'm sure others have made so I won't mention any...yet.

I think Microsoft set a slightly better example on how to conduct beta testing invites. Let people that are truly interested sign up and get into the beta and leave the rest for the public release.

From what I've gathered, the Home Beta Theme download idea had to be the worst PR gaff in existence. Sony couldn't stick to a sign-up site? Were they trying to pull unknowing, normal folk that don't follow PS news to try it out or is it just THAT bad.

I'm not even going to go into my legal argument on how Sony just made NDAs even more worthless because of this transparent, "download application" process. I love imaginary, faux legal contracts.

Anyways, it shows a lack of competency on the part of Sony's management, the lack of dedication Sony has to its fans (the PS Blog, is frankly, bullshit... and by bullshit, I mean, it totally lacks any personality or substance in what they write), and the lack of confidence Sony has in their brand. If it's really THIS close to release, and Sony won't mutter a press release other than they've canned entry for non-subscribers and keep adding bits about Home as a footnote to a few of their e-mails... something is seriously wrong with Home.

Prove me wrong Sony.. what's wrong Sony management, never read up on stakeholder theory? or are you guys seriously that behind the times? Jamming your Flash Gordon Queen cassette in your Walkman? . oh wait, you Sony guys don't read forums...

Dang, a bit harsh?

PS Blog is BS?
At first I thought it'd be a joke, but it's actually quite good.
Before that, I'd know almost nothing about the people making some of the games, and the PSN store updates would always be a mystery, not to mention FW updates.

The blog really is great, especially since its a variety of people that contribute to it, from all kinds of developers.
And it's especially nice that they actually read the comments and respond.

It's unorganized. Microsoft has the right idea by at least giving a face to the blog with Major Nelson. I can't even keep track of what's going on with the Playstation Blog. It's the right idea, but poorly executed. It's unorganized. You hit the main site... you have ten different authors, different stuff... store updates, costume contests, etc. Developer blogs can be interesting... but some wise sage once said many years ago, "When I look down at my 5-speed shifter, do I actually give a shit who built it?" Game commentaries can be interesting... like how Valve applied it to Half Life within the game... but reading about... "design challenges" and "cut features" or whatever (I was too bored to actually read though half the dev interviews set forth in front of me).

I've just found it uninteresting and it does little to actually LISTEN to the Playstation community or evoke any sort of change. Sony Computer Entertainment is still hemorrhaging money as a continued result of no one in the company actually relaying memos to each other.

We're talking, mega- corporate scale Office Space memo misplacement.

Well, I don't hit the site to read the backlog. I suppose that's badly organized, never looked.

I just have an RSS feed and read the ones I find worth a look. And then usually never look back. Like every other blog.

It's from the blog that many upcoming features are revealed for certain games, rather than standard PR's that eventually wind up on IGN or whathaveyou.

As far as listening? It's because of readers' comment that Capcom said they'll be giving a patch for trophies in Bionic Commando (hasn't shown up yet), and also what brought them PixelJunk Monsters (has come)

I definitely don't get the "impersonal" vibe from the blog. It's a handy tool.

Beta invites, I can agree with.
But it makes Home and KZ2 all the more mysterious rather than the normal "betas" you just sign up for (which are just demos, really).

Name one personality or blogger that really sticks out when you read the Playstation blog? Just off the top of your head.

There was a sign up for home. The site was homebetatrial.com Now that the beta has started it forwards to the forum.
Name one personality or blogger that really sticks out when you read the Playstation blog? Just off the top of your head.
I think you read the blog differently than me.
I don't remember anyone that posts (except Grace Chen as she's so ), I'm just saying I find it an enjoyable read, and it isn't a pure, impersonal Press Release blog where I'm only reading marketing spin.

If it were purely mindless PR, like I imagined it was going to be, I would never read it.

It was a Sony Europe site that was never used.

is there a 1-800#

Looks like they're just advertising holiday titles to me. The first is LBP, the second is Motorstorm: Pacific Rift. If anything, the third will be Resistance 2.

I don't really see how this has anything to do with Home.

That sounds right. I don't think Sony would have Home as advertisement If the other two was games. I assume the third one is a game as well. I wish it was a surprise game though or something we don't know about.

Managed to download 1.0. Couldn't get past the ToS though. It ballooned in size on me though, don't know how. Also they moved where it is on the XMB.

After the ToS comes up hit circle to close it and then choose accept.

And when you want a clubhouse it takes you to the PS Store (still inside Home) to purchase it. It comes up as $0.00 in the beta but I'm thinking only one person has to pay to set up the club initially.

I bought one and named it "CAG". You were able to see it mdam0re?

I like this update just for the simple fact I can finally get into the beta and try it after getting a Network Error every time I tried in Home v0.98.

I made one too CAG CLUB lol
So if I wanted to make a CAG club or a Soul Calibur Club I would have to pay for this? Are they out there freaking minds. F you sony.
From the above article:

Update: The PlayStation Closed Beta site says clubs will be a for-pay service. "Club is a service that requires regular payment. During Closed Beta test users can enjoy this service free of charge." However, a Sony developer clarifies saying "Clubs do not cost money. There will be premium club houses."

haha okay. I applied to that one! I'm not sure what happened to the one I created.

Just got invited into the Home beta and didn't bother with any of that Qore stuff. Looks like the Playstation Underground gave me a little sugar before going out.

Well I got the code, too. Finally get to see what all the hype is about. I don't expect much so hopefully I'm pleasantly surprised.

Funny that, I just got another beta invite code. Don't know if it'll work or not. But if you want the code, be the first to PM me.

Ugh, I never even signed up for a home beta or Qore sub or anything.. and the second I get that e-mail... my stupid PSN goes down and I cant log back in... middle of playing R2 too.

Um...is it just me or did they take away the Home Game Spaces? Or do I have to put the disc in to see those now?

I got an invite as well and have no memory of ever signing up for the beta.

I don't even know if I'll bother entering the beta. Home doesn't interest me at all.

One of the first things I hear over someone's mic: "Where the white women at?!"

Expectations exceeded already.
