Algol holding Soul Calibur and Soul Edge?

yeah, it's already been confirmed that Algol is a character that wields both swords.

also, I'm super glad about the 2P outfit for lizardman... I really hated his 1P outfit...

this get's me wondering... what does Vader's and Yoda's 2P look like????????????????

[quote name='depascal22']Maybe Vader's 2P is Anakin Skywalker pre-barbecue.[/QUOTE]

I'd normally say that would make sense but the only problem is that anakin outside of the vader suit isn't as big...?

They'll make him walk on stilts!

Anyways, I'm super pumped for SCIV even more than I was like 2 hours ago because of all those damn screenshots. Screw you time!

It looks like Vader's 2P is in those shots. Looks like he's missing the cape and instead has kind of a half-robe thing. Sort of disappointing that it's not more distinct. I wonder if we can make Hello Kitty Vader in CAS??

Looks more like his Episode 3 garb mixed with his normal Darth Vader gear.

Not to bring down the hype, but according to 1up Yours, SCIV's preview or review code (forgot which) did NOT have an online mode.

The recently banned Dark Slayer120 told me on AIM to give you guys the Japanese voice cast for SCIV. Here it is.

Wow, X's 3B doesn't launch except on CH? That is nuts, I'm sure she'll still have the annoying AA and even though her 3B doesn't launch on normal hit, I bet she'll have a launcher that is just as good. As long as she has 3A being the same, she'll be fine (I THINK)...

Sophie's 11AA* unblockable being slower is always good... But I wonder about her WR A+B* unblockable as well. 66B being easier to step won't mean much to me seeing as step doesn't seem anywhere near as strong. So yea...

And lol at their description of Ivy.

Algol's "soul bubbles" sound alot like the projectiles that whats his face at the end of KOFXI has, that bastard!

Also, what is this junk they mention about Ivy and long distance poking! That sounds evil.

Where do you guys think the best place to preorder is? I've heard of various pre order goodies and I want to know which you guys think is the best.

Best Buy is offering a mini desk calender that you get when you pre-order (not when you pick up). Meaning, if you wanted to, you could pre-order, get the calender, and then cancel the pre-order, effectively getting the calender for free.

Gamestop has some dinky little keychain. Not worth it, imo.

Gamecrazy has a 360 Faceplate or a PS3 console skin, depending on which one you order. However, I've heard its kinda iffy on whether or not you'll actually get pre-order bonuses from them.

Blockbuster has a rather decent looking 5"x9.5" art print. Dunno much about pre-ordering there though at all.

Or you could just wait and try to find a place that's including a 10$ gift card at purchase. This might be the best choice, since none of the other bonuses seem all that great, or you aren't guaranteed to get them.

Magazine scan from xbox360 magazine. In the little online blurb it says namco is thinking about having online tournaments which would be pretty cool. Although most likely broken as hell as everyone will flock to the top tier or broken characters (yoda/vader?).

But good that their at least thinking about the community.

I love how he just blows off the question about whether it's difficult to create compelling original characters. I have a good idea of what his answer would have been anyway.

I'm a little annoyed that they kept calling it a "beat 'em up," rather than a "fighter" or "fighting game." They're different genres, dammit. I hope that little bit of naming confusion doesn't turn out to be telling.

thank god about the 2P astaroth... the new design was a bit too radically different to ven recognize him IMHO... glad to see that. I wonder if there will be unlockable 3P outfits?

From the look of this screenshot, there are 3 stock costumes and 7 totally custom ones you can make. Or there are 10 stock costumes you can edit with however you want. You can decide which theory you want to believe.

By the look of the scroll bar on the side of the costumes, it looks like theres more than 10 sluts slots.

from the looks of it, that third costume is a custom.

I'm still trying to figure out if i should get this for 360 or PS3.

360

  • LIVE has more people who use voice-chat & better/easier matchmaking & friends/invite/inter-game communication

PS3

  • PS3 controller feels better for fighting games

what version are you all getting & why?

[quote name='MarkMan']Get a decent arcade stick and just flip a coin.

Or get both, which is what I'm doing. ;)[/quote]
i can't see buying the same game twice.

I'm not sure what I should get an arcade stick for though. I have VF5 for 360; but PS3 is getting Tekken.

Also the button layout's are different. Which is closer to the arcade's?

Neither of them is exactly like the arcade ones, but the colored layout on the 360 buttons (the ps3 one can fit that pattern too) is the closest to the SC machines in button layout you can get.

You can remap the buttons to make them the arcade SC layout.

FYI the SC layout is identical to the colored buttons on the 360 stick.

Code:
 A B K
G

now that i look close at it, if you put your finger over the extra 2 buttons on the right of the PS3 version the layout looks pretty close.

any1 w/ some photoshop skills out there that can put them on top of each other in layers, lining them up to see if the layout is the same?

Since I had PS open already:

sc4sticks.jpg

You can see the leftmost buttons overlap exactly, although the stick is in a different place on each and I had to rotate the 360 version a bit. Some of the difference could just be discrepancies in the original photos, though.

The measurements and layout for the left 6 buttons on the PS3 stick and the 360 stick are identical.

That is the traditional Japanese button layout.

thanks. so since the distance between the buttons are the same, we can infer that the 360's stick is at a slightly greater distance from the buttons than the PS3 version. perhaps the same distance as the extra row of buttons on the PS3 version.

360 also looks like the buttons are on a slightly steeper slope since it had to be tilted right to line up.

Wish i could find a place where they were on display. but the only place I've seen them is gamestop & they're in boxes.

i know the 360 one clicks when you move the joystick does the PS3 one too?

also, i read in the IGN review on the PS3 version that it uses a box shaped cut out for the joystick as opposed to the typical american circle cut. does the 360 stick use a circle cut or is it box too?

[quote name='sleepy180']Yup i saw that yesterday. 9$ pricedrop from june 28th when i bought mine. I will call and get my $8 bucks, you can bet on that. I dont think so amazon.com[/quote]
Really? Should call them about this... but I'm just a little too lazy.

Anyway, I played around with the stick the other day. It feels more comfortable than using a controller to play. I just need to get used to using the stick.
