SoulCalibur IV - (10.17.08) - Vader/Yoda DLC set to release on 10/23 [400 points]
Was wondering if anyone knew if the maid/school uniform DLC would be available on XBL/PSN down the road and projected cost?
Are you sure they're not just unlocked from the beginning for the CE?

I have the regular and have unlocked a maid and school uniform.

I'm so bad at this game :D
I played for about 4 hours (I love how the game shows exactly how long you've been playing when you go to Museum>Records.
I've never been good at SC games. My mains however are Ivy,Taki and Tira. I'll be trying out all the characters before I get a real idea of who I want to use the most. Ivy is my favourite but I'm not very good with her yet.

I just wish the training mode didn't suck so badly.
Hahahaha, yep, they're the same.

Kind of a rip off.
Did you unlock them or were they just in there?

Hm. Makes me wish I'd checked what the CAS inventory was before I downloaded the bonus DLC.

It HAS to be something. It was 3 megs. Maybe there's a hat in there that I missed.

I really don't like how some characters that use to play one way now are totally unfamiliar territory for people who played them in the last game... I'm mainly talking Tira, but I can't complain too much... then again I hate how random Tira is setup.
I unlocked them.
Sorry to be a pain in the ass, but I really want to get to the bottom of this. By Exclusive DLC, I sure hope they didn't mean a cheat code because that would be uber lame. If that's the case, it's not even downloadable stuff at a later date, which would be far preferable to a cheat code.

A guy who documented what was added after downloading the stuff listed it here:

here's the LE DLC

Soul Edge (Final Form) and Soul Calibur (Final Form) unlocked at the start without having to purchase them.

Female Character

HAT:
White brim

NECK:
Lace Tie
String Necklace
String Nectie

Short Apron
Apron Skirt
Pleated Checkered Skirt

SOCKS:
Loose Socks
Knee Socks

Male Character:

Would you mind comparing your unlocked stuff with this one?

I don't have:

White Brim
Blazer
Knit Vest
Short Apron
Loose Socks
Knee Socks
Formal Pants
Leather Loafers

I haven't unlocked everything though, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were on the disc and I hadn't unlocked them yet.

I could be wrong though.

ok good... there's nothing I want in the LE now. I was expecting something more important but naw.

note to new users: Maxi is button masher friendly, use him if you don't know how to play.

I'm stuck on a tower of souls level where you only can do 1% damage to all the opponents and no throws or ring outs and I can't think of any way around this. I kille the first 3 guys but always die at the 4th.

Thanks for checking for us. :) Let us know if you get the rest of the stuff so I know how much to hate Namco.

Critical Finishes?

Save data for the PS3 version is now locked. How do I know this? The Apprentice pissed me off, so I decided to import a save and it didn't work. I don't think I'll ever unlock that cheap SOB.

move the difficulty down to easy?
I'm about to get back on in a bit. All i did earlier was play Yoda, who kinda sucks so far. I was only killed in one round by losing health, every other time was a ringout because he is so floaty.
It seems deeper gameplay wise, but they took out a lot of presentation. No special intros, and no profiles like there were in every other SC. The story web feels cheap.

I don't think Difficulties apply to Arcade mode. I set it to Easy and got my ass handed to me. I spent 40 minutes on the guy, won maybe 4 matches. I get him down to 1 hit, and he uber dodges then spams me for 12 hits in a row.
uh, hello? Look to the left. Also, new PS3 firmware is out. Yes, another one.
Yeah, mine's updating now... I wanted to see how bad I was online but my system had to update.

And I know I won't be able to get Apprentice. I'm horrible with Vader.:whistle2:\

I played a round of Story Mode (Normal) with Ivy and I kicked some ass, beating it relatively easy. I don't get it. I guess Vader is way over my head skill wise or he just sucks or Arcade Mode is set to a higher difficulty. Also, I've read there is another way to unlock the Apprentice. No details were given.

Although I'm expecting Bandai Namco to unleash unlock DLC for all locked characters. That might be why the Apprentice is so hard.

no, the apprentice is just very powerful of a character. simple as that.

as for story mode, just play it in hard and you guys will probably get headaches. Hard wasn't that bad though to be honest.

oh and it seems that the PS3 version of the game has sold more copies already.

The Apprentice is such a prick. Was blowing through the game like normal, then spent like 12 minutes on that douchebag. At least the level had the cool Duel of the Fates music. I thought maybe I was sucking because I was using a CAS character, but after seeing this thread I know that is not the case.

Try triangle triangle, back + square square. Took me about 15 times to beat him but i didn't know his moves.

Any suggestions on how to get my back to the Ring quickly before he attacks? When I try again, I'm gonna try and ring him out.
My store got like 8 PS3 LE's. They won't be hard to find.
Do you buy chance know they're actually limited in availability or if this is just an early sell out? The GS I picked up my copy from said they already sold out of the extra 3 PS3 PEs they had and that they only had 1 of the 3 360 PEs left (the rest were reserved). And I went in half an hour after the store opened.

And it still confuses me that they're no longer even listed on Gamestop.com.

For people having trouble against The Apprentice, keep in mind that Arcade mode is much harder than Story mode. Story mode is pretty much a joke in terms of difficulty. Here's one tip if you're having a lot of trouble as Vader. Just back up to the edge. Once your back is close to the cliff of an arena, just throw the opponent. Vader will pick him up and toss him behind for an instant KO.

At the store I preordered from, they didn't get any copies of the PS3 LE, despite the fact that I preordered it. It's lucky that the LE is shitty to the point where I wanted the standard edition instead, because I woulda been pretty pissed. I mean, you fuckin' preorder the game - put money down so they'll do but one simple thing - get the game. And they can't even do that. Guy had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to preorder anything else while I was there, and I shot him a look to answer the question.

Not Gamestop's fault. There were production issues with the LE. They weren't received in stores until today, unlike the regular edition which was out a week ago. So if you went early to get your copy, it wasn't there.

I second the Apprentice being a tough one. :) Of course Vader's a bit slow for the Apprentice (and I guess I suck more than I realize), but I was able to defeat the apprentice with Mitsurugi's throws. It seems that once you get a bead on him (and break his throws at every possible point) he's not able to give you the patented "super freaking fast whatfor" that frustrated the snot out of me this afternoon.

I've done a couple of story modes (Ivy and Astaroth)... and spend entirely too much time in the character creation mode. ;)

Oh, and bonus.. I've counted 3 Star Wars themes in the SW level. The main title music, Duel of the Fates, and Imperial March. A nice feature when you're duking it out on the docking bay of a Star Destroyer. :)

Do you know what production issues there were? It might account for the Amazon getting most of theirs late and its general absence in large retail stores.

No idea. The email just said "production issues." The LEs were only shipped the day before the game came out.

Wait wait wait. Mitsurugi? You beat him with Mitsurugi? How is this possible?

Also, I was using Form 1 of Vader. I guess the 2nd one might be more powerful? I tried him out, and he seemed a bit stronger.

With all due respect, the problem sounds more like you, rather than him.

I wouldn't recommend the Tower of Souls for those who find The Apprentice hard in Arcade mode.

True the problem does sound like him...Learn to guard impact also. That's mainly what I'm working on.
Character creation is fun, but I really need to unlock some more parts. I kind of wish the shop from SC3 was still in, because I hate having to buy the item while I'm in the actual shop. The preview is great bit it's a little overwhelming.

I finally beat that fucking Apprentice and beat Arcade Mode, with Vader no less. Seriously, he's designed for Voda, not Vader. He destroys Vader. I'm sure people unlocked the Apprentice with Yoda lickity split, but Vader took awhile.
Also the fact that there's one more fucking character after that really ticks me off
. Damn.

Now all I need to do is to figure out how to unlock every character, stage, and fighting style then I can start enjoying this game. At times like this, I wish it was possible to Delete Game Modes. Because I AM NEVER GOING BACK TO ARCADE AGAIN!

Oh, and I beat him with Time Ups both times. EPIC STRATEGY:
Basically, Weld your thumb to the X button (PS3), then sparingly use R2 then back away. Then sometimes, just > Triangle, which catches him off guard from time to time then Backup. Backing up seems to be key against CPU characters as they tend to not defend well from a character away while up close they have the Berlin Wall of Defenses

Well I have about 6-7 hours in now, and damn am I tired! 2 Hours of sleep yesterday, damn doctors and their morning appointments.

Anyways, is it just me or does yun seong have like a million ring-you-the-fuck-out moves? Especially his B+G throw, he throws them like a mile! And don't even get me started on his 8wr(f) A!

Also, woo maxi! He's not as juggly as before (by before I mean SC2 since my ps2 died before 3 came out, but I still played it a bit later), so it looks like I'm going to have to brush up on his fakety fake moves.

Nope, he is still a pain with Yoda.
