Re: Framerate discussion

...
Another option is RTSS (Rivatuner Statistics Server) that comes with MSI Afterburner (I think you can download it separately also) for limiting the FPS for a certain .exe to any number.

I was having issues with crazy screen tearing in Homeworld Remastered at 60 fps with VSYNC/triple buffering forced in the NVIDIA control panel, but locking the fps to 59 seemed to get rid of my issues.

Another important aspect of performance are frametimes. Durante talks a bit about it in his Witcher 3 performance analysis and links to another article that discusses frametimes in more depth.

RTSS is included in EVGA Precision X 15; meanwhile EVGA Precision X16 dropped it.

I kept both X15+16 installed (in different locations) b/c I knew people didn't like X16 dropped RTSS. I still use X15 for older DX9 games.

Either version of Precision X for me does a fine job w/ specific framerate limiting.

Is that a bug w/ Homeworld Remastered or something? VSync On + Triple Buff via NVidia CC at 60 FPS it had tearing, yet locking to 59 FPS solved it all? Weird.

EDIT:

About VSync: I'll often flat-out keep VSync OFF, whether in-game setting and/or in the NVidia Control Panel only as long as it doesn't do any weird graphical issues - i.e. as long as it doesn't do graphical tearing; cause any stutters; and cause crazy framerate rises + drops. You can really gain a lot of frames (if that's what you want), if you keep that off - especially in the newer + more modern games.

I'll often just find a framerate it sticks around at often w/ VSync OFF and lock it down to that via EVGA Precision, as long as it doesn't do any weird graphical nonsense. A lot of modern games, they don't seem to run into graphical tearing or garbage like that - which seemed a lot more common, in some of the older 3D games from a few gen's back (i.e. see The Suffering).

I must be the last person in Gaben-land who didn't own Titan Quest. I grabbed the gold version for $3.20 with the voucher.
Awesome game.

I still have TQ + IT from the old retail-box days.

Would be nice if TQ: Gold showed-up as a Steam-key and/or DRM-FREE in a Cheap Bundle or something.

Just finished installing my entire steam library. Sitting at 992 GBs on a 3TB hard drive. Money well spent. FeelsGoodMan.jpeg

Can you use www.mysteamgauge.com and check how accurate it is? I'm curious

It says I would use 2993.1GB if I installed all my games
For me, it says - and I quote:

Over the last 10 years, you've spent 2556.7 hours playing this selection, which includes 1042 items, is valued at $12904.5, and requires 3604.9 GB

"Over the last 5 years, you've spent 2214.1 hours playing this selection, which includes 2077 items, is valued at $18499.78, and requires 4934.7 GB"

Sounds good to me.

Over the last 8 years, you've spent about 20 minutes playing this selection, which includes 1031 items, is valued at $14039.02, and requires 4127.5 GB

Impressively accurate

I might be oversimplifying things, but it appears that if you own more games, the value of your account is higher AND would require more disk space.

A while back, they gave away credit for those who bought something ever - to entice people to probably buy something from them...for once.
Hey, thanks for this. Just logged on to see and I have $4.50 of credit there. My last purchase was December of 2013, probably the last time I logged on there too.

Hey, you could blow that all on Hitman Blood Money or Thief Deadly Shadows for $4.49 in the coolass Square-Enix sale at GetGamesGo MysterD told us about!

Thank you for that sneak preview of the nightmares that I'll be having tonight.

Over the last 8 years, you've spent 3928 hours playing this selection, which includes 2811 items, is valued at $25607.41, and requires 5750 GB

6 TBs? Not terrible, I guess. $25k is surprising though.

It's hard to describe what makes Xeodrifter so boring but playing Castle of Darkness right after will make it clear. Castle of Darkness is probably going to turn to crap with all the backtracking and collecting but right now it is a very solid, enjoyable platformer. Had more fun in one world of it than I did in all of Xeodrifter.

Over the last 6 years, you've spent 3939.6 hours idling this selection for cards, which includes 859 items, is valued at $11341.02, returned $177.14 in card money and requires 2915 GB.  Nice financial planning. dumbshit.

Over the last 9 years, you've spent 3479.6 hours playing this selection, which includes 1943 items, is valued at $19863.47, and requires 4620.3 GB

Borderlands TPS talk:

Just completed TVHM. Farmed for the 3DD.I3 and got it, level 50. I ended up grinding for a level 48 Loaded Maggie with 3% to shields Luneshine, but I want a Luck Cannon for Nisha too. Can I still grind for that gun if I don't own the DLC? I downloaded the updates, and have the Claptrap Voyage Part 2 DLC pack which is free on 360. Yes, I'm consoletarding. DLC is free on consoles when you buy the GOTY version and return it after installing the additional content.

And is there really a need to play through UVHM if I'm capped at LV50? I played just enough to get to Iwajira on UVHM, and he has like twice as much health but still won't drop a Thingy. Tiny Tina dialogue seems to be the same as TVHM. I don't have a good shield for Nisha yet, but her skills are crazy and the 3DD.I3 makes her pretty much invincible. I kind of want the Naught, but don't want to buy Tales of Borderlands SP to get it. Any Legendary shields worth farming for her?

This whole Steam value posts are funny, cause I happened to get curious and do it the other day.

Found 1326 games with the value of $12,918.78 and a total playtime of 963.10 hours.

Every once in a while someone gets a bug up their ass and posts these account sites and everyone else has to Lemming and do the same damned thing even though it's boring as shit and no one cares.

You all have way too many games that are 'worth' a shitton of money if you count the MSRP which you didn't pay for them and it doesn't matter anyway because you can't resell them.

Yep, that's true, even I'm bored and I keep a detailed spreadsheet of my spending on games.

Are those Delta Quadrants running on Borg Cubes?
