[customspoiler=?]Nah, I mean more like people calling my ex Japanese or Chinese when there's a noticeable difference between certain Asian groups. You should be able to tell the difference between Japanese and Southeast Asians (Cambodia, Vietnam) easily, for instance. You'd have to be a complete idiot to call someone like a Filipino a Korean or something. It gets more confusing with the countries that are close together (especially the smaller ones) because chances are the person isn't pure-blooded, so that's forgiveable, but most Americans in my experience, just call all Asians Chinese or Japanese automatically and it's insulting. It's like calling me Mexican. If you don't know someone's specific nationality and aren't confident enough to guess, don't say a specific nationality.[/customspoiler]

I've been assumed to be "Asian", Filipino, Hispanic...and black. None have insulted me. I don't believe anyone has ever assumed my background correctly.

i suppose I should have included that generally when people have called me "Mexican", it's often not a positive connotation. Hispanic is fine, but Mexican is the equivalent of calling any Asian person, Chinese. Generally not done in the nicest way (though I guess if you went with the #s, Chinese is the best guess..)

I've always assumed you were Filipino, but then I live in Seattle and when I don't know what ethnicity someone is here or they like they could be 4 or more different ethnicities I just guess Filipino and it's right about 75% of the time.

I think I get everything under the sun but what I am too. For some reason I think Americans of Italian descent are hard to guess for most people unless they look like Snookie.

If you believe one is worse than the other, that's your call. I choose to listen to people I respect and ignore all the rest. I've been called plenty of potentially (as deemed by the speaker) derogatory remarks, I just choose not to believe them to be derogatory, so whatev. I gots bigger things to worry about in my life...like gettin' mah Steam count to 1K.

Actually you held a contest a while back and I won the Valve complete pack for eventually guessing correctly. It was Korean/Italian. Thanks again for that by the way. So awesome.

This has got to be my favorite place to converse with people on the net. Not just for the free stuff but also for the amount of actual decent conversation going on here. Just wish I had more time recently to run my mouth more often on here.
