Interesting...

Europe is definitely a hot location for Steelbooks, but unfortunately for us here in Canada it takes a great deal of work with the studios to secure these. The G2 sizes are produced in Scandinavia, so it takes us a long time to procure them.

There is talk of a G2 producer being based out of the US, which would drastically reduce the cost, and hopefully increase availability here in Canada.

The following images are from the copy that can be bought as the Best Buy pre-order which should either be available now or sometime this week as YMMV.

It's a shame they felt the need to put a rating on the cover. Especially when it isn't rated yet, hence the RP(rating pending) in the corner.

Nice! I'll just switch out my U.S. disc and try to sell the B disc and U.S. case to someone with a region free player for a few bucks.

No sign of the AC3 steelbook when I picked up my Muppets steelbook pre-order today.

Hopefully, it'll be out tomorrow, like everyone seems to think it will be.

The official date for it is 3/10 though we know how BB is with street dates on promo items.

I picked up The Muppets steelbook when I was at best buy today. I was going to get the AC3 one too but it wouldn't fit in my ps3 collection well, so I'll pass on it for now.

Might be a hard sell to the wife since we just bought a new 55 inch 3D tv.
 
It'll cost as low as $50 to get a region free player. It just may not last too long. With all the cool UK steelbooks and other exclusive locked movies over there, it's worth it.

(referring to refurb'd Insignia Blu-ray players from BB and this hack)
 
Are PS3s region specific as well? I ended up getting one for pretty cheap a few months ago and haven't used it once. I've heard they can be unlocked, that they're region free for movies to begin with, and that they'll play 3D as well. Haven't googled much... I figured I'd ask here first. I like The Return of the Living Dead art.

Yeah the PS3 does do 3D playback, it is also only a Region A player so it is not region free.

With Arrow announcing that more and more of their titles are going to be locked, I just might have to do this.
