My amazon.de Hobbit steelbooks came. They literally stuck a shipping label on the item itself and shipped it out. The sorting post office in the US stuck it in a shady looking box with no return address, with a sticker saying they found it in the mail stream. I was freaking out a little about what it was.

Obviously, the outer box has every corner worn down, and the plastic wrapping ripped in multiple places.

I hope you'll be giving Amazon.de the business on how they handled that mess.

Sucks that it came in such poor shape. What exactly are on the discs if you don't mind me asking? I'm guessing it's theatrical versions and all the standard extras? I'm tempted to order the same but have the BB 3D release and the oversize steelbook release from Amazon.uk. I'd like standard thin cases but just trying to minimize the number of times I double dip. Also, I'm seriously considering theatrical version because the extended have actually been worse IMHO.

They should just be the theatrical versions, but with 3D versions, in a box that houses 3 steelbooks and the red book (which was the appeal for me).

As for extended, the Hobbit films are already beyond "extended," unlike LotR. I actually haven't watched any of the Hobbit, but I bought it so I can justify getting the 2-hour fancut that takes out anything not in the books (which I do want to watch).

Sorry Kate from Lost. You don't belong.

Also, I sent amazon.de an email through their English contact, and they got back to me within 5 minutes. They gave me a label to ship it back, and they're mailing a replacement.

Anyone know whether Shaun the Sheep at Zavvi is really region B? My understanding is many times it's just a conservative placeholder but in the forums many times it appears people find out through screeners etc. that they are universal. I'd love to order the steel but try to avoid double dipping.

Can I play bluray's from Zavi on a U.s ps3 or ps4? Some of these steelbooks are really nice, but pointless if I can't watch the movie.
While not always accurate many of the disks are labeled region B in the description. Blu Rays are region coded in many cases and PS4 and PS3 are region coded players that play only from the region they were purchased. US PS4 systems play only region A content normally so you need to look for "region free" in most cases for for import blu rays to work.

Thanks for the clarification.

My Best Buy had a box of steelbooks in the back today. Rise of the Apes, the Walmart exclusive Anchorman 2 pack, the Target exclusive Wolf of Wall Street, Star Trek Wrath of Kahn, and I think one or two more. I can't remember. I'm assuming it'll be a display or on an endcap.

Also Noah and Raiders of the Lost Ark.   Only Star Trek and Indiana Jones are new steelbooks; the rest are reprints.  Apparently Noah got upgraded to a glossy finish.

Interesting to see that they got previous steelbook retailer exclusives.

Any idea when they'll be put out on an ad?

Sorry for the really blurry pictures. But these were at my Best Buy.

Good to see BB bringing back the Pop Art steels.  Hopefully they put them on sale for Father's Day.  $9.99 or under and I'll buy a bunch!

Cool, I'll buy Dawn of the Planet of the Apes as I've really loved the reboot and have the 3D metalpak of the sequel. Bought it on BluRay for like 7 bucks but I think it also came with a digital copy so not a total loss.

I'd seriously consider the Indy films if I knew I could get the three from the trilogy (not worried about the 4th one though).

How much were those Fast and Furious steels?
$10, I think, but I honestly don't remember. Most titles were $14.99.

Didn't realize how blurry it was til I got home. The last few pictures I've taken with my phone has been really blurry, so I'm wondering if the sensor's going (it's 3+ years old).

I got a good look at this selection of Steel Blu's at Best Buy. I looked at The Karate Kid and noticed that neither Daniel-san nor Mr. Miyagi are on the front cover. :)

Thanks to the private IGN podcast Facebook forums, we know now there's 3 different versions of the Witcher 3 Steelbook. All 3 have Geralt on the front but on the back:

CE- Ciri
BB US- Wild Hunt
EB Games Canada/? Europe- Triss & Yen

Also no title on the spine. Grrrr.

Guess we know which one we'll have to go find on eBay.

I saw a pic on Witcher's Twitter account from a European gamer (PEGI rating & from Bandai Namco) with the Triss/Yen back so some store in Europe also has that Steelbook.

Sigh. The one I wanted most was the the Novigrad (Triss/Yennifer) steelbook.

Are they all G1 sized, btw?
They're all Blu-Ray sized (G2, right?)

Edit: My bad the European Novigrad book is G1 because it looks to be a European PC preorder bonus (there is one on EBay.)

The EB Games Canada one is G2 sized though.

Again? I'd say about half of my PS4 steels have nothing on the side, what's the deal with that?
