Street Fighter IV - Gen Discussion & Info

The DLC is such bullshit.

Paying for DLC that was produced along side the game is something that I won't support.

All of those should have been unlockables in the game already.

fucking seconded. Am I not throwing down enough money day one for you, assholes? :bomb:

I'm all for paying for additional content in a game I like, but this is intentionally withheld content. If SFIV came out on the PS2/Xbox instead of the PS3/360, this shit would be unlockable, not DLC.

Looks like the costumes are coming in packs. And they're going to trickle in over 1 month. I hope the 5 tokens from the CE mean 1 for each pack.
The CE has to be for 5 costumes, in other words, 1 pack. At least thats what im thinking. It says a token for 5 costumes.

On that site it lists the pack names. But who is in the packs?

Beauty Pack
Guessing it involves all 5 female fighters. Id buy that one.

I dont know if that magazine is showing them off in packs or what. But Muscle pack looks like Able, El Feurto, Zangief...with 2 others. Then there is a pack of the bosses. A pack with Ken, Ryu, Dan.... i think. I dunno. Can anyone figure this out?

Grapplers Pack - Zangief, E Honda, Rufus, Abel, El Fuerte (Feb 12)
Beauty Pack - Chun Li, C.Viper, Sakura, Rose, Cammy (Feb 19)
Shoryuken Pack - Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Gouken, Dan (Feb 26)
Shadoloo Pack - Dictator, Sagat, Claw, Boxer, Seth (March 5)
Classic Pack - Guile, Blanka, Dhalsim, Gen, Fei Long (March 12)
All-In Pack - Get everyone at a discount (1000 MS Points; available from April 30th)

(Got it from BlueSwim's link)

Thanks. So lets see

Grapplers pack....wanted Zangief and Abel, the rest i could care less about.
Beauty Pack... ill buy it.
Shoryuken Pack, dont care about any of these.
Shadoloo Pack... Love Balrogs, must have, Claw is pretty cool too. The rest are meh.
Classic Pack... love guile but i could live without these suits.

So i could wait and get them all for 1000 points, or get the 3 packs i want for 960 points. Hmmmm Better off waiting.

All I really want is the "Beauty Pack", since that pack has all the alts that I thought looked good from the trailer... I liked Balrog's alt as well but I'm not going to buy a pack just to get his since I never even play as him anyway.

Yes. Again I propose that we need a Gyakuten Saiban costume pack.

That's Phoenix Wright for all the losers in here.

THAT I'd throw money down. Otherwise you scrubs will just have to endure my beatings-your-ass with pedestrian clothing, which isn't going to make my wrath any nicer.

I'm for that, but I then come to the conclusion that everyone who bought that would just wear Edgeworth's clothes. I don't think I'd want to face 1000 Edgeworth's.

I already got that covered, homeboy.

Phoenix = Ryu
Edgeworth = Ken
Godot = Akuma
Maya = C. Viper (tig ol bitties)

Hell, you can take it further.

Judge = Gouken
Franziska = Cammie
Trucy or Ema = Chun Li

Look, I'd pay money for an entire Gyakuten costume switch for all characters. They could pull it off. But I think that's about the ONLY costume set I'd monetarily amend and append for.

Even though the DLC existing does suck, the complete pack rings in at like 50 cents a costume, which isn't tooooooooo highway robbery-ish.

I've got two more for that list, Sakura as Pearls and Dan as Apollo Justice. If it's that line-up and 400 points, day 1.

I guess my chances of getting a collector's edition are slim-to-none since I forgot to pre-order it...

This article announces the DLC in america. but what it doesnt say, is about the all in one pack. Are they not giving it to the US? Or are they trying to cover that up, and hope we didnt see it?

There is a 3rd Premium theme for SFIV. Dont know what it looks like yet, but it looks like the retro pack again...this time it shows cammy, sakura, chun li, and Akuma in the banner. Man i hate XBLM...give me a fucking preview!

If you're paying the retail for the SFIVCE + sales tax + buying every mini-DLC pack seperately.. you're paying about $100. That said, I'll still get them. :D

Just a heads up, it doesn't ship the 17th, it'll be in stores the 17th. It's street dated for the 17th, so it'll be in stores that Tuesday.

I heard the new premium theme has a japan background, could be chun li stage. The friends list is similar to the SFIV premium theme 2 with the characters. Though im not sure if they are the same sprites.

Seriously these costumes should already be in the game itself.

$20 more is alot especially since you can not resell them and have no value.

5 costume packs $4 each adds up nicely to 1600 Microsoft points.

At this point I am angry but as a Street Fighter fan I will buy them for 3 reasons.

#1. SF4 is only costing me $20 anyways

#2. I bought 1600 MS points at Circuit City for $12 bucks

#3. I already have 800 MS points that Microsoft gifted to me.

But at this point developers are deliberately leaving cool stuff out of game to really rip gamers off.

Oh well at least I am not dumb enough to blow an extra $20 on the absurd Collectors Edition.

Anyone else remember when you only needed to pay once to access the contents of the game you bought?

these costumes should be unlockable by beating the game and certain challenges like barrel breaking or car beat up

I wonder does Street Fighter 4 even have those BONUS stages like beating up the car or breaking the Barrels?

Probably a bad idea for Capcom to let sites show each of the character's alternate costumes when they're already on the preview builds sent out.
They should state that they hold the funds then, it's the same as charging you for it now.

If it was just pending funds however then the fault lies with the bank, they should not overdraft you for pending funds.
Maybe, maybe not, that's something that should be taken up with the bank about overdrafting. When I placed my preorder it showed my current balance and available balance with the funds set aside. So, I don't know that i would get charged if I didn't have the money for it. Either way, most companies now do their "preorders" that way it seems.
Sounds like people are finding the 360 gamepads at best buy already. Im going tomorrow and hopefully picking one up.
just got the 360 Ryu Pad today at BestBuy. Check your local BestBuys! here is the sku# 9176027

Does anyone know if there are any soundtracks available for the game yet? I would like to listen to some of the in-game music and see if it's up to snuff, aka being of similar quality to some of the classic medleys from SF2:Turbo.

How is it? Can you pull off a sonic boom without accidentally hitting up on the follow through?

Yeah, the fightpad is awesome, and all the moves are much easier and smoother to pull off. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to play Street Fighter IV. I got to try it out on Street Fighter II HD Remix, and Street Fighter Anniversary, and the pad works really well. The build quality is nice, and the buttons are easy to press. The D-pad is also very nice.

My hands no longer feel any pain that the 360 controller caused me in the last few months playing Super Street Fighter HD Remix. For $39.99 it is definitley worth the price tag. Normally I would avoid Madcatz products, but it seems they have done a great job with these Street Fighter accessories.

I am pissed off at how the Xbox 360 Street Fighter Pads and Aracde Sticks Are WIRED.

But the same Street Fighter 4 Pads and Aracde sticks for the PS3 are Wireless.

This alone makes me consider getting the PS3 Version instead. And Cheaper DLC.

Only the fightpad is wireless on ps3.

Plus that is a stupid idea since wired>wireless in sticks and almost everything.

Boy you say a lot of dumb stuff. Toodles at Shoryuken (and many others) have tested the official MS pads and Sony pads and neither lags at all compared to wired pads. The stigma that wireless is laggy is outdated and inaccurate.

What about when the batteries die on you mid fight, or the fact that you have to use batteries.

Wired>Wireless.
Always will be.
What about when the batteries die on you mid fight
I'll bet this happens precisely 0.00001% of the time to people. Do you get a ticket every time you drive somewhere? Or does a meteor hit your house everyday?

or the fact that you have to use batteries.

Rechargeables. Welcome to the 21st century.

Whoa! Subjective facts! That's never happened on the internets before!

re: Not wireless for the 360

Someone mentioned earlier in this thread that this is due to Microsoft not allowing third parties in. I asked the same question/made the same comment earlier, forgot who gave me that answer. Markman can probably confirm it.

This all said, I'm getting the wired pad, but I'd honestly rather have a wireless one. Since I have no control over that either way, I'll happily take the wired one, knowing it's vastly superior to the current 360 dpad.

Look here mr.internet hipser, I know you think you are all cool with your retorts but save it because its lame.

Microsoft wont let 3rd parties get at their wireless technology, so thats why we dont have wireless fightpad.

Rechargeables are expensive, get over the cord.

I dont mind wired controllers. But then again i dont sit that far from the tv.

As for cheaper DLC, isnt it a penny cheaper per pack? A total savings of 5 cents?

Wired is a problem for me. The couch is to far away from the system that it doesn't reach. I'll have to set the fightstick on my coffee table and lean forward to use it.

Rock Band and Guitar Hero instruments say hello.

That said, I wouldn't want my stick wireless anyway.

Only the PS3 fightpad is wireless, and that's with a USB dongle. Microsoft does not allow third-party wireless controllers, except for music controllers. Don't blame MadCatz/Capcom, blame Microsoft for having to have everything (wireless, HD's, etc.) to be a proprietary format no one else can use.
I tend to like wired more since all my rechargeable batteries seem to stop working over time.
...Unless you use Eneloop batteries, which last super-long. Also by the time a regular pair of rechargeables starts to go out, you've probably experienced quite a lot of wireless convenience and comfort for such a (relatively) small cost.
