Street Fighter IV PS3 Official Discussion Thread
I'm using DS3 and I can definitely see the benefits of a stick but the only really frustrating thing is doing ultra combos with L1 and L2

Seth is a fuck

has anyone beat him? How?? I just spent an hour trying with blanka (he worked good for stopping seths teleporting by electrocuting him) and ryu (he worked good keeping distance) but no luck. Maybe I'll try it on easy next time?
 I found out that staying in one spot with Blanka and constantly using his electric thunder works wonders, he just walks into it.

When the match starts off (most of the time) he stretches out and punches you, jump and fierce kick him then crouch and trip him (don't jump at him again or he'll kock you with a Shoryuken). Get away, keep your distance and block his sonic booms. He'll eventually do a wall jump at you and that's when you attack. Get away and do it again.

Once he's close enough to you he'll rape you with Shoryukens and Piledrivers. It's not a deadset way of defeating him but it'll help in learning what works and what doesn't for you.

finally unlocked everyone and beat the game with everyone on medium or above. now it seems that outside of the beat gouken on hardest, everything will be done through challenges and online fighting. time to rape the challenges with good ole gief.

now I gotta turn my ps3 back on and check Godlyone's trophies to make sure I keep pace with him. ;)

@godlyone did you beat gouken on hardest honestly or did you use the 2nd player cheat?

I wonder can you use the second player cheat to fulfill the requirements to get gouken or do you have to do that against the cpu?

so Kenpachiexodia or Godly0ne, can you guys kara cancel? ive been trying and trying but my fingers cant do the 3/60th frame cancel.

 I gave up trying to compete with you trophy-wise in SF

I honestly defeated Gouken with an aggressively-offense-focused Akuma, it was a fluke but damn my adrenaline was kicking in.

Edit: I doubt getting a perfect and 3 ultra perfects fighting the second player would get you to Gouken but I may be wrong.

If Seth weren't such a pain in my ass, I would actually attempt to go for the single play trophies, but honestly, why frustrate myself on that stuff, when I can frustrate myself by playing poorly online. ;)

lol yeah that is basically move for move what he would do. I'm going to give him another go ASAP

awww come on we are neck and neck right now. lol

I am going to try soon for that trophy after I get the 100 wins. I actually beat it with zangeif and balrog on hardest without loosing a round. did the ultras with both of them as well. couldn't get the perfects though. For some strange reason I think I am going to be able to get this trophy by using seth.

ohvermie stop it man your good. your zangief Is honestly one level away from being a saiyan. lol

seth has a vey predictable pattern, it just throws most people off(myself included) when he teleports and throws so much. I never have any problems with him with any shotos,(dan included) zangief, sagat, balrog, fei long, sakura, or gen. its those other people arghhh that took so long to beat him with.

input towards+mk+lp+lk at the same time, but situate your fingers so that the finger that hits mk extends longer than the fingers hitting lp+lk, that way it's like you're hitting all buttons at the same time even tho one button is getting hit a split split second sooner than the other two buttons.

then like magic, your Ken will teleport magically forward into a throw animation.

btw I got my PS3 copy yesterday. If anyone wants a beatdown hit me up
I just got the game, but after reading the convos above me, I'm scurred. :(
don't be scurred lol. its ok the game is fun as well as frustrating. but I will say this, I already feel like I got my money's worth for this game. still debating on getting the other 4 costume packs though.

and add me for a game anytime.

*you should be afraid of the challenges, be very afraid*

The Survival Challenges get intense later on, I'm on the 6th or 7th one and you have to fight 20 rounds, almost never made it to the end. :dunce:

Ok so this is what I have found to be the best layout for myself when using the DS3

L1-LP
L2-LK
(this makes grabbing to throw a more natural motion like as if you were actually grabbing with your hand)

[]-MP
^-HP
X-MK
O-HK
(just remember that changes focus attacks to using X and [] from O and ^)

R1-lp+mp+hp
R2-lk+mk+hk
(this makes ultra combos more accessible)
Seth is such a Douche bag.:bomb:
Haha I almost threw my controller trying to beat him with Dhalsim. It took me 25 tries on Medium

There are survival challenges (or maybe time attack) later on where they make your character invisible. D:

Anyways, I went back to playing II' hyper/HDR to get some ranked wins and aside from not finding any games, I just can't switch playing between SF II and SF IV. Takes a couple of minutes for me to readjust.

Oh yea, everybody-- I ordered my Saturn to USB adaptors from RetroUSB.com on friday. I'll be sure to let everyone know how they play once they get here. I'm really excited.

I thought about ordering the USB control from eBay, but I'm odd and prefer the fat US saturn controller. They were also kind of expensive with the new rush on them.

I got 2 chips for 40 dollars shipped. I'm likely to order a super long USB cord too, so i can sit near my tv.

Yes, please let us know how these work for you. I'm very interested.

Funny that I have no lag playing against Japanese players but the lag kicks in once I start playing people here in the States.

After the Bison vs. Bison match that I barely won, I think it's time for a break from Street Fighter before I go insane with trying to figure out strategies during online matches.

That is my layout too. I need to attempt more throws though.

^Nice. Yeah, same here. When I first switched it to that I was forgetting about throws because I was used to not using L1/2 so much. I think I am giong to buy one of those fightpads some day if there is a good deal on 'em maybe. But this is a good layout for now.

With who?

Also, this pic made me laugh.
And I play as him. :)

DAMN IT I WANTED TO POST THAT ;)

I couldn't help but play a couple of more ranked games, but fuck the Ryu and Ken players who resort to repeatedly-tripping once you're about to win. They crouch and trip you, you get up, they do it to you again the moment you get up - rinse and repeat. You manage to jump out of it but they get you again with it... :bomb:

I love having instant ultra. I do Balrog's ultra the moment they do the sweep. SAY GOODNIGHT DUMBASS. I also love the buffalo headbutt for this especially when EX'D

 Though it's pretty hard for me to slap them with Bison's ultra when I have to charge it while getting tripped.

I'm ALWAYS CHARGING with Balrog. I jump and I'm charging. I get tripped and I'm charging still, I get up and I'm still charging. 80% of my fight is charging no matter what I'm doing.
Here's what I'm using for my pad http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/gaming/pc_gaming/gamepads/devices/301&cl=roeu,en

I bought 2 of these years ago to use with my htpc and some mame games, who would have known the stupid thing would work on my ps3! I like the d-pad a lot better than the ps3 (and so does my thumb).
After you said that I tried my pc controller I have on the ps3, and it worked. I wish it was that simple for the 360.
So, there are 27 pages and I didnt go through all of them...but apparently there is some sort of glitch with Seth if you have both the game installed and the patch. (This pertains to playing the game on the easier settings apparently).

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=943711&topic=48245485
Oh, nice. I am going to delete my install next before giving it another try. Because I had both patch and the game installed and he was basically unbeatable.

my psn is tangowned

You can dd me if you want. i haven't played online yet, still getting used to the game. I found that i am really good with Viper and Fei long...gonna get those down as my mains.

Also, there are two different saturn USB pads on ebay, one is 32 and the other is 45. Is there any difference? Is the 32 dollar one a knockoff? I'd buy a stick but I honestly can't find one anywhere. I live in rural ND so I have to rely on the net, and we all know how that's going.
fuck you Ken online players. at least play Ryu if you're going to play shoto.
SFIV Patch 1.02 - No Ken Mode

Total number of players - 3

GGs Kenpachi.

mother freakin Honda man... I never played him yet but he gives me as much trouble as Balrog does!!

I still gotta level up my Blanka, less turtle and more rushdown, otherwise I jus lose lol
Then everyone can finally move on and play Dan. for once.
I sooo want to fight your Dan sometime.

I really didn't know about that! I have 5 Logitech controllers for pc gaming and MAME and I didn't think that was possible :applause: I do like playing with these and never have problems with them. Tried a controller and it worked :) Guess I won't be needing any extra controllers for the PS3.

Thanks for the info.
