It's best to give yourself some time before you say something to the game you may regret. ;)
Well, I may have called it fat. That won't come back to bite me, right? ;)

anyone have the game guide that could provide a review? I was unimpressed with the mini-guide included in the CE- if it's more of the same I'll avoid it.

When I was in middle school, i lived and died by one of the SFa2 guides that was out at the time. I've judged every game guide since by that standard, and they've always disappointed.
Don't worry, I called her a bottom feeding slut, and threw her against the wall and she still came back for more.
Chris Brown, is that you?:whistle2:#

review???

uh..donno
but eventhub.com was pretty dam helpful.

are we gonna have a PS3 Tourney? :D
a 32 or 64 with byes person bracket with best of 5 matches...

we can just have someone head that up... theyd do a random draw then type of the bracket.. then we'd play then report back

 I never realize it when people send me player match invites, I quit the game and I see a bunch of invites in my inbox.
Lol yeah they really do suck online. I'm 25-2 lol. Although, knock on wood, no ones dc-ed out yet so atleast the PSN crowd is more mature to losing. Ryu and Ken are extremely useless against Blanka in SF4 though. Blanka easily ducks Ryu's Ultra/Super and both of theirs fireballs haha. This one guy who was playing Ryu threw off his Ultra expecting it to win the match because I was wide open but instead I just ducked under it. he stood still for like five seconds, couldn't believe it.
fight me i suck too my gamertag is b475.

Sorry if I ignored anyone's request. My brother and some buddies came over and they had never seen SF4 before. Needless to say they were instantly hooked.

ok ok I need to hide this game form myself I have like 30 hours on it already. 6 characters away from the beat it with all characters on meduim or above trophy.
sakura, c. viper, rose, chun li, akuma, and seth.

note to everyone you can cheat to get the trophy for beating it on medium without loosing a round(also on hard against gouken) just press start on controller 2 when your about to lose.

i am at 22 and i got the game on wed afternoon lol!

Wow I logged almost 11 hours and I have just discovered the joys of charge characters like Balrog and Bison(Taking DarkKenpachi's advice on not deciding a main until I get to try the other characters. )
I know I will be missing my Joystick this week, its getting fixed. Besides the random stuck stick, i am loving it. I also am getting used to the square gate.
I wonder if there exists a online Vega player, I've never seen it before.
One here :) Vega is my main.

Out of the 100 matches I played online, I've only seen two Vega players.

Ok so I added everyone who sent me a friend request last night! Thanks! :)

I also tried another couple of rounds against Bison on medium and I just kept getting destroyed. I almost threw my fight pad across the room until I remembered that they were hard to find and it was kind of expensive...then I remembered I had 2 other ones still sealed and chucked it as hard as I could on a pillow. I felt better, the controller wasn't broken, and I still wanted to play more. Win-win-win situation for me. I'll try and be on tonight guys but I have classes and a paper to write so we'll see. I'm just glad to see people on my friends list for a change lol.

you know the fact that you can't blind select your fighter in this game really changes an aspect of the game from SSF2THD. because now when i play people I kinda pick a good person to fight against them with. a real benefit of knowing how to defend yourself with everyone. though I rarely see myself using c. viper, rufus or dhalsim unless I am really playing around.

I love Vega it is just that I have to relearn him again because a lot of his attacks are different now.

you know when your just trying to finish the game with everyone you can use your fave to get to seth and then lose to him and pick who you want to beat him with.

I really need to get away from this game. it is all I can think about for example:

-Buying SF4 CE $79.99 plus tax
-SF4 Strategy guide to read in the bathroom $19.99 plus tax
-buying the street fighter anime uncensored 15.99 plus tax
-Having your 2 year old twin boys running around the house saying
HA-DO-KEN Priceless. :)

I still think Blanka is unfair against Ryu's and Ken's, and this is coming from a primarily Blanka player. I just feel so bad ducking under every one of their projectiles haha.

not really because the sheer might of their attacks on blanka even out the playing field. I use shotos a little above average and with ryu you can always cancel out your hadoken into a super hadoken and smack blanka with it every time. but anyway that move was added to compensate for how much of an advantage fireball users use to have on him.

besides if all you can really do is spam fireballs and dragon punches then you deserve to have blanka slide under and smack you.

(imagine this I am talking like I am the SF4 master. :whee:) lol
-SF4 Strategy guide to read in the bathroom $19.99 plus tax
How is the guide? :)

I had an alpha 2 guide that had a breakdown of each of the standard punch/kicks (Standing, Sweep Range, Jumping, Crouching, etc), along with their strength and priority. Anything like that?
Blanka can duck under the super hadoken though. He ducks under the Ultra hadoken hah.
lol true but when you cancel out the regular fireball to the super one. you catch blanka at the tail end of it and he still gets hit for the full damage. (or at least I have done personally)

yeah it is like that almost exactly. not as good as the SSF2 guide I remember but it does give a consistent overview of how to play a character, how you should do their moves, and move priorities and such. it even gives you frama rate times and suggestion on what to do with them.

it is not a must buy, as it does not give in depth strategies like tekken guides do, but I would say pick it up if you can find it for cheap and definately for a penny in the future.

I must say though I really do miss the arcades, even though online is a blast, it still doesn't offer the amazement of seeing the local arcade champ or the arcade jockey who has a harem of women sit behind him bored as he destroys several people in a game.

There are fun arcade stereotypes, but you're only looking at the bright side of things.. What about the annoying kids who don't understand the system of displaying your quarter on the machine to play next? or the guy that wins all of his matches because he holds his elbows out in a weird way so you can't reach your control? The guy that has B.O. so bad that you'd be willing to pay your quarter just to get away from him?

Or better yet- one of the arcades we used to go to in Memphis had ashtrays mounted to the sides of the machine. They were the only place that got Virtua Fighter 3 when it came out. We played it for a few hours one night, only to end up in the emergency room later because my brother had a severe asthma attack (his fault, i know..)

I like arcades but i don't miss the broken controllers, the jammed buttons, out of order signs, crackly speakers, or absentee arcade attendants when you have no more quarters and the continue counter is running down.

so true but yet the experience you get in arcades help shape you into a better player. I remeber growing up in philly and there were 3 different venues to really show off your fighting game skills.
1. the local pizza shop
2. Space port downtown
3. Atlantic City (with 3 seperate areas to play in, Harrah's, the mall they rebuilt, and the boardwalk arcades.) all had their own culture and each different playing styles. I know it is not philly but all of south jersey is considered to be East Philly. lol

just the different combo ideas and playing styles from each area really develop you into a better player. Plus the thrill of beating the arcade jockey with the harem of girls was the best feeling in the world. :)

So true...

Thanks for the games last night Kenpachi. Hope your Gief didn't get too tired of throwing Boxer around like a bitch.

Man, girls will never be in an arcade. :p

I had the distinct pleasure of growing up around Funspot, and my aunt owned a house across from it, so I think i'm one of the few who got an amazing arcade experience :D

thank you for the games. it was a blast. anytime you wanna play hit me up and I am game. when I was younger all the girls hung out at the arcade also. the lucky cool guys had the harem who watched them play and bring them food. lol
Wow, how does one pull off a fake kick with Sagat?
I don't know but with Ken it's holding down HK instead of tapping it. It's called a feint.
Wow, how does one pull off a fake kick with Sagat?
Tap roundhouse two times in extremely quick succession. Try tapping with two fingers so that the second finger hits the button immediately after the first.

I heard some people say it's near impossible with a DS3.

If we're just talking the challenge mode thing, then it's actually easier for me to do it on the ds3.... it's just pretty hard to do if you don't have quick fingers.

Holy fuck, I just defeated Gouken in arcade on the hardest difficulty. Now my left arm's tingling...

Seriously though, all of it was crazy-adrenaline pumping.

Thanks for the advice about Sagat's fake kick, I'll try it out later.

Just bought this. Reading instruction booklet now since I can't play it yet. Will be on in like an hour though.

Holy shiatttt this game is hard. I am trying to do the challenges to learn how to play and I can't beat any characters set of challenges on Normal. On Ken I am on the 4th level and I can't beat some of these for the life of me. I think it was one where I had to do jump + HK, HK, right-down+right,down,right + MP, Focus MK+MP, and the third move is like too far away after the second move, I can't do it for the life of me.

I am using a regular controller, I know it's not totally designed for that, but I don't know if I am going to get a stick, I am at college, and frankly don't really want one, but this game seems nigh impossible to do some moves.

In general, this game seems brutally difficult! Anyone have tips??

I wouldn't worry about the character specific challenges too much. A lot of those combos rely so much on frame counting you will be hard pressed to reliable pull them off in an online environment. They do teach good concepts such as linking and such, but later on some of them require sheer perfection to complete.

I would say pick one character that interests you, go and play arcade mode for a bit on easy so you can familiarize yourself a bit with the moves (not necessarily just the special moves) and figure out what type of reach and advantages that specific character has, and then turn on accept fight requests in arcade mode, and start taking on peeps online.

If you start having certain problems fighting certain dudes, I am sure someone here will be kind enough to offer their services and put up a clinic for you. I kinda did an impromptu one with Kenpachi last night trying to figure out how to get Balrog to beat Zangief. :p

And everyone here seems to be at every level of play skill, so you should be able to get some good competitive games going soon enough.

Welcome to SF4, we won't take your fight money. :)

Ha. Is anyone playing this with a standard controller? If so is it worth it? I don't really have the money for a stick but I'm dying to play this. And if I do wind up getting a stick I'd probably want to buy the X0 version to get my friends to play it.

The major thing i don't like about the standard controller is that the R2 and L2 buttons suck.

I hate these people that are taking advantage of people like me that don't read XD They set ranked games for 1 round and 30 seconds and win via time out.
Wow, how does one pull off a fake kick with Sagat?
Proper way is pressing it twice quickly. The way to just do easy to finish the challenge it is set 2 buttons to do the same thing and slide your finger across quickly.

I fought my first Zangief lariat spammer tonight. Kind of a pain until I figured out to just be patient and counter with low kicks. Any other tips on stopping him? I need to find a guide that shows which moves will break each other. I play frequently, so if you want you can add me. I have only played HD Remix a little and just bought this. My PSN account is: MGS4_Ocelot_08

I think you should keep your distance and wait for his lariat animation to finish then close in with a counter. Keep him away from you with projectiles if you have a character that can do so.

Thanks. So just crouch block then throw a reversal once the animation finishes? I managed to pull that off a few times. Fireballs help too, but they will go through him if the timing is right (or off depending of your perspective).

That might just work, though you should watch out if you're right next to him cause he'll throw out a piledriver.

I'm using DS3 and I can definitely see the benefits of a stick but the only really frustrating thing is doing ultra combos with L1 and L2

Seth is a fuck

has anyone beat him? How?? I just spent an hour trying with blanka (he worked good for stopping seths teleporting by electrocuting him) and ryu (he worked good keeping distance) but no luck. Maybe I'll try it on easy next time?
