Did you check with your neighbors? A similar incidence happened to me early this week. Delivery confirmation said it's been delivered but nothing in my mailbox. Next day I waited for the mailman to arrive and asked him about my package. He looked through other mailboxes and found my package in the wrong box (my neighborhood has centralized mailboxes). It's a priority mail package from amazon prime and it's USPS who screwed it up.
 
I know someone is gonna complain about "stay on topic you assholes, we don't need a countdown..." but this thread has left the OT station anyway....

So, any guesses as to when these sell out? I'm guessing 4:49 eastern.
 
Oh great. I waited all this time for Amazon to have it back in stock so I can use my credits but already ordered from goHastings in the morning. Now their page isn't loading to see if I can cancel my order. @_@

FLOL I sent back my amazon copy since it was fairly dinged up, especially compared to the perfect copies I got from TRU. I'm betting a chunk of these 800 or so that were available today were returns for dinged/imperfect copies.

And even funnier, I sold a copy for $60 today with expedited shipping.

Amazon. $59.91 + $6.99 shipping. Even better was the buyer's in LA pretty close to me, so I just got back from delivering it personally. I should've just listed it on craigslist for $50, LOL.

For some reason new egg used bubbled envelopes to mail these in..
So of course they are dented/dinged/scratched/sat on..

why not use a box?

Because despite all the bitching and hand wringing, people actually want this item. Think about it, if you grew up playing this, it means that you actually should be of a respectable age now. And at a respectable age, what's $30? Nothing. That's like movies for 2 people. It's a semi-decent bottle of wine.

So to the vast majority of americans (ie not CAGs), this is like an impulse buy.

Lol, true enough once you factor in Amazon's fees. Crazy that the referral commission is 15%.

Ahh i gotcha. I have 2 copies by accident. I bought 1 at launch and then i found out my sister got it for me for Christmas. And im still not sure if i should return the original one i bought or not. It is in pristine condition. I had planned on opening it, but now that I have another one coming to play, i'm wondering if I should just hold on to the other one and if nothing else use it for gamestop credit down the road.

Plenty of these new players have never played the original Mario games or All-Stars. Factor that + the $30 budget price-point + limited edition with soundtrack CD and art booklet + the stylish presentation of the package(not joking) + the Christmas season = a great gift for someone with a Wii. SMAS has its hoarders, but you can't underestimate the casual interest in the Mario franchise.

I got it from Amazon and they sent it in a bubble mailer, too, which pissed me off.

Has a few dents but nothing really bad. Still, why the fuck do you send a plastic case in a box but this in a bubble mailer?
 
even when the wiis were rare, i dont think any major retailer jacked up their prices. They just made you buy it with like 5 games and some plastic shit.

Why would someone pay $60 when there are tons of copies at $36 on Amazon? Featured Merchant + dumb buyer?

Mine came from Amazon in a normal sized box with the plastic airbag space filler and minimal damage. Just some light scratches on one side and the bottom, and a very slight crease on the back. Conclusion: Everyone who touched mine did their job.

Not sure if this is the place to post this, but I saw three copies at the Shopko down the street tonight. I picked up a copy for me last weekend. But if anyone is interested in a copy PM me.

Thought I'd toss it out there, since people are starting to pay way more for it now.

Around 12 pm EST on Friday, Amazon had some back in stock for $29.99. I ordered one, because sure enough they sold out quickly again. I still have my SNES and Super Mario All-Stars (the original I bought at retail without Mario World), but the battery is of course unreliable now, and I can't count on my 18 yr old SNES forever. I am disappointed that this is a bit of a rush job port on Nintendo's part with nothing new added to the actual game. Their Virtual Console, while a great way to play games of yesteryear and even some hard to find and never released ones, killed the chance of ever getting a good classic compilation disc again.

Tons of casuals are picking this up. I knew a few people who use their Wii mostly for bowling that have gotten this as a gift. 30 bucks for a mario game beats having to pay 50 for some other first party game that a casual may find too "hard". Also its been years since most casuals have played these games. I've done them on VC, DS, Emu, and flash.

30 bucks for 4 games, a CD, book, and shiny box is a deal for alot of folks. I maybe would have gotten it if it was 20 bucks. But I've played these games to death and could beat them in my sleep.

Maybe this will turn out to be a good thing for the industry then. I mean, enough of us started gaming with these games, or at least played them really early on. Maybe this will turn casuals away from shitty shovelware when the play games that actually matter. Anything to clean up the Wii/DS sections at GameStop and Best Buy.

Got the Mario collection, Sonic collection, now all I need is a Crash Bandicoot collection and a Resident Evil collection. Yeah, I was playing Resident Evil at age 10 lol...
 
I just called Target saying that they don't have it on the floor but we do have it in the back. What kind of respond is that? I told them to bring them out on the floor for fucking sake! BTW they still have 18 copies left in the box.

Would that be nice? Sure. Would it be realistic? Not so much.

Other developers on the Wii aren't going to step up their game because Nintendo has a hot seller on their hands, that has been the situation since the Wii was released. The vast majority of Wii gamers don't know enough about new games to know what's good and what's not. At best the consumer will see a game with the Nintendo brand and associate that with quality, which only promotes Nintendo developed software and leaves the 3rd parties to fight over the scraps. Low sale expectations lead to games with small budgets on a hurried development cycle and therefore more crap flooding the shelves.
