Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Gen. Discussion & Info

Went to gamestop today, still had preorders :\

Ins't it daylight savings this saturday? Don't forget to turn your clocks a hour ahead

Oh when I play at home I'm using my Wavebird def.! But for the tournament, it's Wiimote + Nunchuk so yeah, just want to get the idea in my head now so I'm not jumpin and punchin like an idiot.
They both have the same psi power though, which is kind of a downer.. Lucas seems a bit slower than Ness.
Well, Lucas does have PK Freeze as his up attack which Ness doesn't have. And, the physics of the PK Fire and PK Thunder aren't the same. Lucas' PK Fire travels more straight as opposed to Ness' downward arc. And, Lucas' PK Thunder doesn't quite have the power of Ness', after it hits an enemy, it passes through them.
Anyone else thinking about getting the Guide?
This is about one of the only games I'd get one for.
I remember having the guide for the 64 version. :D

Also, I joined the tournament and am going against a couple 12 year olds (around 8ish) and 2 friends of mine. I also think there's about 2-3 21 year olds guys who entered aswell.
I might get the guide if the store I'm going to has it in stock. Given that it's a local store and that I'm thrilled to get a reserved copy after all of the GameStops in town magically ran out of copies, I'm tempted to throw a little bit of extra money their way as a thank you of sorts.

If all else fails, I could use more Wii Points or a classic controller... :D

Yeah, it's more comfortable using the wavebird. I tried using the remote and nunchuck, and it seems like I could adjust to it, but I've used the wavebird to play Melee for years and it's just more comfortable since it has the same exact controls and all.

For those that know or have played...

How long is the SSE?
Is it something to be played more then once (with all/different characters)?

I had a dream where I went with my girlfriend to a midnight opening for SSBB and the newspaper was there getting a story for the paper. They decided to interview me and asked me why I came at midnight just to get a video game. My reply went like this...

"Because I have no life. Well, actually I do, it's here with me now. Oh and my girlfriend is next to me as well."

The funny thing is that I would really say that if that did happen.

I cannot wait to play.

I saw some videos last night to hype me up.
Teared up when I saw the Pikmin level when the giant bug came in and 'roared'.
So perfect.

Love letter to fans indeed.

I'd call that an overreaction, but considering how every little obscure reference in Melee had me completely geeked, I know I'll probably do the same once I get the game. :)

Another two days, and then I can finally stop avoiding all of the Brawl information online. :D

Random question that I'm sure has been addressed -- people are able to mix modes of play, correct? Such as -- if I like the Classic controller, my brother likes the nunchuck mode, and my wife likes the Wii-mote -- we can all play together on my one Wii, right?
It is getting closer, and closer. I haven't been this excited over a game in a long time...
lol me too I been plotting my day to make 8 come faster. Do you think the GS will keep it at just the people who entered the tourney who can come into the store, or can we bring friends?

Lots of people getting it early.

Wahh!

Each portion of the SSE, you get to be different characters. For example..

In the opening bout, it's Mario vs. Kirby. Then it goes to a cutscene where you can choose either Mario, Kirby, Peach or Zelda. You pick a second character as a backup. The whole SSE is like this.

As far as the length, i'm about three and a half hours deep on SSE and it says about 35% done.

Dallow,

Who is that in your avatar, is it you? i sweat half the time I see it, it looks like Ashton Kutcher.

I know thats a weird thing to bring into this thread, but I was curious.

So I will be getting this game from family video soon, too bad I don't have a Wii. I ordered back in november and assumed I would have a Wii by now but I still haven't found one :(

:bouncy: I am thrilled! I just got my copy! (I then went into a Gamestop [to look for a guide] which is across the street from where I got it and they demanded to know where I got the game from!) 5:00 cannot come fast enough for me!

On sale now at VideogamesNY in well, New York.
It's a picture of a very young Morrissey. hehe, a bit obscure I know, but one user actually got it right.
He was secret in the first... and maybe even in Melee. So was Luigi. Characters don't have to be For British Eyes Only to be locked at the start.
I could swear he was available from the start in at least melee? Guess i should go back and play it again.

This made me laugh.

Well, I got a call from EB telling me they are having a midnight release for Brawl, so hopefully that means I don't have to worry about them not having enough copies for those that pre-ordered.

Called the local GameXChange, who said they won't get their shipment until next week.

Of anyone here, they probably would've been the ones to break the date.

Oh snap, this is the trophy! How uuuuugly!
Looks like Kevin's "Don't Go In After Me" award on The Office.
Yeah, that should be fine.

My question, you can do stock matches online right? Not just the timed crap right?
Please!
We need an answer to this question!

That said, I know you can turn items off, so I'd imagine you can set it to stock. And dallow, when you get your Wii back let me know - I love playing stock instead of timed. :D

Gamestop probably WILL run out of copies, because they are douches.

Meanwhile there is a Best Buy or a Walmart right across the street that will be happy to have your business.

With friends, you can make the match however you want.

"With Anyone", it's just timed battle, no options.
Really sucks, I can't stand timed.

Or even better, Target and Circuit City - they're much less evil most of the time. :)

Darn.

I might get my game delivered tomorrow.

Amazon shipped it today via USPS and my USPS delivery confirmation number updated and it says my copy of Smash was processed and left Bell, CA already. Usually when it says that, I get my packages delivered the next day (as long as it isn't Sunday or a USPS holiday).

I can't wait!!!:D

thinking about doing the Smash Tourney, but its at the mall, and the kids at the school where I work hang there every weekend. Don't really feel like dealing with that on Monday.

Since I'm getting the game at Walmart instead of at gamestop, can I cancel my reserve and get my money back that I put on it?

Yes you can I've done it before they charge it back to your debit/credit card. Or gave you cash back. It's easier if you have your receipt for the preorder too.

I want this game now. I dreamed about it last night. The night before that, I dreamed that I found Earthbound for a good price. I guess I'm really excited about Nintendo right now. Still, Nintendo needs to bring the mother games to the VC already!

Alright. Thanks for the response. I'll go by before they close and get it back before I wait in Walmart. BTW, with DST in effect, will I be able to get brawl 1 hr. earlier?

DST starts at 2am.

I would go looking around for a store that sold it early, but to be honest: Feh.

Really. I waited way too damn long, had my heart broken when we got ANOTHER delay (and if you remember, I have been raping Japanese people ever since that day).. I can wait another day.
