Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Gen. Discussion & Info

I'm tired but I may get on in a little since I haven't played in a few days and need some practice (I'll probably get too sleepy, I'm guessing other people will be getting off too).

You know I still haven't played Mario Kart since the early launch days. I've been too busy w/ Smash and especially my new PS3. I'll get on one day and start whoopin' some tail :cool: (prays for no Lightning on the last lap).

Apparently I'm right outside the top 10, I had my name in consideration but got beat out, and rightly so :p

You should play Janet. She's a beast in Mario Kart. She takes names and does some whoopin'. If there were a Mario Kart poll, she'd be my #1. ;)

DMK, who does the rankings? Is this the collection of players?
 
A panel of 5 people were put together, chosen based on their familiarity with other players/how much they've traveled and experienced.

The panel was myself, Hylian, Sethlon, Fogo(from Dallas), LeeHarris from New Braunfels.

Theres a LOT of MK hate. I personally think Infinity is the best MK in Texas(now that Wobbles doesnt play). He theoretically should be above Stiltz but he gets extra props for being a nightmare with Olimar.
 
Also, DMK, how do these players rank against the best players from other states? I'm sure at least a few out-of-staters have played some of those guys in tournaments.
 
DMK,

The only Texan's videos I follow closely are Hylian's. He plays a mean Mr. G&W, especially considering that he is one of the lightest characters in the game.
 
Hylian and Sethlon are both known nationally, but mostly from the Melee days it seems like. Anyone who doesnt agree that Seth is the best Falco player there is would at least agree he is top 5.

Melee1 got 2nd in a huge Arizona tournament, getting beat by DSF's MK. IC's infinite was banned at that tournament too. DSF is a big name nationally, with the likes of ChuDat, Ken, M2K, etc

I believe Sethlon did pretty well at a big tournament in either New Mexico or Arizona. Like 7th or 9th out of a ton of people. Not much travel outside of that though.

I would put money on Roy beating nearly anyone that isnt Ice Climbers.

Started next week I'm gonna let a lot of the country know that Texas is all about B-Spam :p
 
He just quit. Doesnt like the game. There has been a slight resurgence in the Melee community I've noticed. Tournaments popping up, people quitting brawl and going back to it. Hell, theres hardly anyone to play in Austin because all the Austin players still play Melee.

Everyone is moving on to Brawl. Those people have been playing Melee for nearly 6 years, so they are used to it.

Don't worry, you don't have to apologize. Unlike tourney$$$s, I don't have an ego for being good at a video game.

I played a few people earlier and then just now. Fun times!, but I'm not on my game tonight. Although I did get a funny win over Evergoo earlier :lol: Thanks guys!

I'm starting to like four player matches more and more these days.

GG's to evergoo, I hadn't played you in so long I forgot how good you are, Lucas and ROB seem to be pretty much even against each other, still need to train up some more. That snake vs lucario match was INTENSE, I honestly wasn't expecting to knock you out with that front smash (but now that i think about it my dmg multiplier was almost maxed out)

GGs to you, too. That first Snake match was good but that second one was just garbage. I was just your punching bag. Good job out ditto-ing me. I need to be less aggressive and more defensive b/c this game rewards good defense. I'm just used to fighting Joe's speedy Shiek w/ R.O.B. so I should have took it down a notch regarding offense and movement.

Weeklies in Vegas is on Mondays, correct? Can I get some more information regarding these? I'm trying real hard to plan the trip such that I'm there on Monday.

More importantly being defensive against your ROB works wonders.

On a side note, you should try using your tilts more when you're on the ground, his forward+A has fantastic range and down+A can trip if I'm not mistaken, in any case its quick, safe and annoying.

I know I need a lot more forward+A's in my game. It's just I'm afraid of being shield grabbed.

Down+A does trip and I use it sparingly when I should use it more.

I think my biggest problem is predictability. Minimizing predictability -> minimizing risks.

I'm gonna practice on an important AT today that I should have incorporated a long time ago.

So you really need to get a match because of character choices?

That match may have been fun to watch if 1/3rd of the match didn't end in smashballs, and 1/2 of the match end in item-related deaths. Marth was just lucky the furry didn't blow his smash ball after he took out that stock (who was already at a good % to knock off).

Wow, I finally have some time to sit down after the 3 day extravaganza that is EVO. Matches from pools and semi-finals will be posted soon, but unfortunately, I'm now allowed to post finals, cause EVO sells dvds.

After watching the matches, I now have a new appreciations for items. I never realized how much strategy is involved with some items. All I have to say is that good players will still come out on top, even if there are items.

My best pokemon is charizard and ivysaur
ivysaur for the fast attacks and charizard for the raw power
although it is hard to master, its a challenge thats worth while
so see you all on friday on the battle ground!
and look forward to fighting marc and hero

EDIT: I recommend this to all of you but record all of your brawls offline
and watch them. You will be able to see the spots where your open and
your weak spots. It helps alot!

I'm pretty sure it was over 1000% :p.

That forward+A wasn't working for me because of two things: Pit's shield and your tendency to do the Xena warcry.
