Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Gen. Discussion & Info

YES FINALLY RESETTI :applause: never got to experience his lectures in AC, so this is pretty awesome, there better be an option to select certain assists to come out of the assist tropy, oh and it looks like he puts chars to sleep

Glad to see this. I think the best parts of the Smash Bros. series are when it sort of breaks the fourth wall of gaming. I think they need more stuff like this, because honestly there's a limit to the normal items you can throw in before you start repeating yourself.

I couldn't remember saying that, so I looked it up. Sure enough, on 7/13/07:
Calling it now: Mr. Resetti is an assist trophy, and will scare the shit out of you.
I guess he really just....bores the shit out of you though.

I bought animal crossing and played it probably twice for a total of a half hour. I was a fan of harvest moon but didnt really get into this game. I kind of regret it because some people really love it. Oh well it held its resale value well so I didnt lose any money.

I dont know, if the fighting continues during the rant with the camera locked on him it could it least be somewhat startling.

You weren't the only one, Strell:

Me, on July 31:
I still think Resetti should be an assist trophy. I'll be upset if it doesn't happen.
Today's the Pokemon Trainer's Final Smash. All three Pokemon, along with a text window, join in on the massive attack.

Animal Crossing character in Smash?

Hopefully a "the attack missed" text bar.

Kinda makes me wonder what's going to happen when you lose all your lives when playing as PT. Here's hoping for a "Pokemon Trainer has blacked out..." text bar.

This makes me wonder if the screen text will actually say "That's enough, Blastoise! Go, Charizard!" text that Sakurai mentioned in the Pokemon Trainer update.
That would be BAWLIN!

That really cracked me up. Me and my friend have been saying that as a joke lately. And when I make a phone call im CALLIN'!
Can tourneys be held online? I can't clearly make it out from the update.
From the "I'm not going to go into detail" quote, I'm gonna say yes? But who knows.

I can't imagine the tournament stuff would be online enabled, but if so, I'm even more excited for a day one purchase. This game is going to be packed with stuff, I can't wait.

Sakurai said something to the effect of "even if you don't have that many friends, you can play against computer opponents."

My guess is tourney is not online. Don't get your hopes up.

Besides, how would that even work? Unless there's a way to start/stop it dynamically, it's not plausible. You going to get 32 people to sit around for 4-5 hours to do it? Just do it on your own instead. Makes more sense.

Well, theoretically different matches in the same round could be going on at the same time. So there would be very little waiting around, especially if there were time limits.

I could potentially see Nintendo holding an online tournament sometime.

Tournament mode was completely useless in Melee. Though it looks like they'll have found some use for it in Brawl.

edit: elwood's idea of online tournies sounds pretty good. Though the person who gets last minute diarhea will definitely not be "BAWLIN'"

Online Tournaments would be great. If they can't implement Tournament mode online they should at least have a LAN mode that lets you do it with multiple Wiis in the same location.

Even with all these sweet updates, the only thing I truly want is Kirby's strength given back to him. Even if they only gave him back some of his former glory, I'll be happy.

I actually decided to start training with him recently. With all of his faults, he's not that bad of a character if you remember never to use his smash attacks. EVER. When you can't kill Fox at 120% with an up smash, there's something wrong.

I think I did an offline tourney once. In some kids basement with like 10 other people. It was pretty lame, it's funner to just play winner stays and rotate.

anybody else find the line "we're working seriously" out of place?
It sounds like they are trying to get it up and running online, since they don't have to "work seriously" to get the bots to play in tournament mode.

i couldn't be more happy that there will be a tournament mode. (i'm hoping). i think that more online games should have tournaments. with strikers, there was almost no reason to go back online. you were never working towards anything. i think that this is a great idea and should be more standard for online games.
They would've mentioned if it was online or not. So, most likely not online.
Well the online mode entry says that they are working on other online modes, and this entry sort of implies they are working on online for Tournament mode. As I said earlier, how else could they make this mode more fun for people with no few or no nearby friends, much less work seriously on making it more fun? The only way I can see is adding online.

Also, the pictures of Tournament mode have a globe in the background, similar to the globe image used in the play with anyone icon for wifi play. That also implies online play to me.
