i want more details on online and teh single player mode. plus what other new characters will be in.

i read somewhere they are trying to get more icons from the video game world in. they have sonic and snake, and thats an excellent start. having tails, knuckles, spyro, crash bandicoot, and lara croft as well would be awesome.

I actually implant electrodes deep within my pants to administer an electric shock if they detect any conversation about Carlos Mencia going on.

It would have been smarter to implant them in everyone else's pants.

But that wouldn't be nearly as fun.

It would most certainly be fun - and a rather large amount of fun at that, but the comparison would quickly break down.

All of my roommates are largely non-gamers (sans Mario Kart 64, Madden, and Halo), but they'll normally heed my gaming advice and find what I say about the industry kind of interesting.

I just got wicked fuckin' pumped about this announcement, burst into the common room, and excitedly told 'em that Kind Dedede was in Smash Bros.- much like a giddy little school girl. Not knowing who the hell I was talking about, I explained that he's a giant, blue, hammer-wielding penguin from Kirby's universe.

All I got was:

"...The fuck?"

Bastards.

The problem with putting them in everyone elses pants is it encourages you to basically talk about Carlos Mencia whenever you can, and that most certainly is a problem.

Well we're up to 23 characters with this update, so I'm starting to wonder if there might actually be MORE than 30 this time.

We're still missing several of the distinct vets: Luigi, Captain Falcon, JigglyPuff, Mr. Game & Watch, and Mewtwo
Not to mention the "clones": Dr. Mario, Pichu, Falco, Young Link, Ness (?), Gannondorf, and the Fire Emblem duo Roy & Marth

Would they really cut ALL of them? I hope not.

Plus we should have at least a few surprise hidden characters that WON'T be revealed on the Dojo, at least some of which will hopefully be newcomers.

Here's hoping for a huge 30+ roster! *raises beer*
 
not surprisingly I had to look this last challanger up never played any of the kirby games so *shrug*. Hopefully his moves are interesting right now all I can say is at least he fits in better than Snake does (not a big metal gear fan portable ops is boring me to tears).
 
Of course Dedede would be in it. HAL made previous Smash games and Sora Ltd is making this one (which is made up of many former HAL employees including Sakurai). HAL made the Kirby games of course so I think they would include Dedede.

I think pretty much every major bad guy in Nintendo games will be in this game. Also, all the major villains from third party games. I want to see King K. Rool, Doctor Robotnik, and Revolver Ocelot in this game. I think this game will have more heavy weights in it.
 
I'm kind of surprised, I did not see this coming. I would have never guessed that Dedede would be in it. (And I would have not known who he was had I not been playing Kirby's Adventure on the VC)... I'm just as surprised as well we haven't seen more veterans. The list of newcomers is almost as large as the veteran list.

Interestingly enough, this is the first time they've show Kirby in any shot with one of his "hats". He already has the hammer, so I wonder what his ability from King Dedede is...
 
King Dedede? I wasn't expecting them to pull out players from left field like that. Definitely came from farther out than Luca or Ike. First Sonic then Dedede. I'm going to need Masahiro Sakurai to bring back a vet next. I'm not worried about Luigi or Ness but with the changes seen I'm worried about Shiek and Y. Link. Plus I really want to see my boy Marth.

Robotnik would be nice but I'd hold my breath until we see at least Tails, maybe not even until Knuckles. We get them two then we can talk Robotnik.

Meh, I'm kind of disappointed. I would have much rather seen him as an assist trophy.

That makes two new characters from the Kirby franchise added in one game. This also means that 3 characters have mallets now! Kirby, ice-climbers, and King Dedede. You can only do so many moves with a wooden mallet, which kind of makes things seem stale.

If they needed another heavy-weight character, it should have went to King Hippo.

I always thought Dedede was the villian, while Knight was portrayed as both good and bad? Hasn't he helped Kirby and such before?

I guess somebody with lots of Kirby knowledge needs to let me know.
 
I just really REALLY hope someone from the capcom universe steps into this game. Megaman, Simon Belmont, Zero, Ryu, I really don't care. I want some Capcom!

Yeah, I think MetaKnight gave Kirby an invincibility lollipop in Kirby's Adventure. That's all I can remember, though; I don't think he's exactly Catwoman...

Still holding out hope that Ridley is a playable character and that Kraid is a Boss.

Too be fairly honest though, after the Sonic announcement I'm pleased. Seriously, they could release Brawl as is, with nothing else new and it would still wind up being my game of the decade.

A handful of tipsters have written in today to let us know about a potential look at one unannounced character who may be appearing in Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii. Accomplished voice actress Alesia Glidewell, who will perform Zero Suit Samus' speaking parts—which I can assume amount to brief proclamations of victory and simple catchphrases—also lists Krystal from Star Fox—pictured above in a shot from Star Fox Adventures—and Knuckle Joe from the Kirby series in her online resume.

Knuckle Joe has already been confirmed as an Assist Trophy by the Smash Bros. Dojo, but no mention of Krystal has been publicly revealed so far. Given Krystal's relatively low profile as an identifiable character, I'm just guessing that she'll either appear as an Assist Trophy or in certain cutscenes during the game's single player mode. However, if you'd told me that King Dedede was also hinted at, I'd have told the same thing, right after saying "Sorry, who?"


Regardless of Krystal's impact on the line-up, expect a slight increase in furry fan art. And avoid Google Image searches.
