Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Gen. Discussion & Info

Before this update, the only thing that I could come up with to make this game better would have been a level maker...now I can't think of anything else we need.

Wow.

The fact that you can also use songs from an SD card is just awesome!

Peach is going to take some names on a Broadway-like stage while "FAME" in the backround is set to the highest volume.

Could it be the best ... could it be?
Who wants to play in my walls on all four sides box of doom stage????
Good point. I wonder if they'll deny impossible levels like that, kinda like with Picross DS.

I didn't get the impression you could do that..?
Also, if you’ve finished registering someone as both a Wii Friend and a Smash friend, you’ll be able to send custom stages to each other.
This is horrible. What is the point of Wii Friends if we have to do it again for every bloody game. I was hoping Smash would break this cycle. ARGG
This is our ideal current plan. We still don’t know the exact service period. And future tuning may result in changes to the spec.
As much as I want to use this as a glimmer of hope. I'm pretty sure he's not talking about the codes.
I think I'm going to get an SD card for this game alone, and chronicle all of the levels.
Microcenter. I don't know where you are but you can get a 1gb sd card for $9.
EDIT: So do you guys think that we'll be able to use the Wiimote for this? 'Cause that'd make editing stages a lot easier.
The controls vary by controller, but each one can do the following:
in other words.. YES.
I didn't get the impression you could do that..?
I agree with Tank. I think/hope we'll be able to use songs from SD cards but as far as I can tell this hasn't been confirmed or even very heavily implied. I would have thought that'd be a part of the My Music but I read that update like 7 times trying to find a hint and ... nothing.

Hmm. I'm sorry.

I saw this as soon as I woke up.

I glanced at "SD Card" and that's the first thing that came to my mind.
Didn't realize (along with the words that say it, LOL) that it was for saving stages.

But I guess overall this isn't totally out of the question though.

Ugh, such an awesome update tainted by this news. As much as I dislike inputing friend codes, I despise even more having to input two friend codes. I hope my first impression of this is incorrect, and our friends codes will not be tied specifically to the game.

Either they let you send to people set up as Wii friends [console code], or they let you send to people set up as Smash friends [game code]. Every other game has used one or the other. It'd be amusing in a sad way if Smash was the first one to excessively complicate things.

Unless they let you create your Smash friend list from your console list as every game should do, in which case it makes more sense.

Wow. I cannot believe they're actually doing this.

The cool thing about this is, if you can save stages to an SD card, you should be able to...download them from the INTERNETS!!!

That would be so awesome! IF that really works, I can see a huge fan community based around this that has the potential to rival even the largest modding communities.

Now, it doesn't really even matter if Nintendo doesn't include a stage we really wanted. We can just make it ourselves (if the tools are good enough). I'm not expecting a full fledged art feature, so naturally, many designs won't be possible.

But I bet I can make a pretty good version of a Sonic: Marble Zone stage.

That's what I'm hoping for (ala. Metroid Prime). I'm on the side that it's a slight mistranslation and that we in fact don't have an additional friend code to enter.
Yeah, I was just thinking that. Plus, with the huge Smash fanbase, I wouldn't be shocked if a tool was developed by the fans to let people edit the saved stage files from their computer, similar to how some PC games have been modded in the past. That might allow even cooler stages.

One of the best updates, if not the best yet. Unadulterated joygasm.

Now if we could get more details on sending stages to registered friends. Wish they'd do it some other way though.
Unless they let you create your Smash friend list from your console list as every game should do, in which case it makes more sense.
that would still be annoying.. but MUCH more tolerable. It's also not out of the question according to the wording which just says 'register' doesn't directly mention 'codes'
Also, if you’ve finished registering someone as both a Wii Friend and a Smash friend,

What are the words I'm looking for?

Oh yeah.

Die. In snow.

Hey DMK, I just thought of something.

You and all the tourney players can make a nice box to play in, so no one ever dies.

It will be like Final Destination².

That's actually not a bad idea. You could get guys up to like 1000%, smash them, and watch them bounce around the room like a super ball.

I still think Midna would be a good fit for Brawl. She could either have a teleport jump (Zelda) or something like Kirby, since she could float and all.

And her FS could be her "human" form. Or, she could always be really Zelda-ish, and transform between the two forms regularly.
Alright, that's it.

I'm buying another Wii. This game should never enter the same disk drive as something as lowly as Mario Galaxy.
Sigged. :)

This is seriously the only game you will ever need. I bet I won't stop playing this game until the next Smash game comes out. It will likely never leave my Wii.

Agreed. Looking over the list of games for the Wii and the ones coming soon, this is the only title that jumps out at me aside Mario Kart Wii and Mario Galaxy.

Any bets on the new update?

My chips are on the disk givin' Dome and then cookin' you steak. Then it turns your system into a beer dispenser.

I've thought about it hard- those are about the things that haven't been announced yet.

This game(and Galaxy) is the main reason I'm keeping my Wii. I was so close to ebaying it but man, I can't imagine missing out on this game.

When you think it can't get better, they do an update like this.
