Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Gen. Discussion & Info
Correction. 8.0 GB of magic. 0.10 GB of Seanr's smirks.
That's right, so bring on the royalties bitch.

Well i've been listening to the soundtrack (as ripped above) for the better part of the day so far and i cannot even put into words how great it is. It's so far beyond what I've come to expect from a game soundtrack, and i have pretty high expectations for game music to begin with.
The waiting room sounds like something Antonio Bandaras would enter a room in. Before he kicked your teeth in.
Yeah, it's definitely a lot more epic than that music that plays in the Wii Channels. If we had to listen to the Mii Plaza or Everybody Votes music, it would have killed the fightin' mood.

I feel like I'm going to need to be wearing a cowboy hat whenever I go into the waiting room.

Which I might conceivably do anyway.
Great idea.
When you guys play in a match and I'm there. Yep. On the other side of the screen I will be naked.

THANX!1 \\:D/
Oh no. No. Noooooo! I will never, ever play you. You will win every time. Note to self: never accept any pictures from lilboo.

Listening to brawl soundtrack now, finally finished DLing and everything. My regular music playlist is small by most standards, but dang, the brawl soundtrack trumps my entire playlist in length.

As much as I regret to say it, I think I'm going to unsubscribe to this thread now. Don't want to be spoiled about everything. It's sorta too late for me though since I've seen the final select screen. Oh well.

thats actually a lot less disturbing than what I'd expect. :joystick:

:shame:

Has anyone made a list or video of all the AT in Brawl? Ive been trying to find some info about them for some time. I finally found out via a cruddy quality video that Shadow is an AT.

I found this over at GameFAQS and I found this kinda interesting. Remember the "Masterpieces"? Well, it looks like you have to unlock them. I'm not sure if it will be ALL of them, but still.

Here's a list of 5 (the only ones that were available. It's spoilered just in case anyone doesn't want to know. (But it's really not anything big or surprising)

Donkey Kong Exceed 10 hours of play time
F-zero Beat SSE having used captain Falcon
Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time - Use Toon Link over 10 times
Super Mario USA Win in VS mode with Peach over 5 times
Super Mario World Play yoshi's Island (melee) over 3 times

Unlockable timed demos?

fuckin' lame. The game has everything anyone could want, but unless it's full versions of these games (like Animal Crossing style), then it's silly to put them in the game as incentives, when it's not the full game.

Unlocking the demos is easy, but it's still stupid.

Of course, Nintendo wouldn't put full versions of those games on there. The demos are just there to entice someone to buy them from the overpriced VC store.

I read the demos are only 40 seconds long, which is also lame.

Still a nice quick fix of nostaligia.
This OST is bawwllin'.
Especially the Star Fox stuff! :D

That would be hilarious if they included Earthbound as a 40-second demo, and then didn't release it on the VC for another year or more.

I hope this is just a list of "CONFIRMED SO FAR" list of assist trophies...

That would be really lame. I was hoping we would get 5-10 time limit.

Not it wouldn't.

Shut the fuck up.

Dayum, I even had to spell it out. :[

I could've sworn that the Dr. Mario viruses were an AT.

The games cost less than you would find most of them on eBay. How is that overpriced?

The very idea of timed demos is silly, IMO. Who the hell needs a timed demo of Super Mario Bros.?

Earthbound is just a cocktease no matter what (a timed version of it, anyway).

Part of me is sour that VC titles are so expensive (not that it's stopped me from buying games yet), and part is sour that they can fit the entire games, with ease, on this disc, and aren't going to offer up $50 or so in "bonus nostalgia" to you, the loyal Wii gamer.

It didn't stop me from preordering the game this morning - but I'd like to see NOA do away with the time limits on these games in SSBB. It would more than make up for their sucking compared to Japan's "Club Nintendo" awesomeness.

All valid points, indeed.

There's just a direct string attached to my heart. It is made of metals long since vanished from this earth and era, glittering in the darkness of a thousand nights with an aura ever dimming. Adorned with fragments from every star in the universe, the words "Earthbound" can be faintly seen.

And NoA's dirty claw is affixed to the other end, beneath a smile fumed with brimstone and malice, slowly removing such eternity from my soul.

So I'm a little predisposed about it.

Well, this won't make you sleep any more sound...but if I read correctly, the *cough* "masterpiece" is actually Mother 2, right? If so, that would only be more heartwrenching: a timed demo of a game that will never...

...

...oh, crap. Nevermind. Earthbound = Mother 2. My mistake.

Anyway. Back to the matter at hand. I was a bit surprised (and also unsurprised) to see Gamestop has priced SSBM used at $35 now. Zoinks.

I'm actually 100% prepared for A) Earthbound never showing up on the VC, B) Earthbound 2 (Mother 3) never showing up in America period, and C) no demo of either game appearing in Brawl.

Prepared in this case involves a knife and an endless stream of small living mammals to jab it into.

Well, at least NoA would be consistent if that becomes the case.

To be fair, when I read that there would be timed demos of games in SSBB, and I saw Earthbound, my immediate reaction was "oh, that'll be taken out before it hits US shores."

Maybe they can give us Urban Champion or Gumshoe.

Gyromite, huh?

Well, that's one title I don't have on my e-card reader (just occurred to me that I still have that hunk o' shit in a box somewhere).

ROB?

Apparently we had one when I was a kid and it scared me, so my mom got rid of it. :(

I want him back. In corporeal form, not just shooting bitches with eye lasers.

Nah, I was talking about the short-lived card-reading game thingy for GBA...so I technically own a copy of Urban Champion, which exists on 5 playing cards.

It made sense at the time that I typed it...but, y'know...
It would more than make up for their sucking compared to Japan's "Club Nintendo" awesomeness.
I vaguely recall Europe getting free Wii points for registering games, too...

That might have been some horrible, fucked-up dream, though. That would have explained Lilboo's presence.

Was I wearing my Charo outfit?
The games cost less than you would find most of them on eBay. How is that overpriced?
I can't completely answer this through here. There IS a difference between owning a physical product instead of a digital one.

Cart only or even complete of a lot of these games are not super pricey. For example, Star Fox 64 can be had for under $10 shipped off of eBay. Which game in particular were you referring to? If we're talking about Earthbound (which isn't even on the US VC), then you might make a case for purchasing it, if and only if, the emulation is properly handled when it makes it to the VC.

Unfortunately, anyone who buys VC games are "investing" in a shorter term product because digital downloads will most likely NOT carry over to Nintendo's next system. I write "NOT carry over" because digital downloads of games on consoles is still new. The PC does not suffer from some of these shortcomings caused by generation changes because of nostalgia and emulation of older titles (like DOSBox).

If games do not carry over, then Strell will be forced to go berserk and eat little children or something if his Wii dies, and the VC downloads are lost forever.

Let me add this: I would willing to pay for a compilation of Nintendo games on a disc or SD card instead of the VC. A lot of companies are doing retro compilations, but in a pursuit to make more money, it seems like Nintendo is completely ignoring compilation discs and pushing the VC store on to people.

First off, I just want to say it's awesome I get a nod for no reason.

:]

While I'm going to venture that your predictions are indeed right, I just want to say that there's no precident for Nintendo allowing/disallowing digital downloads to carry over to their next system.

Your retort would be "well you can't do that now with a refurb/replacement if your Wii dies," but I have heard that you can. You just have to call them up and tell them that you know they have the ability. I can confirm that they do, but I know it tends to be YMMV.

I do know that even if they do, your Miis come back with some sort of nebulous creator bestowed upon them, which then requires this really roundabout way in order to get them such that you can edit them.

If Nintendo does prevent me from moving the downloads - and again, given their past, they probably will - then yeah, that will suck. I keep hoping we'll someday reach a more amiable plateau for this sort of thing.

I would guess that if either of the big 3 didn't let you transfer over your downloadable games to their next console the negative publicity would be so great that they would quickly reverse their decision.

Hey guys, been a while. Watched some of the videos posted on youtube. Though it really seems a lot slower than Melee, it looks like a fun game nonetheless. Hopefully it'll be more balanced, and I guess we wont know until we try and form our own opinions.

I thought Wolf would be in as an alternate costume, but I'm psyched about his appearance as a seperate character. I was hoping megaman would show up, but eh, can't get too greedy.
